The Winner is: #208 Lorene Halfmann
January is an excellent time to be thinking about organization and it happens every year after Christmas. We all start thinking of ways to declutter and get everything in the house in tip-top shape.
You saw the pretty stencil yesterday and today, I’m going to show you the mostly finished room. The wall really does add a soft and subtle backdrop to the furniture in the space. My sister has been shopping on Craigslist, Home Decorators Collection, and with my new collaboration with Lowes, I was able to spend $100 Lowes card on helping her get this space organized.
Oh, what fun! Just for reference, the wall color is the same SW Comfort Gray that we used in her master bath.
Come along and I’ll show you where we are. We were hoping to get this table and chairs painted, but we didn’t get that finished yet. The table and chairs are a Craigslist find for $100. We are planning to paint it a fun Barcelona Orange color in Annie Sloan Chalkpaint. Won’t that be happy down here?
You can see how big the space is in their basement. Really a nice room to use for this. That’s my black bookcase and chair to the right.
Rug was ordered online.
That’s my brown leather sofa too that she is keeping safe for me. Those mirrored closet doors hold all her stacked Christmas bins neatly away. She has so much great storage at her house.
And she’s keeping my island for me too. Lauren painted that cute fleur-de-lis painting.
Here are the really fun organizing pieces she added. The Martha Stewart piece on the left came from Home Decorator’s Collection and she is going to enjoy using that for her wrapping paper and ribbon. The cute cube storage is what we found at Lowes. It came in a box and we put it all together ourselves. It was a bit like Lucy and Ethel do Tool Time, but we made it through. Those fabric storage drawers are great for hiding the clutter and they came from Lowes as well.
We also found these pretty rattan baskets at Lowes and they are another great option for hiding the clutter. Pretty and functional, you gotta love that! Check out Lowes Creative Ideas website for lots of great ideas.
She’s going to really have fun with all this organization at her fingertips.
She also found that pretty bookcase on Craigslist for $75. That’s a deal, I love it.
So, are you doing some organization yourself this month? Did you feel the unmistakable pull of de-cluttering like everyone does this month? It seems that the first of the year is the optimal time to start the year off right and start putting “stuff” in its place.
If you are ready to organize and declutter, now’s a great time for YOU to get in on the fun too. Lowes is offering a $100 giftcard for one of you to spend at your local Lowes store. You can grab whatever your heart desires!
Follow Lowes on their Facebook page too!
All you have to do is leave a comment and tell me what you “think” you might buy if you are the fortunate winner of this $100 giftcard?

Oh boy, could I use that giftcard!
We’re putting our house up for sale in the spring and that would be GREAT for all the last minute things that need to be done in the house!
Thanks for the chance to win!
I would definitely use it for a closet organizer.
We just moved into our first house so there is a lot we need! I *think* I’d love to put it towards a rug for our living room
demureprincess7(at)gmail(dot)com
Love Lowes and there are tons of things there on my wish list. Would put the card towards a new Front Porch Light I’ve had my eyes on!
Wow, could I ever use a gift card! We have been trying to remodel our master bath. Nothing elaborate, just painting and new counter top. I do need new light fixtures for both mine and my husbands vanity area. Love your blog, and you are such an inspiration. Thanks for including me in your drawing.
Oh, I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t love $100 to spend to help get organized. I know I sure would.
I am going to de-clutter the coat closet! Baskets & paint from Lowes would really help!
The room looks great! I think I would love to get some of their closet/storage pieces. And yes, I am in the cleaning/organizing mode as well! Thanks Rhoda!
I would love to buy shelving for my mom cave/craft room and a couple of lamps. Lowes has an awesome lamp selection! Thanks for the chance to win. Have a blessed day!
I have an electrical problem in my light fixture in my bathroom. One of the bulbs blows out constantly (and by constantly I mean within two days) so I would be thrilled to replace that fixture.
Hand sander so I can get some projects done.
Thanks Lowe’s & Rhoda!
Following Lowe’s on FB too.
I’d like to get a nice big red umbrella for the patio table. Wouldn’t that just shout happy times!
I would definitely buy some of those pretty baskets!
I would definitely get some shelving and perhaps some of those great baskets for organizing my basement. Love the craft room so far!
Let’s see, what could I do with a $100 Lowe’s Card? I need all sorts of organizing stuff, those baskets look great, for one thing. I spent more money at Lowes than anywhere. I am gradually replacing all my light switches with lighted ones so there will be fewer fingerprints on the wall trying to find the light switch. I also love to pick up house plants and garden things at Lowes. What fun!
I would buy some cubes and cute baskets….I love the idea of using a bar height table and chairs in the craft room….
We are going to finish our playroom this year so $100 would help buy some insulation for the room. Lowes is one of my favorite stores!! Thanks for the chance!!
My husband and I are hoping to close on our first home soon. This gift card would definitely come in handy with all the things we would like to purchase; rugs, blinds, shutters, etc! You have the best give aways!
I’d love to buy a gorgeous rug like your sisters. Do they carry that at Lowes? Love it!
My boyfriend and I just bought our first house together in June and there are still so many things we need. I’d really love to organize the basement as there’s lots of space but no shelving or any practical way to store anything. $100 will go a long way at Lowes – I love this giveaway! Thank you Rhoda AND Lowes
I would love to win $100 and buy a new cabinet for my craft room from Lowes!! Thanks so much for the opportunity to enter
sally.puckett@yahoodotcom
I would definitely use the gift card toward a much needed (wanted) gas grill! Thanks for the chance.
I too have been on an organizing kick – I’ve already tackled my closet and pantry. Up this weekend is my laundry room. But with a$100 Lowe’s card I’d purchase a mirror I’ve been eyeing for over a year to put up in my spare bathroom. Currently it has a huge wall mirror that just doesn’t look right to me. To remove that mirror, we recently had a contractor tell us to put down a drop cloth and have fun with a hammer, since it was secured with basically black tar! The mirror has annoyed me since day one!
Love how the room is coming together. Houses in Arizona don’t have basements, I sure wish they did! I do have an extra bedroom that needs de-cluttered and re-organized for my scrapbook/sewing/exercise room. I’d probably buy some sort of organizing furniture piece at Lowe’s if I won. Kinda like the cubby thing you guys got. Sorry, maybe I shoulda said “ya’ll got”.
Love your blog!
Looks fantastic! I think I would get some of those great baskets!
I would love to buy a sports organizer for our garage to hold golf clubs. Lowe’s has the perfect one.
We are renovating our house so I could use it on anything & everything!!!!
I would use the $100 towards a backsplash for my kitchen….
I would use the $100 to go towards new countertops and backsplash in my kitchen.
Well, my husband and I just found out we’re having a baby – so I would definitely buy some stuff for the nursery
I would buy beadboard for my half bath walls – the are HIDEOUS!!!! If you look at Miss Mustard Seed’s blog abou ther half bath red – that is what my half bath looks like!
I desperately need a makeover!
THANKS
paint for our living room and kitchen thank
aunteegem@yahoo.coj
I love that you plan to paint that table and chairs orange. And I’m seeing green over that $75 bookcase score.
Okay, my Lowes gift card will be used to purchase bead board wallpaper and trim for my master bedroom redo! I finally tackled the painting of the vaulted ceiling on my own and am itching to get the rest of the room completed …

Thanks for the great giveaway! I think I would spend the gift card on adding some nice molding to my dining room. I’ve been wanting to do it for a while and this would be the perfect jump start to get it done!
What a wonderful giveaway. I would buy some new window coverings (some type of shade or blinds to go under curtains) for my and my grandson’s bedrooms if I were lucky enough to be the winner. And I just have to say, I’m loving your sister’s rug.
I would buy PAINT!! Lots of walls in my home need new paint!! The craft room turned out great!
I think I would buy a couple gallons of paint for my living room and still have a good start on purchasing a new bathroom light fixture!!
Thanks for the great giveaway. I would probably use the gift card on spring and summer flowers for deck boxes and the urns on my front porch.
The room looks so fresh & so open! VERY pretty & nicely done!
I guess I would purchase some of those storage drawers and take the stuff out of my totes and put that stuff in these drawers. I hate having to stack and unstack totes full of heavy stuff. I’d rather just pull out a drawer and put it back. Call me lazy. LOL!
but then again I could use some more painter’s cloth, paint and so many other things.
I would LOVE to win! My husband and I are starting work on making some built in bookcases for my sewing studio and this gift card would help us out so much!!!
Hey Rhoda,
that really can be a hard question.:) either use it toward a kitchen aid mixer or some shelves, or paint. Ugh I told you its hard.
Great job on the craft room. Your sis must be in heaven!
I would love a gift card to Lowe’s and would buy something towards our soon-to-be kitchen remodel.
A gift card to one of my favorite stores? Well, it’s not like I’ve already picked out my foyer light fixture or anything…
Rhoda, I could sure use a giftcard to Lowes. I’m working on redoing my toyroom for my grandbabies and haven’t been able to start yet due to funds. Thanks for offering these give aways.
Robin
I’d buy a gallon of paint, and a pre-hung door, for our basement bathroom! Thanks for the opportunity to win!

Ooh, with a $100 gift card I could definitely spruce up my parents’ living room with some new paint and wall art. Or…I could use it for some shelving & accessories at my place. Either way, it’d be grand
I would love to go shopping for a new ceiling fan for my den. Lowe’s has beautiful fans. Thanks for the great giveaway!
I think I’d spend that money on some power tools so I could do some of the DIY projects that are on my list.
I think I’d put it towards a miter saw or something to refresh my kitchen. Oh, or maybe a new light fixture for the living room. It’s going to be hard to decide
Definitely could use paint! Thanks!
A Lowe’s gift card would be so great to help me with organizational stuff around the house — pick me, pick me!

Ooh, I would love to win that Lowe’s gift to spend on baskets and a closet organizer!! And I could think of a zillion other things too!:)
A hundred bucks at Lowe’s? I could find a million things! Tile for the basement, tile for the fireplace, beadboard for the bath…and the list goes on. ♥ Lowe’s!
If I had $100 I would use it to organize my bathroom. I have recently remodeled a bath but need something like a freestanding cabinet or small pantry to store hair items, manicure/pedicure supplies, etc. I envision a small free standing cabinet that I can paint to coordinate with the colors of the room…pale yellows, light blue and light moss green.
My want/wish list for Lowes is a mile long. I want to redo my kitchen and front bathroom. A gift card would come in handy.
Boy, that is a hard one… I’d have to go shopping to see. I would not have a bit of trouble spending the gift card, tho! Thanks!
We are currently re-doing our MasterBath, my husband is doing all the work himself, and its currently striped to the studs, so I have a million things I could spend a $100 Lowes card on. We love Lowes. Also love the room update, love the paint technique on the walls.
My list is so long! I’d probably pick up some baskets and containers for organizing.
We are building a new pantry out of an old bathroom and we need to buy shelving!!

Love, love your sister’s great craft space! The wall you stenciled looks fabulous, too!!
I would love to win the Lowe’s gift card & would spend the $$ for a closet organization system (YES, I am so in the organizing mood these days, too!!). Blessings!
I followed Lowes Facebook, and I would love to win the gift card so I can finish up my basement cleanup/craft room setup.
I would purchase a closet organization system. The system the builders put in wasn’t very functional.
Wow, beautiful basement room!
I’d look into getting those storage cubes for my daughter’s room.
What a great space this is going to be! I love love love that rug and can’t wait to see the table painted that color! I’d love to get one of those big garage storage wardrobe things. We could really use one right next to the garage door for all the sports equipment and things. Great giveaway!
Would definitely get bookshelves to organize clutter!
Ohhhh If I won a $100 at Lowe’s today, I would use it towards a new vacuum cleaner.
I would use that gift card so quickly on some shelves I would fashion to make look like those expensive Ballard Designs ones!!
I would love to buy paint for our basement/playroom! Lowes is a favorite destination for project inspiration.
I love the big gift wrap unit. What a great room! Count me in for the Lowe’s card. I can always use a Lowe’s card! Lori Lucas
I could really use that gift card to purchase a new rug for my Master Bedroom. Your blog about your sister’s bedroom re-do has inspired me to bring my room up to date!
I need this to kick start my organization!
Debbie
I really like the cube storage. I’ve been looking at them at different stores. Another thing I need is some more paint. We’re in the process of updating our 1970′s house!
I love Lowes . My favorite store.
I also love visiting your blog. So many great ideas. Thank you
Dawn
They have a dining lamp that I’ve had my eye one. It matches my living room lamps.
I would buy the Dremel Rotary. I’ve had my eye on it for a year and boy do I have a lot of craft projects lined up with it!
I need tools! I have my eye on a cute Dremel…
Oh boy is this something that would be a HUGE help soon!
We are buying a new house and haven’t had a garage before so I’m sure whatever storage pieces they have would be a great use of the card!
I have SO MANY project that I could start with the $100. The first one that needs work is the guest bedroom, that room has begun to get decluttered, but I so need some shelfs for it.
My kitchen is in desperate need of a redo! Thanks for the opportunity!
I’m in an organizing mode til baby comes and I would love to buy storage solution stuff.
I just recently bought two of Martha’s canvas tote baskets (if that is the right word) to curb the mess in my son’s playroom. Love them! My house needs a whole lot more sprucing up and organizing, so such giveaway would really come handy. Thanks for the opportunity!
I am a DIY enthusiast and run to Lowe’s for this or that about 3 times a week. I would use the $100 gift card towards the pruchase of a new grill for my DIY patio!
I could put $100 towards several things, but I have been planning to revamp my “playroom” in our basement. I am getting ready to paint and would like a new area rug to go in front of the couch.
I would use the $100 towards organizing my bedroom. maybe a shoe rack and storage for clothing

I’m thinking ahead to spring, so I’d love to use it toward a spruce up of our yard.
