This time of year, the peaches are still coming in strong and I have to say, peaches are at the top of my favorite summer fruit list.
Last week, our Whole Foods here in town had a special price of 69 cents a pound on fresh peaches from our peach-growing county, Chilton, so I stocked up on several pounds and decided that a peach cobbler was in order. My hubby was a happy man. I haven’t shared a recipe in awhile. I’m still cooking, just haven’t tried a lot of new recipes lately.
This is my mom’s peach cobbler recipe, straight out of our old church cookbook.
Peach Cobbler
1 stick butter, melted
3 or 4 cups peaches (I used about 6 fresh peaches)
1 c. self-rising flour (I used all purpose & added 1 tsp. baking powder)
1 c. sugar
1 c. milk
Put melted butter in 2 1/2 quart casserole dish. Pour peaches over margarine. Combine flour, sugar and milk. Add to dish and stir slightly. Bake at 350* until brown and thick. Mine took about 30-40 minutes to get brown.
It will look a little lumpy when you mix the flour and milk, but it all cooks up nicely.
And looks like this when it comes out of the oven, all golden brown, with syrupy peaches. I sprinkled on a little raw sugar when it went in the oven too.
That calls for a little Blue Belle vanilla ice cream (or frozen yogurt) on top.
YUM! It’s SO good.
And as a fun little treat today, we have a meal planning online giveaway going on for ONE of you!!
{GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED}
One of my friends here in town is working with an online meal planning company called E-Mealz. She gave me a free download to try it out and we are giving away a free 3 month subscription ($15 value) for ONE of you to try too. The best thing is, this service is only $5 per month, so it is very affordable. Click on over and take a look at it all! Even Dave Ramsey endorses them. ![]()
You can look at the sample plans to see examples of the menus and one good thing is you can choose the point system, low carb, meals for 2, and several others that are specialized.
If you decide to try it out, enter the code “savemoney” to get an extra 10+% off. This is a very cost effective meal planning system.
Meal planning is not the easiest thing for me to keep up with, so this is a great way to get yourself organized and plan those meals for the family.
The thing I love about E-Mealz is the fact that you can choose the store you usually shop at and it has recipes and items that are on sale for that week at whatever store you choose to use: Kroger, Publix, Walmart, Aldi’s, there is a store for everyone. You then print off the recipes and shopping list and head to your local store for that week’s meals.
Doesn’t that sound like an easy way to stay ahead of the meal planning game?
Just leave a comment telling me if you have a challenge with meal planning like I do?!
I’ll leave this open until Thursday evening and one winner will receive a 3 mos. subscription to E-Mealz for your choice of plans.
I’m adding this to Jen’s Tasty Tuesday.

I can never find the time to plan. I need help lol!
As a teacher with two hungry boys and a husband, this would definitely help with my meal planning and money saving.
As a mom of 4, I need all the help I can get!
Sounds awesome!
Rhoda, the Peach Cobbler looks AMAZING!!
Peaches are my favorite summer fruit too! I usually make a fruit crisp with them, which hubby loves, but he’d love a cobbler too!
Beautiful cobbler!
I love to cook but hate hate hate trying to figure out what to make every night!!
With 6 girls at home, this sure would come in handy! Thanks for the opportunity to win!
WOW! First of all, I am now craving peach cobbler, so I will have to make this later today
.
Secondly, I struggle with meal planning, with a teaching job, 3 teenagers and 2 in-and-out stepkids, I can’t ever seem to get it right! I could use all the help I can get. What a wonderful tool for busy women like us. Thanks, Rhoda!
I have a piece of note paper with this same recipe written on it by mygrandmother — one of most charished keepsakes.

I do actually meal plan for every trip to the grocery store, as I like to have a list with EXACTLY what I need so that the bill doesn’t get out of control. Plus it makes it easy to know what will be for dinner that night and not have to think so long about it. I am currently on weight watchers though and need some new inspiration. It gets old cooking the same stuff all the time. We love trying new recipes so this would be great! Thanks for hosting this!
I definitely do! I usually don’t know what we’re having until close to time to start cooking!
Would love to win! My biggest challenge is getting dinner on the table on busy weeknights!
This sounds like a fantastic idea! I would love to to have recipes for meals from items on sale. This would take the guesswork out of what to “fix” for my two growing boys! Love your blog!
Thanks for sharing the peach pie. I gained weight just looking at it! It was worth it:)
I am always aggravated when I hear “What’s for dinner?” Why? Because I feel inferior as a mother when I haven’t even given it a second thought until about 5pm! This would help.
I have started a new diet so meal planning is a little difficult right now. This would help out!
Being a GA girl, peach cobbler is my favorite dessert and that one looks so YUMMY! It doesn’t fit in with the new diet though. I’ll just admire your picture and imagine how good I know it tastes.
Dang it! I had an idea for an internet meal planning site 5 years ago but never acted on it. Shoot. Would love to swallow my pride and try it out
I lack originality when cooking, so I cook the same dishes over and over again cause they work. My poor family need a big time change! I would definitely use the online meal planner – what a great idea!
I find myself doing the same meals over and over. I need some major help! I would love to have this online planner!

I need this so badly! I work full time, am a full time student, and just had my first baby…needless to say I am SWAMPED. I really need to meal plan for budgeting and dietary reasons, but I am really struggling with being consistent.
What a great website!
Oh, and I am so going to try your peach cobbler recipe!
Thank you!
This looks like a fabulous opportunity to try something new. It seems like we are all trying to come up with something to make meal planning easier. I’m curious about trying it out and trying the point system (I hope that refers to WW), as well as the grocery shopping by ads. Sounds like a brilliant idea to me.
I love peaches!!! Ours are gone. But, I truly enjoyed them, while we did have them. I use the same recipe, but girl, I found this recipe; where you blend sugar and vanilla together with a fork and sprinkle on top before placing in the oven. It gives a sweet flavor and a touch of crispness on top. Give it a try!
That peach cobbler looks wonderful! So your hubby’s a cobbler man, too?
Meal planning is the bane of my existence. This sounds like a service really worth using! Thank you so much for the giveaway.
Meal planning is always a problem..I never seem to have the things I need for a meal or food gets wasted because when I do plan, I don’t plan very well.
I have never been good at meal planning, need help!
I am AWFUL at meal planning. I REALLY need this giveaway!
Thanks for the recipe! I have some fresh peaches I was going to use with a Paula Deen cobbler recipe but this one looks much simpler. Wonderful timely post!
Mercy, that cobbler looks good!!!!
I’d love to try a meal planning service. My challenge is coming up with family friendly recipes that don’t take ages to get on the table. I have a hard time sitting down to plan out a week/month’s worth of meals and doing the shopping list, etc.
I would love that! Meals has to be the most stressful time of my day and even thinking ahead is such a chore. Whether I win or not, I will be checking the site out!
Great idea! It would save me lots of time. I hope i win!
yes, I can definitely use the help… I’m starting up homeschooling this fall for the first time in 5 years… oy!
I could definitely use some menu planning help and I LOVE that they have a vegetarian menu option! I have been considering trying this service and I would love a free trial to see how is works for us.
Your peach cobbler looks YUMMY! I do enjoy cooking so I rely on cook books myself. A meal planner is a good idea
I would love to get better at meal planning!
would love some help with meal planning….avid eater, poor planner:)
On my way out the door to purchase peaches ……
I do all the classic no/no’s – no plan, no idea, no time and no direction. Desperate need of help here. This would help me out so, so much. Thanks for the great giveaway!
Great giveaway! Thanks.
My goodness does that make my mouth water!!!
Thanks for sharing Rhoda…Ive never made a peach cobbler before but this one I just might try.
Well, my biggest problem with meal planning is that I usually just fail to plan at all. This usually results in one tired momma trying to pull something together out of nothing.
The peach cobbler looks and sounds delicious! I am a firm believer in meal planning but have never used an online meal planner. That would certainly make the task much easier. I am definitley going to check out E-Mealz!
~ Tracy
I am always struggling with meal planning….what to make and make it different. We both work, it’s hard to be creative! Anyways, I have a basket of peaches and was wondering what to do with them! Thanks, now I know…..
Cindy
I always have a hard time with meal planning – especially when trying to live a healthier life.
Rhoda – This cobbler looks so delicious! Peaches are my husband’s favorite so this is a must for this wekend! Thanks for sharing your recipe. Looks yummy!!

Barb
That peach cobbler looks and sounds delicious! Peaches are one of my FAVORITE summer fruits! I would love a chance to win that meal planning help. ♥
Wow…the E-Mealz is an awesome idea…I definately could use something like that!
That cobbler looks delicious! I “try” to plan but life tends to get in the way! Anything to make that easier would be great!
Thanks Rhoda;
I don’t understand it…. you take wonderful pics of everything…… but when you photograph your cooking…… it’ s the most gorgeous thing I’ve seen, I almost taste it…. and I just have to go try this one !!!!!!! we love peach cobbler, and i will try yours… it looks great! ( So enjoyed the pics of your mom’s cooking at the cabin…. aren’t those veggie smorsgabords the best?)
I would love the meal planner… even with 42 years of practice, I manage to plan about half the weeks meals, and never fail to forget at least one item I “have to have’ for a meal I want to try during the week…. this would be a God send!
I’ve heard great things about E-mealz…need to check it out! The concept is great and the price certainly is right.
The cobbler looks great! I love those Chilton co. peaches.
I have the worst time planning the meals and coming up with the shopping list. I tried to come up with an easy system to track it, but no such luck. I would love to be chosen for this.
The peach cobbler looks delicious. That is another great thing about living in the south… plenty of peaches! Thanks for sharing your family recipe. I am going to give it a try tomorrow.
Annette
I am going to have to try this recipe. It looks delicious and easy. I just picked a big box of peaches off my tree and I am clueless with what to do with them. This is our third summer in our house and I’m determined to not let all of the fruit go to waste again.
looks fantastic. I will be making this for sure! When peaches run out you need to try Ben and Jerry’s Willie Nelson Country Peach Cobbler! We’ve been eating it all summer and are HOOKED!
Thanks for the giveaway! My problem with meal planning can be summed up in the $30 I just spent on take-out. Oops!
I love peaches and peach cobbler is my favorite dessert. I discovered an easy recipe for peach cobbler a few years ago with a cookie topping.
With just the 2 of us to cook for, it’s just not much fun any more
so maybe this would help us to do better with our eating plan.
Meal planning has always been a challenge my whole life… this would be great to try..
I would love to win this. I have a very hard time deciding what to fix.
I love this idea! With a 16 yr old, a 4 yr old, and an 8 week old baby at home, I need all the help I can get lately. This would be a tremendous time saving tool for me.
