Feature Friday: Cassie at Hi! Sugarplum

Another fun designing mama, Cassie at Hi Sugarplum has done an amazing job updating their 1980’s builder’s beige home that they bought and have been meticulously upgrading.  The kitchen is one gorgeous space after Cassie got ahold of it and it gives me hope that when I get my fixer-upper house, which will most likely be a 70’s or 80’s version, I can have a nice kitchen too.

There are never-ending blogs out there who inspire and create and Cassie is one of them that I met online a couple of years ago.  She’s a mom, decorator, and all around creative gal and you’ll love what she’s done to personalize her home.

foyer

Coming in the foyer, Cassie added this snazzy zebra rug and painted the inside of her doors black.  I’m seriously gonna do this when I move in a new house.  Paint doors black and watch them become more important.

before2

Here’s Cassie’s tired and dated 80’s kitchen.  I need to go over and read all about how she got her new kitchen, cause wow is it beautiful now.

after2

Black cabinets, granite countertops and a pretty subway tile backsplash.  Welcome to the new century, kitchen!

Kitchen before

Don’t you love the drama of kitchen Before and Afters?  Kitchens are certainly fun to update and this is one beautiful kitchen now.

Don’t you agree?

Cassie put a lot of thought into her kitchen and I’m taking notes.

kitchen after2

It’s beyond beautiful now.

bathroom

She’s given an update to a guestroom as well, by painting the vanity, adding a pretty shower curtain, and a few other changes, like those striped walls.

familyroom

Love the colors in Cassie’s living room. It’s so cozy and inviting.

Cassie’s beautiful styled bookcases.

girl's room

Her daughter’s room is so adorable, with all the pops of color and pattern.

yellow highboy

Cassie was one of those bloggers who jumped on the updating an older piece of furniture with a bright color trend and this high-boy got a beautiful yellow coat of paint for her daughter’s room.  Love it!

son's room

Her son’s room is equally poppy with lots of color and texture.

pool bath

A recently completed pool bathroom showcases some favorite pieces and check out the bright door and ceiling.  It’s so pretty.

fireplace B&A

Another dramatic project, this fireplace got a coat of white paint and wow at the difference in this.  Love how updated it looks. I wouldn’t hesitate to paint brick either.  A great way to update and add style to a space.

So, that’s an introduction to the fabulous Cassie from Hi, Sugarplum.  If you haven’t met Cassie yet, please do hop over and say hello.  I know she would love to meet you!

I love those black front doors as well Rhoda. And I have always painted fireplaces..most of the plain brick is just not very attractive. Thanks for sharing! Love seeing before and afters!

  2. Looks great. Did she reface or replace her cabinetry?

  3. Wow…That fireplace transformation is really an eye popper!

  4. Another thumbs up here for painting a brick fireplace. So much better, even though there are some who think it’s a mistake. If a future buyer absolutely must have the look of brick again, let him pay to bring in a faux-finisher!

    Thanks for an inspiring post.

  5. The house looks great I love the cabinets. Are they painted or refaced? I am curious to know. Thanks.

  8. Just an FYI, it’s Hi Sugarplum, not My Sugarplum. I know you’d want to get it right.

  9. Thanks so much, Rhoda!! It’s a thrill to see my home over here on your rockstar blog!!

Thanks for the kind comments, too! I’m pretty much obsessed with my kitchen (would licking it be unnatural??)…the cabinets are an espresso brown, shaker style. The doors have been replaced, with the bases refaced. We had extra crown molding installed on the tops to create a more custom look. The backsplash is glass subway tile *swoon*

  10. Love seeing Cassie over here! Her home is beautiful – love how she puts her personality into the design!

  11. Hi Rhoda! Oh, what a beautiful home! I’ll pop over and look at her blog. I wish you the best and one day you’ll have your dream home and you’ll work your magic on it!
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  12. Beautiful! We have that same high boy but painted black and gold. Love seeing it in a bright color!

  13. I’m taking serious notes too!!!! Love the subway tile!

  14. I love a great before and after! Beautiful home and they did such a great job!

Love that sofa in the living room, and I’ve looked all over to find a source. Does anyone know where Cassie got it? Thanks!!!
