Congrats, ladies! All of you have been emailed, so get back to me ASAP!
I’ve gotten to know over the last 3 years or so. You may all know her as Miss Mustard Seed, but her real name is Marian and she has written a very inspiring and beautiful book, full of her own photography, many taken in her beautiful cottage style home. It’s so exciting to see my blog friends be recognized and all of the opportunities that are coming to bloggers is just so much fun to watch.
If you haven’t been to her blog, you must take a peek. Marian is just as real and down to earth as they come and she was on our Haven team this year, teaching classes on painting furniture, which is one of her many talents. Marian started her own business, painting and selling furniture, which led to her starting a blog and well, her star has risen and she is doing so many wonderful things now. I’m so, so happy for her and it is well deserved.
Her book is just out about a month now and published by Thomas Nelson, a Christian publisher. Inspired You: Letting God Breathe New Life into Your Heart and Home is a lovely book, filled with not only beautiful photos, but Marian’s well-spoken words as well. Marian really knows how to string together sentences and draw you into her world.
Here’s a little video clip from Marian about Inspired You.
From the treasure hunt of finding run-down furniture and bringing it back to life again, to showing how to paint furniture, sew slipcovers and more, Marian inspires all women to work with what they have and decorate on a budget, using the God-given gifts that we all have received.
Taking a peek through the book, you’ll see lots of beautiful rooms in Marian’s home. She’s a wonderful decorator and knows how to put thing together and she teaches us all how to do it as well.
Another awesome opportunity that Marian has been blessed with is getting her own line of milk paint. She is one talented lady in furniture painting and I know so many have been inspired by her to go out and find old furniture to fix up and love again. Click here for the entire list of retailers who are carrying Marian’s new milk paint.
I was so excited for her and have seen her milk paint displays several times now. This was at the Bella Rustica market in TN. Everyone seems to know Miss Mustard Seed!
And today, I get the exciting pleasure of offering up for giveaway THREE of her beautiful new books, Inspired You!
- All you have to do is leave a comment telling me what you’d love to learn the most from Marian’s book.

I love the sibtitle of Marian’s book, “Letting God Breathe New Life Into Your Heart and Home”. I love taking old “things” and turning them into something new (it always brings to mind what God does for us). I first learned about chalk paint from Marian’s blog and will try her milk paint, too. I can’t wait to get this book for my three daughters (and me)!
Regina Harrison says
I’m interested in learning more about the painting/distressing techniques she uses so successfully.

Oh my, what wouldn’t I want to learn from MMS’s book! Let’s just say it would be easier to say what I wouldn’t want to learn (nothing) than what I would like to learn! Love her blog and love yours. When I first started following blogs, I followed many. It got to be too overwhelming. I deleted myself from many but kept the best two in my humble opinion — yours and MMS!!! Thanks for sharing your lives and your generosity. Jean from south jersey

I had the wonderful opportunity to spend time with Marian when she came to Raleigh for her book signings…I have purchased about a dozen books to giveaway to friends and family as I wanted them to have the opportunity to gain inspiration in many ways…inspiration to decorate your home on a budget, inspiration to have confidence to paint that furniture piece, inspiration to always have incredible faith to follow your dreams…I have read her book and I must say, what I took most from it was her faith and strength to follow her heart, her dreams and everything else will fall into place! Marian is an incredible talent and the kindest of souls!

It would be amazing to have this lovely book. It’s just awesome that we have an opportunity to support a “sister in faith”, who spreads the message of finding contentment in renewing what we already have.

It’s more like what can’t I learn from winning this great book, then learning one thing. The entire book looks like it is filled with wonderful ideas and creations. Plus, I would love to just read what she has to say… words can be so empowering to others and help get their own creative juices flowing as well as give them the confidence to try new things!
Dianne says
I would love to have this book! It looks to be so inspiring!

I didn’t know she sewed slip covers – that’s what I’d like to learn. Of course if I had the book I would probably have to find something old to paint, just to try out her painting technique. Thanks for the giveaway Rhoda.
Diane Hinnant says
Thanks for an opportunity to win this great giveaway, Rhoda. I follow MMS and love everything she blogs about, so know I would love the entire contents of her book! However, would be most interested in learning more about her slip covering techniques … a process that scares me to death!
Thanks again,
Diane
