Office Nook Custom Frames (& a Giveaway)
(Comments are now closed for this giveaway)
Ihave been very fortunate to be featured in our local Birmingham paper 4 times in the last 3 years and of course, have saved the articles with the intention of framing them and hanging them in my office nook.
I never got around to that. But, then something even better happened!
Larson-Juhl, a world renowned custom framing company in Atlanta (see their ads in Traditional Home magazine) contacted me about partnering with them and doing a custom frame to fit right in with my office nook look and I couldn’t be prouder of the way they turned out. They assured me that they would take into consideration my office space, how it looks and performs, and choose something to complement it.
And they certainly did!
You can see that the color and style of the frame really enhances my office space and fits right in with what I already have.
Here is how Arlynn from Larson-Juhl described the framing of my articles:
Our in-house designer used one of our new frame moldings from the Biltmore Frame Collection , it’s a large, very classic, ornamented pattern with an antiqued black finish actually inspired by the frames hanging in the historic Biltmore house in Asheville, NC. She also utilized a gold beaded filet (almost like a mini-frame) that sits on the inside edge and then a third, more simple filet (in that same antique black finish) on the very inside of the piece to create a very one of a kind look. We also incorporated two matboards, one in a green color that seems very “you” and another, simple black matboard that the newspaper articles are mounted to – the combination of these two mats really work to make the framed articles look like a priceless piece of artwork & should incorporate nicely into your current home decor.
And I would have to agree. They look fantastic with all of my other colors in here, don’t you think?
You might remember the magazine holder project I did awhile back with scrapbook paper, all in my favorite black, white and green.
And I added 3 pretty crystals that I picked up at an antique store at the beach to my thrifty chandelier.
The zebra memo board got a makeover a few months ago.
And the cording that was added a few months ago, along the lime green wall (Behr’s Grasscloth, same as my laundry room) enhances this space even more.

I’m still in love with my office nook and love it even more now. My memories are complete and will be treasured forever in these custom frames from Larson-Juhl’s Biltmore Collection.
It’s personalized totally for ME! And isn’t that what an office space is all about? I think so. The second frame is just behind my office chair on a small wall and this space is completely filled up now.
Do you have any precious mementos that like me, you are just waiting to frame? If you’ve never considered custom framing, think about it now.
- A treasured keepsake from the past
- A special article from a family member
- Your child’s baby clothes
There are tons of possibilities for custom framing.
Larson-Juhl is going to offer one of YOU a chance to custom frame a precious memory for yourself. Frame size should not exceed 16 x 20 please, so keep that in mind. Their designers will work with you to create a wonderful keepsake for your family to enjoy.
Larson-Juhl has been designing, manufacturing and distributing fine custom frames of enduring style and superior craftsmanship for over 100 years. Great frames! I love yours , I would do some of my artwork…thanks for the give away Rhoda!
I would make a collage of our wedding invitation and program. It is something I’ve always wanted to do.
(15 years later the project still waits!)
I have a wonderful letter from my 22 year old soldier father to his
bride of 3 months which he wrote from England as he was waiting for the Normandy invasion, complete with cut-outs from the censors.
I have a picture of my daughter waiting to be famed & matted!!!
Rhonda..I’m sure you’ve mentioned before but what paint colors did you use in your office. I’m redoing my guest bath in the green/black style but am having the hardest time picking just the right green. If it were fabric it would be done but I’ve painted more green swatches on those little walls and still can’t find the right one.
Thanks,
Kelly
How fun! I like #822831 in the Biltmore collection and I would frame an article featuring my family. We were photographed in our home after we rehabbed our house that had been abandoned after a flood for more than 30 yrs.
I would frame my son’s college diploma. He graduated three years ago, and it’s still on my “to do” list.
I would FINALLY have my favorite wedding photo framed. We haven’t a single photo of one of the most important days of our lives displayed after 5.5 years!
I also love how they did yours: the colors, the type of framing, and the metal beading.
I would either frame a piece of artwork we have recently bought or a family portrait.
Thanks so much for the giveaway.
My son is a senior in high school and has been playing soccer since he was 5 and is now on the varsity team. He has been asking me to frame some of his soccer momentos, newspaper articles and such. I would love to give this to him as a graduation present this spring! (I LOVE your office- so cute!!!) And what a great give away!
Your framed clippings are absolutely beautiful!
I would love to have a photo of my son’s college graduation custom framed.
Thanks for the giveaway!
My son has a sweatshirt signed by a number of Olympic Swimmers. I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out how to frame it tastefully and display in his vintage sport inspired room!
Your articles look great in those stunning frames! I’m so excited about this giveaway. My favorite frame from the Biltmore collection is style number 822830. I have a reproduction of a victorian print that I’d love to have framed in it.
WOW! Their frames are amazing. I have several things I would like framed…so I would LOVE to win! One of the things is a set (or maybe just one) of my husbands golf towels that he collects when he goes to great golf courses!! Pick me!! Pick me!!
We have a little sailor suit baby outfit that my husband’s grandmother made for him, and then our son wore it home from the hospital. I would have it framed so we could preserve it. Thanks for the giveaway!!!
I would frame some of the letters, cards from my (deceased) Dad, especially some of those he wrote my Mom during WW2.
I have a favorite photo of my sweet children and I would love to frame it in a special way. Thanks for your wonderful blog – I enjoy it so much.
Much love,
Michelle
I always have plenty of things to frame! My son got married in May, so would love to do one of their wedding pictures.
Love the Biltmore Collection….and love the way they did your articles!
What a great looking office you have…looks like I need to get to work on mine. I would like to frame a family picture taken at the beach…I like BLACK REFLECTIONS 430BL or EASTLAKE 493615.
Blessings,
Linda
I would frame a local magazine cover that has a photo I took on the cover…or maybe some vintage sheet music I have that was written about my hometown.
Love that green!!!
I’d frame a collection of three treasured family photos – leaving one space empty for a photo of my soon-to-be-niece (or nephew)!!!
Just last night I went and looked at out family pictures we had taken last week. This givaway would be perfect for one of our new photos.
Your office is wonderful and keeps getting better and better.
I’d love to frame a picture I have of my grandma and her sisters. They’re all wearing overalls and straw hats, and they’re so young and cute!
I love your blog, and your office nook is beautiful!
I love Larson-Juhl frames and have used them every year from the Windrush Gallery here in my town to frame the White House XMAS card that my husband received while working at the Pentagon. I still have last year’s to frame and would love to win!
Rhonda, I would love to Frame our 40 anniversary photo taken with Elvis; this was a party that our daughters held for us this last past August 16th. All the guest sign the photo and its so awesome. I just love the idea of what they did for your office. I just may need help with my office. I also love the Biltmore line of frames. Your office is so pretty and I also have green but it is a resin green. It was a color selected from on of our local home builders.
Our ten year anniversary is coming up and I still have yet to have the mat fromed that we had our guest sign in leiu of a guest book. I have the picture ready to go with it as well.
I am thinking for our anniversary finally getting this done.
If I were to pick out a frame for the project I would chose,
Ambrosia ITEM NO779184.
Thanks for the chance to win.
Oh, I have collected several things from when my Mom (who
passed 18 yrs ago) was a baby that I’ve wanted to frame but
have never gotten around to it. Or frame some of the paper
dolls that she made for herself in the ’30′s that are real works
of art and need preserving. I would love to have help with
either of these. Thanks for sharing.
I would love to have my grandparent’s and my husband’s grandparent’s wedding pictures framed to hang in my bedroom.
I still haven’t framed (nicely anyway) my wedding photos. From 15 years ago!
I have a box of very old (probably 60-70 years) fishing bobbers that belonged to my grandfather. I have always thought of puttingthem into a frame. It seems a bit crazy to put them in something as elegant as the Biltmore collection frames by my home is decorated in a traditional syle and a rustic frame just does not seem right either. I think this would be an opportunity for creativity to shine!
Wow, the frames are beautiful. I would have a replica of a local artist’s painting of my granfather when he was young.
Thanks for the inspiration!
I have several things that come to mind but I think I would frame a picture of my husband’s high school basketball team. Thanks for the chance to win!
I love their site!! They do such lovely work.
I have many things to frame but I think I would save the framing to have a pix framed of my very first Grandbaby due in April. Yep I,m finally gonna be a Grandma!! I love your office nook!! The new framed pix is stunning and fits in so nicely.
I have two newspaper write-ups that I have been saving to get framed as well, Rhoda. It will have to be custom too, because one is part of a center spread and the other is a full newspaper size page. The words “very expensive” are going through my mind, though, so I’ll probably wait. Michaels sometimes has a sale of 60% off custom framing, so I might look into that. Anyway, your frame looks great! It totally fits in with your office {which I never tire of looking at}!
I think we would do some kind of collage of our Golden Retriever, Ruby. We lost her last October to cancer, she was our first dog.
I would frame a magazine write-up of my wedding. Thanks for all of the inspiration!
Great frames! I have been wanting to update my husband’s office space since it is very apparent that it is becoming “our” office space:) He needs his diplomas framed…and some other pieces to make the office complete.
Thanks for the give away!
Rhoda – what a charming workspace. It must not even feel like working in that office! Mine is so much more utilitarian – I may have to take a page from you and infuse a little more pizzazz in my space. Very inspirational!
As for the framing – what a cool give away. I’m a cross-stitcher and have finished a very complex vintage Santa in a sleigh project that I’d love to have framed. #622830 will fit it perfectly since there are gold threads in Santa’s robes and sleigh. Am I really thinking about Christmas already?
Terrie
I would frame one of my grandmother’s vintage hankies. I have several that over 100 years old.
Oh, the Biltmore frames are gorgeous! As for the framing item, my dear father passed away and in a drawer, my mom found old photos of him and his Gaelic football team. He looked so young and vibrant. I would love to honor him with a beautiful frame – kind of traditional since it is an old B&W photo from the 50′s.
I would like to custom frame a set of four pictures: Me & my daughter at similar ages, and my hubby & son at similar ages. It’s amazing to see how similar we look in baby pictures!
I’d frame my college diploma. I got my degree 11 years ago, and my diploma is still in an envelope in a box in the closet.
I have some pictures from my father-in-law’s 75th birthday party this spring that I would love to frame and display. It was such a great event where almost everyone in the family (from 3 different states) was able to get together. Those are beautiful frames. It would be perfect!
Rhoda, I have never commented before, I love your blog, thank you for sharing. I would love to frame my mothers infant baby dress. It is the only item she has from her childhood. The Biltmore Collection is beautiful. I am going to my local framer and see if the have the samples from the Biltmore Collection!
I would love to use a frame to put together an outfit of mine and my daughter’s as infants. I have wanted to do this since she was tiny and have not gotten around to it. I think it would be a great way to memorialize mother and daughter and be something we can pass down through the generations!
I have my grandmothers white dress gloves that i would like to frame…remember when a southern lady NEVER went out in public without them?
I would frame our family. I don’t have a single family picture of us hung in our house. Pretty sad don’t ya think?!
I love, love, love your office and always drool over it. The frames are the perfect addition and add some pizazz.
Fall Blessings,
Natalie
I love so many of the frames! (Yours looks great in your fab office, by the way!)
If I win I would give it to a friend who wants to frame all her huband’s Boy Scout medals for an anniversary present. She doesn’t really have the money to have this professionally done, so I would love to win this for her.
What BEAUTIFUL frames! I would LOVE to get a picture I painted framed. I painted it over 10 years ago. It’s a pic of a restaurant that my friends and I visited almost every day while visiting England. Thanks…
They did a beautiful job on your frame! I would have our wedding photo custom framed. It’s been in a frame for 12 years, but I’ve been thinking about re-doing it lately.
I would have my parents wedding photograph reframed. They’re both gone now, and I would love to hang this in my house. It’s a black and white photo, but it makes my heart happy to see them, so young and happy at the beginning of their 35 years together. I’ve tried to find a frame that does it justice but just haven’t been able to perfect it.
Melinda
Oh- have have a beautiful old dress of my great grandmother that I’d love to frame for my daughters room. I also have so many old photos that need to be properly taken care of! How fun to get one done for me!
I love your blog, by the way. Read it everyday.
I used to be a newspaper reporter… I would have my absolutely favorite piece framed.
YES!
i have yet to frame any of my wedding pics from the photographer. the large pieces that they give you. i would def frame that up!
I would have my mascot uniform framed. When I was 4 years old I was a mascot for a high school. It is a 2 piece made of white satin material with beautiful fringed trim on the skirt (so sweet & tiny). It’s now 50 years old! and I would love to have it framed to pass down to my children and grandchildren. Perhaps included in the frame a photo of me when I was wearing the uniform.
I would love the Bolshoi Traditional frame or any of the silver traditional frames!
My husband’s business has been featured a couple of times in the local paper and I’d love to frame one of those articles!
I was also interviewed in our local paper in January for a piece about mom bloggers.
I have a beautiful print of the beach that my husband gave me for Christmas ……going on 4 years ago…to remind me of our incredible family vacations every year at Mexico Beach and Cape San Blas, Florida……..I would love to have it framed so that I could finally hang it on our beatiful mantel.
That is a very pretty and adds such a nice touch to an already pretty space.
I would have them frame a picture my son drew when he was only 4. It was the first time he drew him and I together. You can tell the basic forms are a small child and larger person (me). I have it framed but nothing like the beautiful job they did on your articles.
I love that space even more now! They could not have picked a better frame for you my dear…just beautiful! I see that you have added some crystals to you channdie….pretty pretty I might add. Just when I think you have got it just perfect and you and make it even better… Sweet~
Opps…I wanted to say you go and make it better….thanks~
What a wonderful site. I would have my favorite picture of my granddaughter framed real pretty for her room that I am giving a makeover. My daughter had 4 miscarrages so I just treasure so many things of my blessed Hanna. And this would be a hugh suprize for her to walk in and see hanging in her room when she comes to stay with Nanny. lol
Thanks for the chance of winning such a wonderful gift. Kath’ at dublshot@comcast.net
My teenage daughter gave me a self-portrait she sketched in pencil for mother’s day. It’s so perfect and special but I haven’t yet decided how to frame it. Thanks for the opportunity to have a real professional make that decision for me!
I have a collection of snapshots of my husband’s (deceased) father during his time in Korea. My husband doesn’t know I was able to obtain these snapshots, and I have been trying to come up with a way to display them for awhile now. This could definitely be it!
That looks so pretty in your office! The whole office is neat! I wish I could figure out how to cluster things like that without them looking cluttered, or how to mix so many patterns without it looking like I just put stuff together with no thought of coordination. I usually just go minimal because I can’t fake randomness well. lol.
Their frames are all so beautiful! The 722831 in black is AWESOME! Unfortunately I don’t think I have anything worth putting in a frame that nice! My husband seems to be eternally deployed or off for Navy training and so we neither have children nor any framable photos of ourselves together. lol. I’m working on an embroidered family crest, so probably something like that. lol
Looks awesome Rhoda! I would have a family photo framed that was taken this summer.
My son is running for the U.S. Congress. I would love to have
his pictures of his announcement framed to hang in his
Congressional Office in Washington DC. Would not that
be amazing??
I have my great-grandparents Marriage Certificate that I would love framed. If that is too large, then definitely a family portrait of hubby, the kids, and me.
I have a few sketches that I made a while back that I would really like framed. Your office is simply fabulous though. Maybe we can exchange some decor tips and secrets? Drop by Furniture and Design Ideas sometime.
I would frame a picture my oldest paint 2 years ago of a bird. It is a wonderful painting, and it would make it a REAL keepsake!
OR I would frame the Santa pictures that I do every few years with a local photographer of the kids. This year, we are doing pj pictures, and they always turn out VERY well! He REALLY captures their personalities!
I would frame our family picture….I have a frame that I’ve never really been happy with….I change the photo out whenever we update our family picture and I would love the frame to really go along more with our decor.
Thank you for the chance to win this.
My daughter won the 4-H County Queen Pageant this summer and I would love to frame her sash and some memoriabilia from this day. She was also given the printing plate from the local newspaper of the front page announcing her win – would love to frame this too!
Love the job they did for you! I would probably choose to frame some artwork for our house as I am just getting around to really decorating after moving in 3 years ago. Better late than never.
How wonderful that I have a Frame Shop very close to me that sells Larson-Juhl. I would love to frame my grandson’s Senior picture. He is special.
Turned out beautifully, well done!
I would love a frame for my wedding announcements!
Your newspaper tribute framed looks perfect in your office. Really classy.
If I was to be the lucky winner of this fabulous giveaway, I would choose frame #422831 its looks to be the perfect size and so pretty. I would also choose a portrait of my grandchildren to be framed around them like a big hug. That is how I look at framing when I have anything custom framed I always look for a frame that compliments and wraps around like a big safe hug.
Lovely post enjoy your day,
Elizabeth
I would love to have my newspaper article framed also!!! Yours looks great Rhoda!
I have a 40+ year old picture of my late husband as a child. It would be fabulous in a Larson-Juhl frame!!
I would frame a picture I have from my wedding of my husband’s family. It is the last family picture they have before his father passed away. I wish that his cousin had made, but nonetheless it is really sentimental now without Hubby’s dad alive.
P.S. Thanks for sharing with us about this framing group. I might look into them for a few frames that I will need to handle once the house is finished.
My beloved grandfather’s railroad cap and watch. I’ve been looking for just the right frame to create a shadowbox to do them justice. Or, my mother’s christening dress. What beautiful frames they have available.
I would frame photos of my daughter when she met her idols, the Greenbush twins, who played Carrie on Little House on the Prairie.
I’d do a wedding pic of my hubby and I
Family… Fun…Memories….just a combo of life in our home.
It would look beautiful on my bedroom wall and I would look at it each morning and evening …the perfect way to start and finish my day!
I would get the photography ad my son was in when he was 6 weeks old.
Your office is gorgeous!! I love those color combos!
I would defiantly frame the picture from my header of my blog. I took the picture but it just is very special to me on many levels. I love your decor.
I have a beautiful metal mesh purse that belonged to my grandmother. I would love to have that framed and displayed in my house. What a great give a way!
Your office nook is fantastic and the custom framing just puts something special on the walls.
I would frame the charcoal drawing Dad (an artist)did of Mom’s beloved border collie/spaniel mix Duchess. Fifty five years ago, Mom and Dad were dating. Dad came over to meet the parents and Duchess for the first time. The next date, he presented Mom with the lovely drawing. The eyes are so expressive, every detail of the harness leather collar stitching and buckle is there. It is now in a thrift shop frame, If there were a disaster, that drawing would be one of the first things I’d rescue.
I would love to frame my hubby’s baby trousers that were handmade by his mother, 61 yrs ago! I also have photos my my children & grandchildren that I want to add. I’ve been thinking about doing this myself…but one of those projects I never get around to.
Love your framed article & little office. I too am a fan of green!
Before I got married I was on the American Red Cross national disaster team. The local chapter featured a picture of me with a child after Hurricane George, sitting by his torn up home in Puerto Rico. I’ve always wanted to frame this! I’m also a big fan of family photography, and some nice photos of our family would be nice too!
I actually have several things I would like to have framed- college diplomas, family picture, son’s outfit he wore home from the hospital, or my grandmother’s bonnet.
My oldest daughter, Amber, who was 29 years old passed away on July 24 (2 months today) : ( She would have been 30 years old on August 30 and she had already purchased her scrapbook and stickers for BIG 30 birthday. We had a Celebration of her life on what would have been her 30th b’day. I would love to win and frame memories of her life, especially the memorial in our local paper to her on August 30. I have so much I could incorporate into a memorial of her. I miss her so much! She had a rare form of muscular dystrophy and was basically fine one day and gone the next. It has been such a shock to us. My husband and I were with her and cared for her 24/7 and life will never be the same without her. I do know she is walking the streets of Heaven – but oh how I miss her! Thank you and I do love your blog. I live about an hour north of B’ham.
Your nook is quite cluttered and does no justice to a high-end company like Larson-Juhl.
I don’t know which I love more- your office or your laundry room. May I have permission to copy both in my next house? Congrats on the article(s) and the beautiful frame!
It amazes me that those with negative comments never leave their name, but use euphemisms such as “reader”. They must be too afraid of being found out. “Reader”, whoever you are: not everyone likes the sterile, contemporary look. I, for one, would rather be surrounded by color and mementos. I think Rhoda’s nook is lovely!
I would love to have my grown sons christening outfits framed.
Rhoda, beautiful addition to your office, love it and your colors..
I would love to win a custom framing..I have a 16×20 family picture I have been needing framed for 2 years…its waiting for just the right frame!
I’m single. Don’t have children. Soooooo of course I would frame mementos from the times that I’ve seen my favorite band!! LOLOL! I have tickets, pictures with the band, autographs, etc. that I think would look great together in a beautiful frame to always remind me of all the fun times and great friends I’ve met throughout the years listening to my favorite band – Journey !
I would frame my college diploma with a picture of me in my cap and gown. I spent nine years earning a bachelor’s degree, working full-time and paying as I went so I wouldn’t have debt. I graduated 10 years ago and the diploma is still sitting in a box. I would love to have it displayed for my children to see.
I would have the two poems framed that my hubby wrote for me. By the way, I love your office nook. Great colors and patterns and I heart the initials on the wall.
