In case you might worry that I’ll be out of practice on my thrifting by Spring, think again. I still like to pop in a thriftstore every chance I get and this was one I had not been in before. Mission: Possible Thriftstore over in the Irondale area, which benefits the Jimmie Hale Mission. I scoured the plates and dishware and came up with this beautiful large white bowl for $1.09, with pretty scrollwork on the edges and of course it came home with me.
Then, I spotted 4 of these ever-so-cute desserts plates, all sporting delicious winter drinks in the middle: Hot Chocolate & Mulled Cider
Cappuccini and Coffee
Aren’t they cute? They aren’t old or anything, but I just thought they were too adorable to pass up at 39 cents each.
And my big splurge of the day? Passing by the ladies clothes, this buttery yellow cotton sweater by J. Jill jumped out at me and for $4, looks to be in perfect condition. I love sweaters and it fits like a glove!
Swinging by a yardsale on the way home from the gym last Saturday a.m. (even after 10:00), I snapped up this beautiful Made in Portugal white pierced bowl for only $2. I saw it as I was walking up the driveway and had to keep myself from sprinting for it.
Those of you who have started white dish collections, be patient and take your time. They will come to you and you’ll end up with more than you can imagine in just a short time. You’ll probably see this beauty in my Christmas decorating.
So, see….I’m staying in practice!
You’ll notice that I have a NEW Friend Connect up on my sidebar, so if you use that feature, I’d appreciate you Friending me too! Thanks so much, I had that up before I moved my blog and had to start over with this one.
Also, just to let you know, the Holiday House raised just over $13,000 for the missionaries of By Provision. Isn’t that fantastic?! We are all so happy to be a part of it.

Love the dishes, especially the scroll work on the bowl. And the dessert dishes are so whimsical and cute!!
I love J. Jill. They have a few in downtown Chicago and I found one in Naples, Fl. when I ran short on T`shirts, otherwise I order online. The pale yellow will look beautiful with your blonde hair.
What a treasure trove you came home with. Unbelievable prices!!

You found some great things! And congratulations on the successful fundraising at the Holiday House. It was so fun to see the decorating and so great that so much money was raised. Thanks for giving us the tour!
That white pierced bowl! Wow!! I think I would have run up the driveway!
Hey Rhoda!!
I sent you a picture a while back of my white collection “starter kit”. I don’t even have any shelves up yet (waiting to finish painting the walls)…and already probably have too much!! It’s as though I’m on a mission now to find white ware!! I’m sure I’ll sift through it when I am ready to display it, and just use my favorite pieces.
Have a GREAT Monday!!
Oh, such great buys Rhoda!!! I love the white bowl, sweater is fantastic and that bowl from portugal!!! OH MY! I can even imagine it with an organdy white or little colored ribbon run thru the slits……too wonderful!

I went thrifting this weekend, and while I didn’t come home with any dishes (this time!), I did get a few things…
Glad to see I’m not the only one haunting the racks and aisles this fall!
Now you’ve found my secret. That is the trift store I go to most.
I recently got a wonderful wood chair for $5 there and when
I get the cushions made I’ll send you a pic. You’ve gotten us

Hi Rhoda,
Oh my, I could not have passed up the white bowl either. Its a real gem. I can just see some white and silver shear ribbon running through the cut work.
Please show us what you do with your great finds.
Enjoy your day,
Elizabeth
Fabulous finds… again!! I love seeing your treasures – they’re always so fun!
I go by Mission Possible at least once a month during my lunch hour. My best finds are clothes for hubby- (Polo, Lacoste, etc!)
I love JJill sweaters. That was an awsome find!!!
Great finds, Rhoda! And once again you’ve made me miss Birmingham. It warms my heart to think that your purchases benefited the Jimmie Hale Mission. Our Sunday school class used to make meals for the women and children’s shelter arm of the JHM–is it called Jessie’s Place? It’s been many years, but it was a great ministry, and it was an honor to get to be involved. Thanks for the little trip down Memory Lane!
Thanks so much for mentioning our Eastwood store in your blog, Rhoda. All proceeds go to help the Jimmie Hale Mission and we greatly appreciate your words of praise. Your readers might also like to know that we have Mission Possible Bargain Thrift stores in Pinson and Hanceville as well.
Thanks again for your wonderful words!
P.S. Yes, Richella – Jessie’s Place is our women and children’s shelter. They always need caring volunteers like yourself if you ever want to get involved again. Their number is 323-0170.

Great buys!!! I thought of you on Saturday as I passed a GORGEOUS Fenton milkglass cake plate. I wanted to buy it so badly, but they were asking $20+ and I didn’t have that much with me. I did get a Williams Sonoma bundt pan for $2 though.

Just found your blog. Those little dessert plates are so cute! I love thrifting too…it’s one of my favorite past times
Oh goodness, I would have sprinted and tackled you for that bowl!
It is just beautiful. I was getting very worried that you might be forgetting how to thrift and yardsale, so you set my mind at ease with this post~
Rhoda,
I would like to replace our kitchen tile with hardwood floors in the near future. However, we are currently working on other projects so it’s on the bottom of the “To Do List.” I’m thinking of purchasing large area rugs for now. Do you have any suggestions where I might find the best deal on rugs? You always seem to get the best deals on everything you buy so I thought you would be the gal to ask.
