Tell Me About YOU!

This ole’ blog of mine sure has evolved since I started it and I’m not even sure how many original readers I still have now.  I don’t think all that many who started with me are still reading, but so many of you have joined in along the way and I’m SO grateful for YOU, YOU, and YOU!  If you have been reading my blog from the beginning, I’d love to hear about it.

Y’all make this so much fun for me and I’d love to hear from YOU today.  I’ve often wondered who all is reading.  You lurkers are a mysterious bunch and don’t come out very often.  Unless I’m having a giveaway. :)   Then, you come out of the woodwork.

So, today is all about YOU!  Tell me as much as you want to share, I’d love to know at least what state you live in, how old you are and what you do, if you work out of the home or are a stay at home mom/wife.  If you don’t mind sharing.  I just think this will be so much fun and instead of me talking, YOU can do the talking today.

OK, who’s first! Come on, don’t be shy, tell me about yourself.  We’re all friends here and I would love to know more about my wonderful readers.

And if you have a question for me too, ask away! I’ve got plenty to share from my trip to Atlanta this weekend, but thought this would be fun to do while I get some pics sorted, so I’ll get to that a little later.

Oh, and I just have to throw this in….hello my name is Rhoda, not RhoNda, as many of you think it is! :)   I have to laugh, because I’ve been called Rhonda all my life and usually had to correct my teachers the first day of school.  I will be 53 in December.

Howdy Neighbor!
My name is Robin, I am 44 years old and I live in Southside, Alabama (just south of Gadsden). I am happily married to the man of my dreams (almost 11 years now), Greg, and we have a beautiful little boy, Baylor, who is 4 years old. I wish I could say that I’m a stay at home Mom, but no such luck. I work in an administrative position at a steel manufacturer. About 3 years ago, we bought the kind of house that I’d always dreamed of (2-story, country cottage style, surrounded by trees) and I’ve been busy trying to get it decorated in “my” style. Thanks to you and your blog, I have gotten so many wonderful ideas! My next project is to paint my dining room suite black….using your instructions, of course! I really enjoy your blog…read it every day. Did you make it to the Mount Laurel community sale last week-end? I ended up having a yard sale myself…so I didn’t make it. Let us know when you’re having YOURS….I may try to come!

Hi Rhoda, I’m one of your lurkers. I’ve been reading for about 6 months now. I used to live in B’ham as well, so I love to hear about the ole town every now and then. I’m still in Alabama though, but I’ve been in two other southern states since B’ham. Let’s just say I will forever be a Southern Gal!

I’m 35 and I work from home.

Hi Rhoda! My name is Gail and I am 50 and live outside of Houston, TX with my husband, whom I’ve been married to for 25 years. I have two beautiful grown (20′s) daughters that live in Texas.

I found your blog one year ago when I was searching online for a fabulously decorated home office nook……and when I saw yours, I was so inspired by the look of your office, I transformed my little computer nook (former bar area) into a
place that I can be proud of.

Thanks for ALL of your inspiring projects, thrift finds, decorating ideas, etc. I enjoy so enjoy reading your blog!

My name is Zoe and I am 47 years old and live in beautiful Hobe Sound, Florida. I had never even heard of blogging when I was searching for tureen fabric for my kitchen and your blog came up. What a great surprise! Numerous times my husband hears “Look at this, it’s just like the one we have”. I think we are decorating sisters with our tastes being so similar. We just bought a new house so the remodeling and decorating fun is getting ready to begin. Thank you for being such an inspiration, I just love your blog!

Hi Rhoda!
I’m Amy and have been a lurker for a few months now– but no longer!! I started a blog (last week), but as of right now I have only one post– and your blog is mentioned in it! I am looking forward to participating in link parties of the homemaking/thrifting/DIY kind but I need to finish some projects first!

Currently, I am a stay-at-home mom to two wonderful children and have been married to my loving husband for 12 years. I am 38 years old.

I was born and raised in Cobb County, GA (that’s right!), but have spent most of my adult life moving around the Southeast (GA, NC, TN-twice) with family in tow. We now reside in NE Tennessee.

This blog thing is pretty new to me– I didn’t know until recently that there is a treasure trove of great ideas and beautiful homes for inspiration. Looking forward to becoming more involved. Thank you for your blog!

-Amy
P.S.–I would love to be added to your blogroll, if possible.

Hi Rhoda,
I am Teresa, from the Upstate of South Carolina (just outside of Greenville). During the school day, I teach visually impaired kids. I am the mom of two elementary school age boys, who make decorating (or just keeping a neat house) a challenge. I cannot remember where I found your blog, but it has been very inspiring to me. We recently moved to a new house and I am in the process of decorating. I love to hit yard sales and stores that sell vintage items, although my time during the school year is somewhat limited.

We have two married daughters, a 19 month old granddaughter and another granddaughter due in January. I am an educator working in administration. We live in a suburb north of Houston.
I love to read, shop, travel, sew, and, of course, decorate my home. I also count my blessings because I am a child of the King!

Hi Rhoda, I used to be a stalker, but have had my blog since July. Your blog and your beautiful home are one of my favorite places to visit. I am 46, I married when I was 20, to the sweetest man on earth, we have 2 son’s, 19 and 23. I have been an RN since I was 21, I work in Neonatal ICU. I work 3-12hour shifts per week. It is often difficult to fit all the things I want to do into my days off, but I try. I have more ideas than I have time.
I have a question for you, do you have any children? How long have you and your man been together?
Your blog will stay at the top of my favorites. Marla

I go to school full-time and work part-time. Since I live in an apartment (and am poor), there’s not much opportunity for decorating, but going through all these blogs is a great procrastination tool! Otherwise, I’m a pretty typical college student. Cheers!

I loved the pics of the home you had before you got married. I was so happy for you when you married and so happily settled down in a new city and in a new home. I am so thrilled for you.

Me, well, I live in Manitoba, Canada. My husband is an Associate Pastor at a lovely church. I am a stay at home wife, I go with him when he does marriage counseling, hospital visits, etc. and I look after my grade school aged grand children after school every day. I just love your blog and think you are such an awesome woman! I was actually surprised at how fast you responded to my email the time I wrote you and truly appreciated your response!
My name is Melissa and I am 27 years old. I lice in Sacile, Italy until March 2012! It is about a 45 minute train ride to Venice. I am away from home ( South Carolina) because my husband is in the United States Air Force. I will always be a southern gal no matter where in the world I am placed! I am a stay-at-home mama to an adorable sweet almost 4 month old boy, Kyler! It is tough getting a job on this base due to a contract with the Italians unless I want to bag groceries so I stay at home but I must say it is by far the best job I have ever had in my life! I also have a awesome little dog, Bailey who will always be my first “child!”

I am also happy to announce that I am taking the baby to the States in 2 weeks for 2 whole months and I can’t wait to eat, shop and spend time with family! Hopefully even check out some flea markets and go to holiday craft shows!

Your blog is fabulous and I enjoy checking it out when I can!

I am one of your Mississippi neighbors and I give you and your blog credit for helping me ‘reinvent’ myself after retiring from 34 years of teaching 2nd grade!

I have started going to yard sales and ‘reinventing’ things found treasures!

In fact, my friend and I are on the list to have a booth at an antique/flea market place near my home. And I’m helping stock my son’s antique mall booth. I’m having a blast-not making a whole lot of money-but getting lots of satisfaction!

Hi Rhoda, I read your blog every day and love it; you’ve inspired me to start painting and redecorating my home (again). I’ve painted and wallpapered my office cabinets (rescued when our kitchen was redone) with beadboard wallpaper; that was so successful that I’m considering covering old wood paneling in my family room with another style of paintable wallpaper.

Oh yes, about me, I’m from the Upper South but have lived in the Mountain West for many years. I’m 63 and retired; retirement gives me the time to follow my passions – photography, gardening, digital scrapbooking and greeting card design. Books are another love; I have at least 15 books waiting to be read, but who has the time? I have five, soon to be 6, grandbabies but since they range in age from 17 to 2 not all want to be known as babies.

My home is usually covered in dog hair with 3 dogs and 1 cat, but what would life be without them. Life is good…thank you for your inspiration.

Sorry for being late to the party! I’ve been a fan since the old days of GI. You’re the reason we have a black and cream toile bedroom. These days your decorating influence can be found in St. Augustine, where I live with my husband of 23 years, and our 17 year old. We have a 22 year old daughter who lives in Orlando. I am 46. Oh, and even my husband knows who you are! Yes, as we stood last night in the house we are having built, gazing at the boring builder’s bathroom mirrors, my husband commented that he would be following your instructions for framing. He was most likely thinking how he wished he had married someone who could do it herself!

Hey Rhoda!!

You know I’m here in Birmingham, but I’m 28 and I do a bit of staying at home and working at home as an accountant. And I think you’re one of the nicest in-real-life and in-blog-life bloggers out there!!!

Hope you’re having a great week!

My name is Missy. Let me first apologize for being late to the party! I live in Alabama, just on the outskirts of Birmingham. I have identical daughters who are 4 and they are my world. I stumbled upon Rhoda’s blog via Twice As Nice blog and fell in love! I was raised visiting some of the same flea markets you visit but I truly never realized what great finds there are. You have opened my eyes. I love reading your blog!

Hi Rhoda

Thanks for visiting our blog last night. I can’t remember how we came across your site. I believe it was through one of the blog ranking sites. We are new to blogging, so I decided to look at the most successful blogs. I loved yours. We are a married couple in our mid 30′s, living in the Greater Toronto Area in Canada. As new homeowners, we enjoy interior decorating, home shows, decorating shows and some heavy duty gardening. Greetings from Ontario.
