Another Week of Thrifty Treasures

Picture 002

It was a crisp, but sunny Saturday a.m., as Debbie and I, along with her daughter, Tiffany, hit the yardsales in Chelsea and found a couple of estate sales and a few yardsales.  This one was out in the country at this neat house and the lady had a huge barn filled with all sorts of collectibles and antiques.  We got excited just driving up and scoping out the scene.  Picture 003

The barn was a treasure trove.  She has been an antiques collector for years and was in declutter mode.

Picture 001

Debbie spotted this set of shutters and got them for the fantastic deal of $5!  I was about to wrestle her for them, but really she can use them more than I can and they will be so cute down at her Gulf Shores condo.  I think this was the deal of the day though.  She was a happy girl.  I think I’ve created a monster now and Debbie finally “gets” the yardsale and thrifting thing.  ‘Bout time!! 🙂 Picture 007

I only found 2 things at that sale and these were my finds for the day.  A rickety old plant stand with a lot of character. Picture 008

The top is 1/2 falling apart, but it will look cute with a nice plant on top, so I’ll just have to find the right spot for it.  It was $10. Picture 006

And this pretty old old painting was $20, more than I usually spend, but I loved it, so decided a splurge was OK for something like this.  I’ve got a fun project going with all my vintage artwork that I can wait to show you, so this will be joining them.

Today’s Thrifty Treasures is brought to you by Crystal at Vintage Remixed.  She has a cute Etsy shop called Olive Rue and is offering up some cute giveaway items.  Click over to my giveaway page for all the details on this $50 prize, but don’t forget to sign up!! Crystal was a regular at my Thrifty parties last year and you might remember her blog, Olive Rue.  Now she’s back with a new blog,  called Vintage Remixed, so go on over and say hello.

So, now it’s YOUR turn! What have YOU found lately. Add your link to the Linky list and remember our guidelines for the party:

  1. Add your permalink to the link list, which is the actual post that you did for this party, NOT your general blog url. To get the actual post, after you publish the post, just click on the title and THAT will be your party post url. Last year, I can’t tell you how many links I had to fix. This year I might get mean & delete them, so PLEASE try to get the correct url in the first time! 🙂
  2. Please add my button to your post or blog OR at least link back to this post in your post. That’s all I ask. It’s common courtesy to link back to the person having the party, so that all of your readers can find it too.

  1. Thank you, Rhoda. You are such a wonderful host and friend! Simply the best…dahling. I love the old shutters and what a steal for $5. The plant stand has so many possibilities. Are you going to leave it like that?

  2. Rhoda,
Thanks so much for hosting! I’ve been reading your blog for a while and I just started one of my own! I love the painting. Can’t wait to see what you do with it!

  3. Rhoda, I am lovin’ that little oil painting. It should look great grouped in a bunch of vintage things and perhaps some shelving and some plates. Can’t wait to see where you place it. Thanks for hosting, once again.
    ~ Sue

  4. Rhoda, I love the little oil painting. It will so well in a grouping with other vintage pretties, perhaps a shelf or two, and some plates. Can’t wait to see where you put it. Thanks, once again, for hosting the party.

  5. Wow! I hate that I missed that sale in Chelsea. I had a friend in town and we went to sales, but didn’t have that on our list! I only found a couple of small things (nothing to blog about), so I’ll have to sit out on this week’s thrifty treasures!

  6. HI Rhoda! I just love those shutters–what a great find! But I think you also scored with that lovely old painting. $20 seems like a great price for that!

I don’t know if I’ve ever linked to one of your Thrifty Treasures posts before. . . I’m excited to be here! 🙂 Thank you for hosting.

  7. Thanks for hosting this…this linky party is by far my favorite thing in Blogland.

Love the shutters your friend found…I have an old pair I found last year I need to refurbish and then get some inspiration of what to do with them.

  12. please show us what Debbie is going to do with the shutters. I have two sets and want some ideas.

  13. You sure do find good deals. I don’t find that many. How do you do it?

Rhoda, I am still smiling about the post you were so excited about visiting the Pioneer Woman at the ranch. It took me a while to find your back post to reread it to enjoy your excitement all over again. I was so impressed I emailed her to ask her what font she used on her header. She promptly responded and I was excited about that! Of course the pretty font she uses for Pioneer Woman is not in my MacBook. Can’t wait to hear all about the ranch.
I also reread your blogging tips and they were very helpful. I am stretching my brain to learn everything.

  14. You two found some great things! Good for you!

  15. I love the items that you found “thrifting”. Great finds!! Can’t wait to see how the plant stand turns out. Love & blessings from NC!

  16. Hi Rhoda…..this is my last visiit I am off to b e d !!!

So glad you found the mother of all tag sales and has some fun converting your friend too. The oil painting is stunning.

What is the name of the barn in Chelsea – I may have to check it out soon.
