You can skip weeks as much as you want or cancel the service at any time, but I think you’d enjoy trying it out if you haven’t already. It sure comes in handy when schedules are tight or if you’re traveling and running too fast to stop and grocery shop.
Hi, friends, it’s that time of year where time is short and we are all staying busier than usual with shopping, gift wrapping, Christmas musicals attending, family time, parties, and lots more. Whew! It’s enough to wear us all out before the big day arrives. I prefer not to get so harried and busy this time of year, so each December I make an effort to slow down and really savor the season.
One way to slow things down and give yourself a little more time and grace is to have a meal delivered to your front door. I’ve enjoyed working with Blue Apron many times before and getting meals sent to my door, so I’m sharing another meal with you today.
The best thing about Blue Apron is they deliver all the ingredients right to your door all packaged and ready to prepare. You don’t have to go to the grocery store, Blue Apron does all the shopping for you.
When time is short during the Holiday season, Blue Apron is there to help you out and don’t we all need a little help this time of year? Meal planning, shopping and prepping can be so tiresome with everything else on the to-do list. I have a hard time keeping up with meal planning myself on a weekly basis, but we all have to eat, so cooking at home is the most cost effective way to feed ourselves. As much as we enjoy eating out, it’s expensive and we have had to curtail eating out and don’t do it nearly as often as we used to. I’ve got about a dozen meals that I regularly prepare for us, so I definitely need some new recipes.
The meal I chose is Miso and Soy steak, with a pan sauteed ribeye steak and side dish of turnips, sweet potato and kale.
Another great thing about Blue Apron is that you can skip deliveries and plan for when you’ll be home in between traveling or whatever else is going on that week. Also, you can cancel at anytime.
The meals arrive in a refrigerated box, so even if you don’t get it right away, your food will still be good. You do have to prep and cook the meals, but everything is right there for you. I’ve enjoyed using many ingredients that I wasn’t familiar with before and not something I would readily have in my pantry.
You can choose from a selection of meals offered for that week from 8 choices, instead of 6 as it used to be, so lots more variety to appeal to everyone. And you can choose meals for 2 people or the Family plan with meals starting at $8.99 per person. Now that’s cost effective!
Each menu is between 500-800 calories per person, so these are healthy well-balanced meals too. that allow you to make chef inspired recipes at home.
Ingredients are farm fresh and sourced from quality local suppliers and artisans.
All meals can be prepared in 40 minutes or less. (love this part!) As you can see above, all the ingredients are well marked for each recipe and the bags have handy tags on them identifying what goes with what. The only thing that is not included is olive oil and salt and pepper. They figure you have that in the pantry.
This meal was an easy prep with chopping veggies and putting them in the oven to roast.
Kale is a superfood and they are using plenty of kale in their recipes, which is fine with me. Mark isn’t so crazy about kale, but he liked this dish pretty well.
The miso sauce was really good on the ribeye steak and the veggies were tasty as well.
It was the perfect opportunity to eat dinner in our new dining room and gaze at the Christmas tree, so that’s what we did. Isn’t that a pretty view?
I can tell you it’s really nice to get all the ingredients for 2 meals shipped to my door and to have it all measured out and all I have to do is chop, prep and cook. That’s pretty wonderful! Blue Apron really is a time saver and I’ve so enjoyed most all the meals I’ve had with them. Some of them will be repeats for us! We also got fresh Fettuccine and Prosciutto in our box and it was really delicious. I’m definitely going to be buying more prosciutto to flavor my pasta recipes.
They do use some unique ingredients that are not in my normal line-up, so it does get you out of your meal cooking rut and that can be a good thing.
