Thrifty Treasures Sunday

Happy Sunday, ya’ll!

Wow, it’s been a whirlwind weekend, spent at a reunion here in Atlanta with some old college friends of yesteryear.  Some of us hadn’t seen each other in about 30 years and it was such a blast to pick up where we left off, catching up on each other’s lives and reminiscing about the past (and doing a whole lot of laughing!).  What a blessing to have friendships like that.   We vowed to not go this long without getting together again and I think we will stick to it.

Susan, longtime friend from Dalton, GA, Chris from FL, and me.  We spent some much needed girl time together and you’ll be seeing these girls again when I go and visit them.

So, on to Thrifty Treasures this week.  I’ve highlighted some of my faves that you found from last weeks party.  Let’s see what you got!

Denise with Pink Postcard scored this coffee table beauty at a thriftstore. It was an outdated brown shade and she jazzed it up with new creamy paint and nailhead trim.  I love this idea!

Erin from Dwell and Tell gets the prize for the ODDEST yardsale find EVER!  This cow pelvis turn art piece made from reclaimed wood, cow pelvis and old couch springs was found for $30 and she had to have it.  So, I might have passed this one up, but not Erin!  She looks at it as a work of art and it is hanging in her house.  Love your creativity, Erin!

Fab Rehab Creations turned a $3.87 Goodwill chair into a pretty stunning standout with some paint and new cushions.  Those dated chairs can be found at most any thriftstore and using your imagination turns them into a masterpiece. Lynda with Focal Point, shares lots of thrifty fashion finds on her blog, like this pretty piece from White House Black Market, one of my fave brands too.  I’ve never bought anything new from this store, but have found a few pieces thrifting myself.

Parsimonia took me back a few years with this hard case Pepto pink luggage set from long ago.  I had a set very similar, but mine was a bright orange, that I’ve long since gotten rid of.  They are probably floating around thriftstores everywhere.   After the handled rolling luggage came around, we just couldn’t stand to carry these old timers anymore, could we?

Dukes and Duchesses picked up some random red and white dish pieces as a thriftstore for a song.  These are so classic and pretty!

Robin’s Nesting Place took some mismatched pieces found at a rummage sale and sitting around her house, as well as freebies and made this outstanding potting bench.  How genius is that?  You will have to go and see how she put this beauty together.

I love The Little Brown House’s cabinet doors turned fancy signs that she found at the Habitat ReStore for just a few bucks.  Way to turn those cast-offs into fun treasures for the home, Sharyl!

Sue from Sullivan and Murphy scored some gorgeous concrete garden accessories at a yardsale.  I love finds like that!

Rental Redux scored this pretty white (not blue) footed bowl for $1!  Love those versatile white dishes and would have bought this too.

There are a TON of parties out there to highlight all your projects, so please let’s keep this one about thrifty finds that were bought 2nd hand!

  1. Add your permalink to the link list, which is the actual post that you did for this party, NOT your general blog url. To get the actual post, after you publish the post, just click on the title and THAT will be your party post url. PLEASE try to get the correct url in the first time! :)
  2. Please add my button to your post or blog OR at least link back to this post in your post. That’s all I ask. It’s common courtesy to link back to the person having the party, so that all of your readers can find it too.
  3. Please do NOT link to an Etsy shop or something similar (even if you think it’s a fabulous deal) or I will delete the link. This party is for sharing thrifty finds from yardsales, thriftstores, or something along those lines. If I see that your post is not really on track with this theme AND you don’t link back, I’ll delete your link. Sorry, but I’d like to keep the party consistent! IF YOU SEE THAT YOUR LINK HAS BEEN DELETED, IT IS PROBABLY BECAUSE IT IS NOT IN LINE WITH THIS PARTY THEME.

wow! Thank Rhoda for featuring my coffee table! 🙂 Pretty exciting. Lots of great stuff featured- love the pink luggage (like everyone else!) and that blue hutch is adorable. Especially in the outdoors! Girlfriend time is so great when you can be with people who love you and you can pick up where you left off. Have a great week!

Thanks for the shout-out, Rhoda! I had a ball finding all of my treasures and I’ll be on the look-out for more on my foray tomorrow. Glad you had such a good time with your old college pals! We connected with old friends over the weekend while at a wedding. It was as if we had never been away from them, even though we haven’t seen them for over 20 years~ We vowed to meet up with each other again soon, much like you did w/your friends. 🙂
