Weight matters BIG TIME in a vacuum cleaner. Did you realize that?
I didn’t realize how much until I compared this new one with my old clunker that I bought a few years ago. It was a name brand, but one of the foot pedal parts broke twice in a year. Not a good thing.

As I mentioned, this Oreck Magnesium weighs only 7 lbs. and that makes a huge difference to me. I have back problems and the other vacuum that I bought a few years ago is SO heavy and clunky compared to this sleek Oreck. This one will be a breeze for me to carry around my new house and I can’t wait to try it out on my new beautiful hardwoods.
It comes with the handle unattached, but that quickly snaps in place and it’s ready to plug in and use.
I’ve been trying it out upstairs in my room and in my bathroom and one of the things I really love about it is the smaller head. It gets in tight places a lot easier than my old upright model did. This vacuum will quickly become a favorite for me and my old one will be retired, I can tell you that.
Also, it lays down flat so you can get under beds, chairs and tables. How cool is that? Smaller profile than most uprights and I love the smaller head that allows you to get closer to furniture and baseboards.
It does have a filter that changes out, but I can say works nicely in sucking power and picking things up off the floor.
Oreck was also very generous and sent me a handheld model too that actually hangs on a shoulder strap to carry around and let me tell you, with all my stairs in my new house, this one will come in handy. I can’t wait to put these powerful machines to good use in my new house, keeping it clean and tidy.
