Here’s an idea for those of us who love seashells and plates. You can see the pretty arrangement of plates in the mirror used with another mirror in the center. Again, this mantel arrangement is simple but effective.

This room has lots of color and I also loved the arrangement on the side table with the two monogramed lamps and large artwork. Looks like a mirrored wall above the fireplace, along with a round mirror leaning with 2 side floral arrangements. 
Another traditional arrangement, this one has 2 large finials and 2 floral arrangements, along with a simple gold mirror.

Love this above room completely! Beautiful mantel with 2 striking sconces, one piece of art that’s hung on the wall and another one leaning. I love the leaning look, but haven’t quite got that mastered yet. Note most of the accessories are large pieces.

Here’s one with a brick fireplace for those of you who have these. It’s neutral, so blends right in with the room and the mantel is stained dark. Very pretty room and the 2 light fixtures mounted right on the mantel is striking too.

I love the asymetrical arrangment on this one, meaning it’s different on both sides. See how the tall finial on the right complements the tall sticks or maybe feathers on the left? And the gothic arch makes a nice statement as the centerpiece. A simple low wooden bowl completes the arrangement for the middle. Lots going on, but it’s not too busy.

Another symetrical look, the above mantel is very striking with the red brick and black surround. If this was my room, I’d paint out that brick a creamy color. Love the frames on those prints and the floral arrangements that flank them. Simple, but very pretty and effective.

Another simple mantel of florals and a large mirror. I especially love this pic for the sofa table, with 2 lamps, large artwork and the plates surrounding it. Love it against the chocolate walls.

Somewhere in all my archives I have that Christmas mantel, with all the swaggy lush greenery, from Southern Accents saved. I may give that one a try this year.
These mantels are all pretty. I don’t have one but have often thought about gettting and old mantel from a home and using it on one of my walls and also a fire screen. Who says you have to have a fireplace with a mantel What do you think?
Thanks for the fun tour of mantels! Our is so rustic in comparison. Natural brick fireplace with a chunk of wood for the mantle. Do you have any examples for decorating one like that?

I have a leaning picture/painting over my den fireplace. It took a good while to get just the right accessories in place, but I do love the look.

I love the different ideas all in one place. I think that is one area that I have the hardest time finding what works. I gave up about a year ago an decided to move on to other things and get back to that when my mind wasn’t so muddled…sadly it still sits undone. These picture give me hope I can finally find the perfect solution. THANKS for posting this. And about that spray can attachment. Mine acutally has a pretty good sized opening…and as of now it doesn’t slip on the can at all. I can even hold the handle and still shake the can. I hope it stays that way. Have a great day!

My 17 year old son (who is like a bull in a china shop at times) broke the blinds that we had on our slider door. I wasn’t too bummed because we had painted the walls about 6 months ago and I never felt that the blinds really matched anymore anyway but hadn’t thought of what I wanted to do. Now I am in a hurry up mode to get some sort of covering for the slider because the sun beats in it in the afternoon. Do you have any suggestions? The slider is in our dining room and leads out to our deck. We go out on the deck a lot.
Would love your advise.

My mantle is always a challenge for me, too. I like some of the ones you posted. Actually, a good friend of mine was a set stylist for Southern Living, so I was looking for her name. But, she has been home for the last year and a half, though.

I love all the mantel ideas, however I am very pleased to see the simple Christmas one, with the silver chalices. I’m planning to very simply decorated home this year since we plan to be away for the entire Christmas and New Year holiday. I want to decorate, so we can enjoy it for the month leading up to leaving though.

Thank you for the mantle inspiration! So many beautiful ideas and styles of rooms. Now I just need to take inventory of what I have and see where I can go with it! Right now mine is an empty canvas and needs desperate attnetion. It would help if I knew what my style is.

I have been looking out for an old mantel surround on ebay (or the side of the road) but not found anything that’s quite right, I’ve now decided I might make a faux one, idea from a blog involving a mirror, candles and a shelf!

The mantels are just amazing! I also love the brown wall, it is so pretty. I have to tell you I made a BIG MISTAKE I painted a hutch I had I used black spray paint. I truly think I should of just brushed it on. It looks just okay but I want it to look great.

I have a huge corner fireplace with the top completely open. I just don’t know how to decorate it. It’s so big it overwhelms anything I put on it. I think it is almost out of scale to the rest of the room – any ideas for me?
