I played guest judge over at One Project Closer’s annual summer Before and After contest and wow, it wasn’t easy looking through all those links to find only ONE to be the winner of the week.  But, I managed to find a really inspiring project that completely pulled me in.  In fact, she is a past Feature Friday of mine.

Supporting Habitat for Humanity

Ms. Dixie Delights, Amanda, who is right here in the Atlanta area, linked up her fabulous basement renovation and let me tell you, it’s a winner for sure.

She and her hubby worked on this space for a whole year and it really turned out amazing.

Before Dixie Delights

Here is the stairwell they started with….

After Dixie Delights

And here’s the beautiful after shots.

After Dixie Delights4

This amazing built-in banquette really caught my eye, along with the fresh yellow and gray fabrics.

After Dixie Delights2

This is definitely not a ho-hum basement anymore.

After Dixie Delights3

And check out the ceiling grid they put in. This post is what game me some great ideas for my drop ceiling and I’ll be checking out the same company they used.

Congrats on your win, Amanda and enjoy!

If YOU have a  project you are proud of, this contest will be running most of the summer.  Just head over to One Project Closer and add your link or email your submission. This is their 5th annual contest!

Isn’t it fun to get so much inspiration from other blogger’s projects?!  I love seeing all the powerful pics out there in blogland.

Rhoda…this basement reno is truly amazing and a real winner! Truly love the beautiful bright colors that were used. It truly does not have a “basement feel”…Magnificent reno!

I love the built in banquette, but I would have also added pull-out drawers for LOTS more storage. Everyone needs more storage, right?
It also has very nice upholstery.

great pics, but isn’t that overkill on the framed artwork?

It’s a basement….it’s supposed to have tons of fun framed pictures. My husband collects autographed items. We have a TON of framed pictures!! It makes a basement fun!

What gorgeous ‘after’ results. I especially love the colors and textures that were used. Now I’m armed with lots of decorating ideas.

Wow, I was sold just with the before and after of the stairwell gallery, I don’t think I could have guessed what lay at the bottom was so cool! Looks like a great place to relax!
