I’ll be the first to say that organizing is not my strong suit. My home is fairly organized, I can mostly find what I’m looking for, but there’s always room for improvement. I tend to procrastinate getting things really organized until it totally drives me crazy. There are so many talented and organized people out there, so I’m sharing some blog friends who have it together way more than I do. Today I’m sharing 16 organizing ideas for your home. I’ve done a couple of organizing projects in my house this year and could stand to do a few more, so hopefully this will inspire us all. I hope these give you all ideas as well on how you can better organize so many areas of your home.
Organizing Ideas for Your Home
- This cute cat door trick is my friend, Sarah’s brainchild, Thrifty Decor Chick. Now her cat has a place for the litter box that’s out of the way and it’s tucked inside a cleaning closet. Out of sight from company. I love this idea!
2. From useless closet to new pantry, this closet makeover from The DIY Mommy is a good one with lots of great tips.
3. We all have left over paint and Rachel from Tea and Forget Me Nots shares all her tips on organizing paint and paint supplies.
4. I just got all my spices organized so if you still need to do that, here’s my post on that organization and how much better they work for me now. This is a great glass bottle set from Amazon with top labels and side labels. My kitchen feels so much better now that I can find what I need.
5. Angie from Postcards from the Ridge has lots of great kitchen organizing ideas all in one post.
6. This cute DIY plastic storage bag dispenser from The DIY Mommy is a really cute idea. Of course, you can buy these, but with scrap wood, she made her own.
7. Julie with My Wee Abode gives a great tip in using an organizing app for your storage bins, especially if you have them spread out over the house or even at another house. Using QR codes, it keeps track of what’s in the bin and where it’s located. A clear tag holder holds the QR code and it can be changed out when needed. Smart idea!
8. We all have those wire shelves and Rosemary with My Home & Travels shares how she covered hers with simple foam core board and contact paper. Looks so much better, doesn’t it?
9. Marty from Marty’s Musings share a small closet and how she used baskets and tags to organize it better.
10. This kitchen counter organizing idea from Laura at Inspiration for Moms is similar to what I do in my own kitchen to house the utensils I use daily, as well as olive oil, salt and pepper. Adding a tray or wooden riser like I did helps to pull it all together.
11. This DIY ribbon hack idea from Heather at Heathered Nest is an inexpensive Ikea gadget that doubles as ribbon storage. Great idea on this one!
12. Another DIY project, Stephanie with Gathered in the Kitchen, came up with a great place to store her plastic bags and foil, plastic wrap etc, using scrap wood on an inside door.
13. Sometimes we need ideas on using a space for double duty and this guestroom combined with craft room from DIY Danielle may give you ideas for your own spaces.
14. Tony with Design Dazzle needed a place to store her tablecloths so she used pants hangers and mounted them inside a closet in her laundry room. Great idea!
15. Add extra pantry storage with inexpensive white bookcases, tucked away in a laundry room or extra closet from Dagmar Bleasdale.
16. Tamara with Citrine Living has organized her linen closet to perfection. Baskets and bottles with labels make it all so pretty and organized to boot.
I hope you got some great ideas from this post to bookmark for your home!
