Hi, all! I thought it would be fun to share my sister’s foyer table with you and what we came up with after Christmas to make it fun and interesting. She was ready for a change, so we pulled out everything we had laying around and put this together. Between the 2 of us, we tweaked it just right and I think it turned out marvelously, if I do say so myself. She’s using some of my accessories for now, until I get a place of my own and we both have plenty of things to use.
We got out all of our choices and starting putting them together and this is what we came up with. I try to follow the old rule of different heights, so that the eye travels up and down.
I love layering accessories and making it all interesting.
We leaned one of my botanicals against the mirror in the background and I love it peeking through.
My iron urn filled with pinecones is a textured opposite of the silver candlesticks and we tried to mix that up too.
The rustic lanterns anchor the right side of the table, along with this branch that my sis had in her stash. I love the texture that just adding this piece brings to the table. The tall lantern is mine and came from Homegoods. The shorter one is my sis’s and she got it from Wuslu in one of their deals of the day.
You can’t go wrong with a real live plant and she is adding more greens to her home. This is a small ficus tree that she pinches back to try to keep it small.
The whole grouping.
The ficus tree adds texture and green, as well as the white ceramic pot that it sits in.
So, that’s our take on a foyer table and mixing it up to make for a pretty entryway. Putting together vignettes is not always easy and I am not an expert, but just keep working with things until I like the way they look.
We’re happy with this foyer table.
How about you? Do you enjoy grouping your accessories and making pretty vignettes and do you have any tips to share??
Very nice! I love the colors and clean look. I love using nature inside too! Great job!
Thanks,
Sarah
Love the vignette especially with the natural elements added in. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely Beautiful!! LOVE IT!
The two of you are quite a decorating team! I like the simple clean look even though there are several pieces in the vignette. I would love it if you would show this beautiful foyer at my “Your Cozy Home Party” Mon. at8 pm EST through Thursday at 10 pm. I’m sure you don’t need my help for views but it would help me and I know others who might possibly be living under a rock and haven’t heard of you would be pleased to see your blog. Come if you are interested and can find the time. —-Shannon
Vignettes are more than attractive they draw me in as if I can see the owner’s history and personality..don’t you think?
Love it – you and your sis are a fab team! That little branch looks like a tumbleweed – great texture. I am constantly moving things around too! So much fun to get a new look.

Very nice… love that lamp and it’s a nice mixture of textures, colors & heights. I have that same white pottery piece!

Pretty vingettes. Like the colors and some many of the items such as the vases and urns.
Nice! Love the total effect. I wouldn’t have thought of layering things, like the candlestick on top of a glass block, or just leaning a picture behind it all. You are right, all the textures and heights make a pleasing whole.
I’m leaning toward the kind of tension you created by mixing glam and rustic, old and new now. The unpotted branch adds a great element of surprise. Beautifully done!
I took another look and I didn’t notice the lanterns they are nice and rustic.
Love all the textures and various elements on the table…A beautiful vignette…
Very classy!
Rhoda, I really enjoyed this post and would like to see more on this subject. I am just not good at this sort of thing. I have a ton of cutesy stuff to work with but don’t know what to do with it. I even bought a bakers rack kind of thing to decorate with my seasonal items. I like to change it out almost monthly, but it is such an exercise in frustration! I drag all the stuff out and then don’t have a clue how to put it together. I think I’ve figured out that part of the problem is I have too many “hard” things and not enough “soft” items. Know what I mean? Hmmm, I think my husband would say my problem is I just have TOO MANY THINGS!
You say you are no expert, but I think you have the knack. In the future I would love for you to give us some tutorials on how to decorate horizontal spaces like mantels, bookcases, etc. I’ve been so “unenthused” with it all that my poor bakers rack is still sporting snowmen when it should be all decked out for Valentines. Oh well, guess I’ll skip that one and look ahead to the St Pat’s day decorating dilema. HA!
Thanks!
It looks great, Rhoda! I love layering mirrors & art work. And that ficus tree is adorable- where the heck do you get one small enough to begin with, that you can keep it pinched back?
Hi Sheila
I got this a couple of years ago at Home Depot. I was actually in there a week or so ago and they’re back again. Maybe they’ll have them where you live too. I’m thinking of getting another one.
Looks fantastic, Rhoda! Love the mix of materials!
Sounds like y’all had fun working together. I enjoy getting to do things with my sister when we get the chance too. It make a me feel like we are still kids!
I love the picture leaning against the mirror. I am going to try a few pictures I have against my mirror to see which looks best. Thanks as always for the inspiration!
This is a beautiful vignette! I love all the elements: especially the lanterns and the tree. Great idea to pinch it back to keep it small. You really ARE good at this, Rhoda. XO, Pinky
