A Touch of Animal Print

I think you’ve all figured out by now (and by seeing my blog background) that I really like animal print…especially leopard…and enjoy using it sprinkled around my home. This seems to go back several years, as I can remember liking it for many years (even in clothes) and it has been in & out of vogue in fashion & decorating for a long time too. It seems to be a classic now and I’m glad! I just love how it goes so well with other fabrics (especially florals) & gives that nice bit of accent to a room. I wouldn’t want a lot of it, but it’s just that little touch that does the trick.

Above are pillows on my livingroom sofa. My mom made the needlepoint pillow for me after I got on a pillow making frenzy a few years ago & decided that I needed a lot of pillows. I collected some needlepoints thrifting & Ebaying & found some fabrics the same way & put together a lot of different pillows. I’ve kept the prettiest of them. The leopard pillow came from a yardsale & seems right at home with the florals & neutrals I have in the LR.
This throw came from Tuesday AM. They have some great sales sometimes & this one was a good one. I found 2 throws during this sale & they are both very pretty. I just loved the texture & pattern on this one & it’s draped over one of my leather chairs in the LR.

Another yardsale leopard pillow on the other side of the LR sofa. You can see a peek of the needlepoint rug on the floor that I found on Ebay. I just love this sofa…it was one of the best things that came out of a short time I had working for Ethan Allen about 3 years. Got it at a deep employee discount right before I left. Working retail is hard work & I only made it for 7 months, but I got a nice sofa out of it, along with bunions on my feet! 🙁 Another yardsale find, this is a zebra print runner that I think came from Pier One. I later found the matching placemats that are on my breakfast table at another yardsale.
This guestbath has the most animal print of any room in the house. I went a little crazy in here & have accessories, towels & rugs in it.
Found this cute little clock at a yardsale for 50 cents. And doesn’t it go great in here? That vase I picked up years ago at Garden Ridge in Atlanta.
Yet another yardsale find, this little candlestick lamp was decoupaged with leopard paper & I already had the shade for it.

Box & the 3 decorative balls all came from yardsales. I added the braided trim to the box. This is an iron shelf in the guestbath.
Right after we moved in here, I painted the white laminate cabinets a deep chocolate brown, called Turret Stairs (by Ralph Lauren). I love how it changed the whole look of this bathroom. I’ve had the rugs (2 of them) for a few years & got them at Kirklands.
Guestroom with some leopard touches on the pillows. I found this fabric at a yardsale (couple of yards) and it’s been great to use around the house. It has a wonderful texture to it.
Covered a yardsale lamp in the guestroom with it and I still have some left.
Wicker chair I’ve had for many years & spray painted black, it works well as a desk chair with another yardsale desk I found & painted. Now it’s in a corner of the den. I found this leopard cushion at a yardsale too.

Don’t be afraid to use little accents of animal print around your house either. It livens things up and is a wonderful compliment to a lot of fabrics. Hope you got some inspiration to bring some into your house too!

Very pretty! I love a touch of leopard too. I recovered an old ottomon in leopard about 8 years ago and still use it everyday. I haven’t been to Garden Ridge in years, that store tires me out (LOL), but I’ll be up that way tomorrow, so maybe I’ll pop in.

You truly have a gift for finding wonderful yardsale items and everything looks beautiful and elegant as always!

I love the button tufted sofa! Mine is button tufted, too. For awhile all you could find was the loose back pillow sofas, and I never felt like my back was supported. We looked for months and finally found mine- its velvet, button tufted, and has a nice curve to the back, I think it has 1930’s glamour!

I had a tapestry chair in that pineapple fabric! I LOVE that fabric and still have the toss pillows in it.

I like the way you have added the animal prints throughout your home. Very classy!

I love the “leopard post”! You use it so well!

I, too, love leopard…I think mine started when my mother wore this great fitted leopard vest and matching purse when I was little. She looked very Audrey Hepburn—so stylish! I always have a few pieces of leopard in my wardrobe, and also around the house. I’m redoing a chair right now by repainting in black paint and adding a leopard cushion. It kind of spices things up, doesn’t it?

Fun post! I’ll miss you while I’m away…

So pretty! I love animal print as well but don’t think I have one piece in my house ~ strange huh?
I think that will be my mission this weekend ~ to purchase one thing with animal print and put it in my bedroom or living room.

    Have a great weekend.

I love your pictures. Your home is lovely. I don’t need any animals prints in my house–I have a real animal (my dog Sophie). Oh, two animals, really. Also my husband.

A touch of animal here and there is fun~ but have you ever seen Christopher Lowell’s show on animal prints?
He tends to be over the top!

You on the other hand, wild thang, have the perfect touch!

You do like animal print and obviously ebay and yard sales. Seems the later are a combination that lots of folks have.

Rhoda…You are so sweet to stop by and check up on me. I’m trying different things as a header and nothing is working. Where does everybody go to get such cute pics on their blog. I don’t know much about computers. Thanks! Hugs, Nicole

You have such an eye for animal prints. I have never tried to use them in my decorating but if I find something at a sale I might get one just to add something different.

I love your animal prints! They really add a touch of drama to a room.

I just saw my Hancock’s add, and I think they have their animal print fabrics on sale this week.

Hmmmm…I might need a bit of the “wild”. LOL

    Beautiful photos!

Oh, what fun! You have opened my eyes to how great animal prints can look when done as beautifully as you have, in your home. Wow! It looks great, and I’ll bet you really had a ball in your guestbath. You take yardsale possibilities to a whole new level. Great post! You always manage to stimulate lots of new creative ideas with your awesome posts. Thanks!!

Ditto, too, re always enjoying hearing from you. I so agree re going into the cities on a week-end. A whole different experience that way! Same thing for me, too, re the country drawing me in. LOL, I even took out my atlas after your last comments on AL, and I finally have Birmingham’s place on the map, firmly planted. So glad you have those beautiful hills! Great soul food. Have a wonderful week-end! 🙂
