{Giveaway is Closed}

The Winner is:  #228, Phyllis!  Congrats, Phyllis, you have been emailed!

So excited to share a new book with you today!

My friend, Ana White, has just published a brand new book, all about handbuilt furniture.  She is a mom and wife from Alaska and a dynamo with power tools.  She started her blog a few years ago which grew out of her love of furniture making. After not being able to afford new furniture for her home, she taught herself how to use her husband’s power tools and began building her own, based on designs from Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, and other stores.  She drew up her own plans and shares them for free on her blog.

ana White

This book, The Handbuilt Home, documents 34 of her simple, stylish, and budget-friendly wood-working projects and you are going to love it!

Handbuilt Home

Designer Furniture for a fraction of the cost? Yes, you can build it!

The Handbuilt Home

Ana flew all the way from Alaska this past summer to join us for the Haven Conference and it was so fun to meet her.  She’s beautiful, adorable, just plain nice and is a tiny little thing, who you can’t imagine using hefty power tools.  But, let me tell you, she knows her way around them now!  She is self-taught and so smart to come up with all the plans she makes and she has made them all available on her blog all these years. It’s no wonder a book publisher came a-calling!

Ana White projects

Ana had no woodworking skills when she got started.  She and her hubby built their first home themselves, board by board, paycheck by paycheck.  When they moved in, they had no money to buy the nice furniture they really wanted and refused to settle for low-cost particle board, so Ana taught herself how to build and made her first project, their bed.  Since that time, Ana has built hundreds of pieces of furniture and now has a huge website, Ana White Homemaker, where she gets over 4 million pageviews a month from homeowners who love what she does and uses her building plans to make their own furniture too.  Ana has inspired so many people to pick up power tools and do it themselves and I just love her story!

Farmhouse table

She’s offering one free project from the book, the farmhouse bench, here at this link from the book.

And if you’d love to get a copy of Ana’s book too, we’re giving ONE away to one of my readers!

All you have to do is leave a comment telling me that you’d love to have the book for yourself.  It’s a beautiful book and I’m so proud for Ana.

Is there a furniture piece that you’d love to be able to make yourself?  Tell me in the comments!

{Giveaway will be open for 1 week and will close at Midnight on Thursday, Nov. 8th.  U.S. residents only please. I wasn’t paid for this giveaway, but did receive a free copy for myself.}

    I am so happy for Ana. I have been following her blog for a few years but not before 2008 when we took our last trip to AK. Wish I had known about her then. I would have loved to see her home and the mother-in-law duplex also. God bless Ana. By the way, I would love to have her first book. My husband and I have been buying tools and learning to woodwork.

    I would love to win this book. I want a table and benches just like this for my screened porch. My parents live with us and use wheelchairs, so they could just roll up to the ends, and the rest of us could use benches.
