Beating the Heat in Seattle

There’s a little secret I didn’t tell y’all ahead of time.  Peter and I have been on a fun vacation this week (thought it best not to broadcast it, you know?).  We were beating the AL heat by taking a few days off in Seattle, Washington.  What a gorgeous place it is!

I had already told a few of my friends that we were headed to the island of Bermuda and that was the plan all the way up to last Sunday, when it was discovered that my hubby forgot to renew his passport, so we weren’t going anywhere out of the country.  Heh-heh, not to worry, we’ll go there later in a few months after renewal, so I get a 2 for 1 deal out of that mishap. 🙂

Last minute, we booked a flight to Seattle and there we were all week, enjoying that absolutely stunning place.  I have LOTS to share and a ton of pics too, but I will be repacking tomorrow for my trip to the ranch in OK to meet Ree and the BlogHer girls too, so I will be just a tad busy for the next few days.

We stayed right on the water in this really cool place, The Edgewater, with a real lodge feel.  Loved it!

We saw the magnificent Mount Rainier, up close and personal, so I have lots of pics to share of that fun day. We were so fortunate to have great weather 3 days in a row, with sunshine and cool temps.

The temps were perfect, we had sunshine and 70+ degree days.  Couldn’t have ordered up more perfect weather for the week.

I ate plenty of good fresh seafood, like Dungeness crab. YUM!

But, will share a bunch MORE as soon as I can! I have LOTS to show and tell. My new camera got a good workout on this trip.

We went to Seatlle in 2004 and went to the Farmer’s Market too and Mount Ranier. Oh it was beautiful. We were there in July and were hiking in snow in some places. I remember thinking it was so pretty that it must be how heaven looks.

I can’t blame you a bit for not telling about your trip ahead of time. I did that once, early in blogging. Haven’t since!LOL

This is our daughter Terrie’s favorite town. She is a big Seahawks fan and has flown out there several times, just for a game! Loves Seattle.

I’m looking forward to hearing about your Seattle trip and your trip to Ree’s.

I’ve been to Seattle twice and I agree, it’s an awesome place! My husband and his family lived in Kent, WA for many years so he feels like a WA man and lives for the Seattle Seahawks:)

Have fun at the ranch with Ree!!!

Lucky you! I fondly remember visits to Seattle with all that fresh Dungeness crab, hiking up Mt. Ranier, and taking in all that Seattle has to offer. ~ Sarah

I hope you can enjoy ALL that the GORGEOUS State of Washington has to offer. I grew up and lived there for over 32 years and miss the scenic beauty of the area.

My parents and sis’s all live in the area still so I usually get back at least once a year to enjoy my home state and ALL it has to offer! My parents live in the foothills just below Mt Rainier and it is always breathtaking no matter how long you have lived there.

I now live in Michigan which were I am is land locked with no mountains or waterage to see! The Public Market is an especially fun place to spend many days/nights people watching.

Looking forward to see more pictures.

Welcome to my city! I wish we had a little of your heat though. I’m waiting for SUMMER!

Be sure to visit Snohomish – north of Seattle. Lots of antique stores and my favourite is Faded Elegance on 1st.

Rhoda! Welcome to Seattle. Didn’t know you were in town! I love your blog; I comment every now and then, but I read every day.
I live in beautiful Mukilteo, just about 20 minutes from Seattle (depending on traffic). Glad you’re enjoying Northwest Beauty. Can’t wait to see the pix through your eyes and new camera lens.

Awesomeness all the way around……going to Seattle (and still getting to go to Bermuda later when he gets his passport–that rocks and cracks me up both) and now going to Pioneer Woman’s ranch.

    Woo-Hoo!!!

It’s super great times for you and I couldn’t be happier for you!!!!!

Thanks so much, too, amidst all this whirwind journeying for leaving a note on my blog. It made my day! You are sooooo sweet!!!!!!!

Oh, Rhoda – You are nearly in my neighborhood. Well, not really! I’m just south in Portland about four hours from where you’ve been enjoyin our beautiful Northwest. I was born and spent my young years in the Seattle area and I can’t ever get enough time there to make me get tired of going back. Glad you’ve had such good weather and could enjoy your vacation there.

Being on the west coast, myself, I must say that it is quite a beautiful place to live out here. Seattle is a great respite, I’m sure, from the heat and humidity of the south. Glad you had a wonderful trip and I’m sure that you’ll remember your trip often!
