Can You Name These Popular DIY Bloggers?

We’re taking a break from Feature Friday today and for a good reason.

Today’s post is going to make you laugh…just wait. It seems that we never know what conversations some of my bloggy DIY gal pals and I will have at any given time and somehow, old pics came up recently and we started sharing. That led to a full blown contest idea and here you have it.

Enjoy!

Let’s take a ride in that DeLorean parked outside and go back in time. Back to a time before there was Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter. Before chevrons, mercury glass and ombré were hot. And most importantly, before there were blogs!

We’re going back to when these DIY gals were worrying about how high they could get their hair, was there food in their braces and oh no…not another zit! Talking on the phone for hours meant stretching that long spiral cord beyond its limits and tying up the only phone in the house. Common purchases for these DIY gals may have been the latest cassette tape, neon bracelets, a swatch watch and a tube of clearasil. You wouldn’t catch them dead in the hardware store, totally unheard of to the max!

Are you there yet? Do you see leg warmers or jelly sandals? You’re getting closer…the time machine has stopped so step out of your DeLorean and behold…the time before blogs:

Do you recognize any of these popular DIY bloggers? I don’t know how “popular” they were back then. Do you think you could recognize them in High School, Middle School or Elementary School? For sure!

These awkward youngsters will one day be the brains behind your favorite DIY blogs. And they are giving a $300 Lowe’s Gift Card to the first person who can guess which faces match with which DIY blogs.

Here are the blogs to match:
  • 320 Sycamore
  • All Things Thrifty
  • Beneath My Heart
  • Decor Chick
  • DIY Showoff
  • Funky Junk Interiors
  • Home Stories A to Z
  • House of Smiths
  • The Idea Room
  • The Inspired Room
  • Infarrantly Creative
  • Just a Girl
  • The Lettered Cottage
  • Makely School for Girls
  • Miss Mustard Seed
  • My Blessed Life
  • The Nester
  • Not Just a Housewife
  • Pretty Handy Girl
  • Remodelaholic
  • Sawdust Girl
  • The Shabby Creek Cottage
  • The Shabby Nest
  • Songbird Blog
  • Southern Hospitality
  • Tatertots and Jello
  • Thrifty Decor Chick
  • Vintage Revivals
  • Young House Love

Here are the details (you must be 18 yrs or older to win):

  • Visit the link below where you will be able to enter your guess for each blogger pictured above. (All information will be kept private.)
  • The first person to correctly match all the faces with their blog will win a $300 Lowe’s gift card!
  • If you win, you will be emailed to collect your mailing address. (Then your prize will be mailed to you.)
  • And of course, you will gain bragging rights for being the biggest DIY Blog Fan Ever! Totally RAD, right?!

Best of luck to you, should you decide to take on the challenge.

I don’t know the other bloggers well enough to even try. But, you are M. What a fun idea.

LOL! I could have sworn M is you. So much for that! This is not going to be a slam dunk for anyone. FUN!

I can tell by the hairdo’s that most of our favorite bloggers are now in their mid-thirties…

You are “E” I am guessing! pretty then, and prettier now!

It’s obvious you’re N!!! You look exactly the same except for the glasses. I also know Traci who also hasn’t changed a bit, but I don’t read the others’ blogs so it’s hard to say. ‘

    Those are some brave bloggers!!!

The only two I knew were Layla and Marion. Before I saw that you were one of the included bloggers, I would have sworn you weren’t even in there. Then I went back and spotted N. The cat eye glasses and the black and white photo suggest a more, well, how shall I put it…..a more mature blogger then some of the others. HA! And then looking close, of course it was cute you!!!

BTW, I’m mature, too. 57 and feeling every year of it!

Haha! Teresa and Kathy! Good eyes, girls, you spotted me. That’s funny, Kathy, that’s the only school pic of me that was black and white, so I’m not sure why it was that year. But, I’m definitely the oldest blogger on the grid. The cat eye glasses definitely spoke to the era too.

Hi, all! Just found out we have a winner of the contest. Someone guessed all 29 correctly! I’ll have a post up soon on how they all match up. This was fun!

N???!! N doesn’t look a thing like you! But, since I’m 52 I should have figured it out simply because of the B&W photo. Is there a winner yet?
