Hey, there friends! I’m kicking off the Christmas season this year with a blog hop with several other talented bloggers. This is the first of 3 blog hops I’m in this year. It’s a great way for y’all to see a lot of beautiful Christmas decor in one spot. All you have to do is click through to the other tours and you’ll be more inspired than ever. It’s always fun to see what everyone does each Christmas, but it can feel a little overwhelming even to us bloggers. There’s a lot of talent out there, but I tend to use most of the same things every year. I don’t go out and buy all new stuff so you’ll see a lot of my treasured collections in this post.
This tour is from Monday through Thursday this week, so the Wednesday and Thursday links will be updated as those tours go live. You can come back here and check them out later since the last two lines of links are for Wednesday and Thursday. Everyone works hard on their Christmas decor, so I hope you’ll come back and visit all of those too!
If you’re stopping by from Remodelando and Cristina’s beautiful Holiday home, welcome!
I’ve been blogging for almost 12 years, so this is in fact my 12th Christmas in blogland. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long, but times sure flies. I have so enjoyed my time online and meeting so many wonderful people and women who are passionate about making their homes beautiful. I tend to do my own thing and don’t worry about what everyone else is doing. I have found it’s better to be true to my own style than to try to follow all the trends, so I’m settled in to a classic, modern Traditional style in my home, with Southern influences since I am definitely a Southern girl.
Our kitchen is not a big kitchen, but it is in the middle of the downstairs and off the smallish kitchen is this little sitting nook, that we’ve dubbed the keeping room. It holds an antique French cabinet that I’ve had for over 20 years and I still love this piece. It’s a great anchor to our kitchen space and is great for storage too. I’ve added some reclaimed wood shelves and iron brackets over it for a place to display my collectibles and at Christmas, it comes alive with color.
My husband, Mark, loves Christmas too and these vintage Santas have been in his collection for many years. They really fit this space and add a lot of Christmas cheer to our house. It’s so nice to light them all up at night and enjoy the ambience.
Back to the shelves, they are great extra storage for serving pieces and I also have plants and collectibles displayed here as well. I love adding open shelves like this in a kitchen area to show off collections and favorite things for the season.
It’s the perfect spot for my red and green collection, such a traditional Christmas look.
Most of these things I’ve had for years, but I did add a couple of new things this year which I’ll be sharing a little later next week. I’m so enjoying those battery powered candles this year and have them all over the house, some with a remote.
Candles add so much during the Christmas season too and their warm glow make a house so happy.
Here’s a look at the kitchen, a small footprint in the shape of a square. Not big, but very functional for just the two of us. I’ve gotten quite used to it now and in January it’s getting a little renovation with new countertop, backsplash, sink and faucet. I can hardly wait for that to happen, it will really lighten and brighten this space up a lot. I don’t do a lot of decorating in here for Christmas, but add cheer to the surrounding areas. You’ll see one Christmas hand towel in there.
You can see a peek of the Christmas tree in the living room and I can’t wait to share that with you. It turned out so pretty this year, it might be my favorite tree ever!
I did add this cute tray with lots of white and silver with candlelight and a tinsel tree to the raised bar. A little faux snow is a quick way to get your Christmas on and add some Holiday cheer.
Another look inside the kitchen. I don’t have a lot of space to decorate in here, so I opt for the surrounding areas for Christmas. I may do more later on when I get the white countertop in, it will make things a lot brighter around here.
Hope you enjoyed this peek at my green and red kitchen this year. It’s always fun to bring out my tried and true collections for the Holidays and it’s been so fun mixing mine and Mark’s styles together. He has a lot of Christmas things too and it makes me happy to use it all together in our new house. Last year, we were just moving in and this year things are so much more settled, so it really feels like home sweet home!
I hope you’ll take the time to stop by the next house on the tour, Southern State of Mind. Heather is also here in Atlanta and has a beautiful home all decked out for Christmas.
And there are plenty more on the tour this week, so don’t miss these other bloggers. Each and every one is sure to inspire you for your Christmas decorating! Hope you’ll go and click on all of them! Just keep in mind that the tours for the last two rows won’t go live until Wednesday and Thursday, but I’ll go back and update all the links as they go live!

This is a great blog. I am disappointed to not be able to see the last row of posts. The links to their tours pages do not seem to be working.
Rhoda says
Hi, Karen, it’s all live for me, the last one linked is A Stroll Thru Life and the links are all working. But those last two lines are Wednesday and Thursday posts and I’ll be updating them as the week goes on, so they aren’t live on the blogs yet.

Thank you Andrea, we will definitely have to get together soon!
Roxanne says
Rhoda, it looks so festive! I love that you treasure your pieces and don’t feel the need to “do new” every year. All of my Christmas decorations have a story to tell and unpacking them is an always joyous, sometimes teary walk down Memory Lane. I’m heading over to Madison, GA this Saturday for the Christmas tour of homes!
Rhoda says
Thank you, Roxanne! I do enjoy all my Christmas things and can’t imagine starting over each year with a new theme. Have a great time at the Madison Christmas tour. We’re doing the Marietta tour this weekend too. It’s always a fun and festive time.
Melanie says
Everything looks great. Will definitely check out the other homes later. I love the big Santa face in the window. Growing up, we had one almost just like that and it was always placed outdoors between the garage doors. Thanks for the suggestion about the Black and Decker hand vac. Those are on sale at Target this week ($25!) and I bought one for myself and another as a gift. I really appreciate that recommendation.
Rhoda says
Hey, Melanie, I’m so glad you got it! We love having one upstairs and one downstairs for little spills and getting up stuff real quick. Great gift idea too! Target is having a great sale today too.
Marty says
I love your kitchen and that great little keeping room. That would be my favorite place to sit and enjoy a great cup of coffee. I especially like your open shelves and your red and green display.
Terri says
Beautiful as always … I still love all the lime green !!! Thank you for sharing again this year !!!
Cristina says
Rhoda, I love your antique French cabinet with all your Christmas pretties above it! Classic decor never goes out of style. Your kitchen is beautiful and can’t wait to see it after those updates you have in mind.
Lisa says
Hi Rhoda, You have everything looking so festive and cozy! I love your keeping room and the traditional red and green. So pretty! I especially love the peppermint cookie jar. Enjoy the season of our Savior’s birth!
Rhoda says
Thank you, Lisa,, both of those cookie jars are Mark’s so he contributed to our red and green kitchen for Christmas.
Lea Guiles says
Rhoda, as always your house is lovely. For some reason your kitchen is always my favorite.
We were devastated by Hurricane Michael, I am hoping the blog hops will get me into the spirit.
Merry Christmas to you and your family and a joyous 2019.
Rhoda says
HI, Lea, I’m so sorry that the panhandle was so impacted by the hurricane. I have heard from friends down there and it just sounds devastating. I’m hoping that help gets there for all of you. Merry Christmas to you!
vicky says
Hi Rhoda,
I really like your wall colors and your house looks so cute for Christmas. Can’t wait to see the new look in your kitchen. Are you taking down the partial wall when you do your new counters. We did and it makes a huge difference. Really opens up the space. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Hope that Mom and Dad are doing well also.
Rhoda says
HI, Vicky, thank you so much. No, we are not doing any demo, just improving the countertops and backsplash.
june says
Love your kitchen…and that antique cabinet is charming. I could find many uses for it. Love all the fun Christmas touches.
Rhoda says
Thank you for stopping by, June!
Lisa says
Hi Rhoda, I love your keeping room. ( We call ours the ‘sitting room’. ) 🙂 Traditional red and green at Christmas makes me smile. And I’ve said this before, but I LOVE that piece of furniture in that room. I don’t remember what you call it, but it’s gorgeous! Would love to see it with the doors open. (hint, hint) You’re house is beautiful. Enjoy the season. Glory to God in the highest, Lisa
Rhoda says
HI, Lisa, thank you so much! I love that antique piece too, it’s French and I call it a cupboard. I think it might have originally been in a kitchen, who knows? Inside is messy and full of extra linens and stuff, so not much to look at. You can tell it’s old though!
