Christmas Open House: Part I

Even though it’s a little early for Christmas, this just might get you in the mood to get out those decorations once again when the time comes. Last week, I went to a Christmas Open House at Silk in Design here in Birmingham and even though I had visited the shop before, it was a whole different look after those ladies got busy and took Christmas to a whole new level.

IMG_6985

I mentioned to the friend I was with that my Christmas decor suddenly felt very inadequate.  I think you’ll enjoy the tour.  IMG_6941

This greeted us at the front door.  Isn’t it stunning?  I can’t imagine how long this took to put together.

IMG_6942

There were Christmas trees galore and all were amazingly decorated. My mouth was hanging open the whole time.IMG_6943

Over the doors, were simulated HUGE mantel displays.  And believe me, around here, there are plenty of mantels this big. IMG_6987

I would love to get this good at making bows and centerpieces.IMG_6944

Red and lime green are still very popular.IMG_6945

Lots of sparklies everywhere.
IMG_6946

Cute, cute!  I could have brought it all home. IMG_6950

I’ve always loved these preserved boxwood wreaths.

IMG_6951

And this faux JOY box was adorable.IMG_6952

Large sparkly bells.IMG_6953

These metal Christmas trees really caught my eye.IMG_6954

As well as these beaded cone trees and the reindeer.  SO pretty!IMG_6955

Here’s the large iron tree again covered with glass hanging balls and it was just amazing.IMG_6956

A whole table of silver and mercury glass was hard to photograph, but I loved it all too.IMG_6957

Oooooh, Ahhhh!IMG_6958

Beautiful natural looking wreath.

IMG_6959

There was SO much to take in. IMG_6960

I loved the colors in this display.IMG_6961

Gorgeous!

I’m actually over in Atlanta this weekend, spending some time with my family and helping my sister do some decorating.  She is really changing out a lot of things in her house and we’ve been doing it by email and phone.  She has managed to get quite a few more pieces from Craigslist and I can’t wait to see all the things she has found.  I’ll be sure to take lots of pics for you to see too.  She’s excited about all the changes and progress.  They just got new granite in their kitchen too and she ended up with the same color I got, Napoli.

Come back tomorrow for Part II.

So inspiring! Aren’t you glad you took pictures to remember it all? I love Christmas, and I really don’t think it’s too early to start thinking about it. By the time it gets here, those who haven’t been planning sooner will probably feel overwhelmed! Looking forward to part 2.

How fun! I love the topiary in the first photo and may have to figure out how to create something similar for myself… but then, it would put the rest of my decor to shame… I’ll have to find a happy medium!
    Thanks for sharing this, Rhoda!

WOW I have been tempted many times to do the purple theme….it catches my eye every year!!! But I am too attached to my stash of Xmas goodies. Maybe someday…

Thanks for the eye candy Rho…it’ll be here before we know it… We actually had snow for about 45 mins this morning, the ground is too warm for it to stick….but it made me sad to think I have to put away all my open toe shoes …depresses me every year UGH !!!

Have a wonderful time with your family, looking forward to seeing what your sister got….it;s so nice you both love to decorate 🙂

    Happy Week-end,
    Kathy 🙂

I can’t wait to see what you do at your sister’s house. I’ve been wading through the pile of stuff here at my house that’s landed here from mom’s….what a mess. Went out and bought china storage containers and other containers for pictures, albums, etc. I can’t even see the floor in my sunroom.

I am so wanting to come up one day soon so we can get together so you better save some time for me!

    Love ya,
    Judy

What wonderful new ideas for Christmas decorating. The stacked apple wreath tree in urn has me thinking about how to use that idea in my decor!! Love the look! Thank you for sharing with us!

Wow, just wow. Boy does your post take me back to my shop keeping days. I’m torn between, Thank God I don’t have to do that any more, and I can do that and I did do that. At this point in life I am just wishing that we would have taken more pictures of the store when we made the transition to Christmas and all the other holidays and that I still had all the youthful energy and enthusiasm of those bygone days.
Maybe closer to Christmas I will do a bow making tutorial. It is all in the ribbon!

I love the inspiration! Early or not, I need to start thinking. I am determined to make my own swags for the mantle this year… I even bought the greenery last year on sale. A first for me ! I am going to bookmark this for the sparkly one. Love it.

    Rhoda,
I am a giant lurker, haven’t left a comment yet, but I just had to today. I LOVE this post. I am so pleased to see that quality silks have not “gone out of style”. I am so inspired to start decorating for Christmas! Thank you for taking time to post all that you do. I am sure there are many like me who check your blog everyday for education and inspiration and don’t comment; but we do appreciate all of your hard work.

    Sandy
