Coffee Table Revamp & Kilz Primer Giveaway

{Giveaway is Closed}

I’ve been helping my friend, Vicki, with a few updates around her house and first up is that coffee table that we found down in Port St. Joe for the sweet price of $22.  I noted that it was a solid wood table and would look great painted creamy white, so Vicki bought it and hauled it home.

It was a perfect candidate for a makeover.  That blah wood was begging for a revamp and Vicki wanted to go in a creamy white cottage direction with this table with potential.

We used the same Kilz Clean Start that I used on the porch walls and gave this table a fresh coat, getting it ready for 2 coats of creamy white. The fine folks at Kilz contacted me awhile ago and offered to send me a gallon of their Clean Start primer, so I of course, said YES!

We got a sample quart of Sherwin Williams Antique White to use as the main color.

After a coat of primer and 1 coat of Antique White, she looks like a new table already.painting and distressing a coffee table

After 2 coats, we were ready to start sanding back the edges for a distressed look. painting and distressing a coffee table

I didn’t have my electric sander with me and we ran out of sandpaper, but managed to get some of it done.  painting and distressing a coffee table

It’s a really cute table now and will be perfect for her family room.  I’ll show you more in there as we get moving along on it.  Not bad for $22 and some paint!

Here’s some fun news too for ONE of you!  Kilz offered to give away to one of my readers, a gallon of Kilz Clean Start of your very own to try out.  What can you do with a gallon of Kilz?  This stuff is great for walls or furniture, so the sky’s the limit.

All you have to do is leave a comment here on this post, telling me just what project you’d like to try out with Kilz Clean Start?

I’ll choose a winner in a few days and you will receive your very own gallon of primer.  You gotta love that!  Thanks, Kilz!

What a great giveaway! I would use this on an antique buffet that I’m needing to refinish. I was wanting to get some Kilz to prime it with!

That table looks awesome!! I love what a little paint can do for a tired piece of furniture. I’d use the primer on two vintage end tables that I picked up at the dump!

I would love to paint our nightstands! I painted a head and foot board I found on Craig’s List last year and never got around to the nightstands so this would be just the nudge I need to get going!

Since I have been under doctor’s orders to not walk or do ANYTHING, due to 5 surgeries in 12 months, I am anxious to get back to painting my junk finds. Hopefully in June I will get the okay to resume life and the first two things I am going to do at the same time is a bench I have that was my mothers and a great oval side table that I got for $10.00. Good luck to me :o) And you to!! I live in New Brunswick in Canada but have a mail box in Maine where we have items shipped to. It is a short drive and allows me to order things in the US that we cannot get here in Canada….love your stuff!

I have a thrift find chair and table I would love to paint in a fun color. I have used kilz before in my daughter’s bathroom. That stuff is great. The walls were dark blue and we went to white using Kilz as the primer. Thanks for a useful giveaway.

I just used up my primer, so this would be great to have on hand. I’ve always got a furniture project lined up 🙂

We’re stripping off the laminate from when we had our cabinets refaced 16 years ago, and now we’ll be painting them . . . like we should have done way back when. It’s quite a project, and there’s certainly lots of primer in our future! Kilz is definitely the way to go. Thanks for the chance to win!

I would redo the ugly old rocking chair in my classroom that another teacher gave to me. It’s got good lines, but it looks hideous right now and I have it down as one of my summer projects.

I have a bedroom with 2 walls painted a rusty red color that I want to change to pale aqua. I know I am going to have to use Kilz on these walls to get coverage. That’s what I would use my gallon for if I won. Thanks.

I have an old (ancient) pine bedroom furniture set that is crying out for a paint-over. I would use the Kilz to block out those pine knot holes that are everywhere! Thanks for the chance to win.

I just scored a pair of dressers that I’m dying to makeover. In their previous life, they were actually standard-issue dorm loft furniture, so while they are amazingly heavy-duty, solid wood and structurally sound, they are dirty, UGLY, and oh-so BLAND! But with paint and fab new hardware, I’ve got grand plans for these as our new nightstands. Thanks for the chance to win!

I have a large cabinet that needs painting. I am converting my small dining room into my craft/sewing room, and this would sure help me head in the right direction. Jackie
