Coffee Table Revamp & Kilz Primer Giveaway

{Giveaway is Closed}

I’ve been helping my friend, Vicki, with a few updates around her house and first up is that coffee table that we found down in Port St. Joe for the sweet price of $22.  I noted that it was a solid wood table and would look great painted creamy white, so Vicki bought it and hauled it home.

It was a perfect candidate for a makeover.  That blah wood was begging for a revamp and Vicki wanted to go in a creamy white cottage direction with this table with potential.

We used the same Kilz Clean Start that I used on the porch walls and gave this table a fresh coat, getting it ready for 2 coats of creamy white. The fine folks at Kilz contacted me awhile ago and offered to send me a gallon of their Clean Start primer, so I of course, said YES!

We got a sample quart of Sherwin Williams Antique White to use as the main color.

After a coat of primer and 1 coat of Antique White, she looks like a new table already.painting and distressing a coffee table

After 2 coats, we were ready to start sanding back the edges for a distressed look. painting and distressing a coffee table

I didn’t have my electric sander with me and we ran out of sandpaper, but managed to get some of it done.  painting and distressing a coffee table

It’s a really cute table now and will be perfect for her family room.  I’ll show you more in there as we get moving along on it.  Not bad for $22 and some paint!

Here’s some fun news too for ONE of you!  Kilz offered to give away to one of my readers, a gallon of Kilz Clean Start of your very own to try out.  What can you do with a gallon of Kilz?  This stuff is great for walls or furniture, so the sky’s the limit.

All you have to do is leave a comment here on this post, telling me just what project you’d like to try out with Kilz Clean Start?

I’ll choose a winner in a few days and you will receive your very own gallon of primer.  You gotta love that!  Thanks, Kilz!

We recently bought a $35 thrift store wood desk for my daughter’s room. It needs to be repainted from it’s current dark green. I’d love to try Kilz primer! I like the coffee table redo!

I have this HUGH armoire (6 feet tall, 6 feet wide!) from about the 30’s, with a dark stain. It sucks the light out of the room, so I’m going to paint it B-M’s Heritage Yellow. And I have a small china cabinet that’s going some kind of blue-aqua-turquoise-something…

The table looks great and exactly like something I’m going to do to the buffet I got at Goodwill yesterday! The primer would come in handy for it.

Love the table! I would love to try out the Kilz on my daughter’s hand me down brown bedroom suite. We’re moving from Sweet Home Alabama to West Virginia soon and it would be a great way to start off her new room!

The table looks great! I think I would just about paint everything in my house white if my husband wouldn’t kill me 🙂 I do tease that if he stands still long enough, he just might get a coat of paint himself!! Anyway, I would love to try the new Kilz Clean Start on my dining room table-it has been used and abused and is need of some “White LOVE”-thanks for the chance to win!

I have a chest of drawers patiently waiting in my garage for a coat of paint! It was super glossy and I have sanded it a bit, but Kilz primer is just what I need to make up for my lazy sanding job!

I am going to paint a king size headboard and footboard which is being made into a daybed for my home office/guestroom. Would like to replicate the coffee table look you did. By the way love looking at your blog and all the wonderful inspiration you give out to me!

Oh, the many projects I could use it for. Perhaps the new serving buffet I just got from craigslist.

I have some kitchen chairs that look too boring. I am planning on painting them this summer.

Our bathroom vanity is calling out for a redo. It is 1970’s dark walnut stain. Two coats of Kilz primer will be a must.
I love your white table. I did that to a 1020’s bedroom suite, that my Auntie left to me. It looks wonderful.
Thanks for all your great ideas.

I have been planning a project of refinishing a dresser I have. It was a hand-me-down from my aunt. Sadly, my little cousin had it before me so it’s covered in Spider Man stickers, so it really needs some loving. I was totally thinking of the white, cottage, distressed look like you guys did with the table – love it!

We have a bathroom vanity that my sister destroyed with some very ugly paint, and I would love to paint it something cheery.

I’m itching to paint my bedroom. Right now there is a faux velvet finish on the walls. I’m over it and need a new fresh start.

My daughter wants to paint her black camp trunk turquoise. Bet a coat of Kilz would cover that black right up!
