Country Living has been very generous with me, sharing their new books and letting me give ONE away to a reader as well. We all love decorating books and this is another one that is beautiful and inspiring. Especially if you happen to like the trend of decorating with white. But, even if you don’t there’s still plenty of color to be found in this book, so don’t let the title fool you. Stark white and nothing else would be a little bit difficult to live with. I love color, but I also love white backgrounds and this book has some great ideas for using white and mixing it all up with patterns and textures to create a lovely home.
The description on the back says:
A room dressed in white may be romantic, rustic, traditional, or contemporary, but it will never be dated. White is simply timeless. Through a wealth of photographs, ideas, and tips, you’ll see how easy it is to bring a white palette into any room to create fresh, comfortable spaces filled with character and warmth.
And again, the book is definitely not all about white, but gives many ideas on layering it all with color and collections.
You’ll get plenty of ideas and inspiration from the beautiful pics on every page.
Blue and white, a fave for many decorators for years.
Collections are another part of the book. I don’t have room in my house for collections this big, but they sure are prettily displayed.
If you enjoy farmhouse style and new country decorating, you’ll love this book and will be excited to have it in your collection.
If you’d like to win a copy of the book, all you have to do is leave a comment, again telling me why you like decorating books and what you’d like to take away from this one.
I’ll choose a winner in a few days!
Christmas in July! Is it too early to think about Christmas? Probably so, it’s really hard to think about it with heat and humidity going on, but here are a couple things to keep in mind WHEN you get ready to start thinking about Christmas this year:
I like to do small vignettes around the house, with bits and pieces of Christmas cheer, like in the window of my kitchen.
Adding Christmas dishes is a fun way to get in the festive mood for welcoming guests to your home. I can’t quite think about it yet, but it will be fun once again when the season arrives.
One of my sponsors, Payless Decor is having a Christmas in July sale this week and I wanted to tell you about it. All of the beautiful blinds in my home came from Payless Decor and I have loved them, they make my windows!
Here’s the code if you want to check out the sale: SH10XMAS713 for 10% off anything over $100. thru 7/25.

I love Country Living. I’m decorating my porch, and I’ve decided to go with white walls and ceilings. I’d love to look at the ideas in that book.

Our house is decorated primarily with white-I always look for Country Living books at the library, but would love to have my own copy.

Thumbing through a gorgeous decorating magazine or book gives me much more confidence to be successful in my home decorating. I love using white in a room. But your use of color strikes a fantastic balance! Thank you for your inspiration.

I love decorating magazine and books. I am addicted….LOVE them. This book looks amazing. I love white and would love to use it more in my home, but I am concerned about my home looking too cold. I collect white ironstone dishes and would love to see some ideas regarding how to collect them and display them in a white (er) home environment.

I love decorating books – I get so many ideas when I read them. Many times, that inspiration from a book will allow me to re-invent something I already own & enjoy it longer when it’s simply used another way.
Country Living books are wonderful – I own a couple & have a few titles saved on my Amazon wishlist. It would be fun to win this one. Thanks for offering the giveaway!

I love decorating magazines and books…. I love to read and re-read them for inspiration. I would particularly enjoy this book for inspiration on using more white/neutrals in my home. I have many bold colors now and would love to make changes, but am concerned that my house may feel too cold. Thanks for this opportunity….I would love to win this book.

I love decorating because my home reflects who I am and who I hope to become. My home welcomes friends, embraces family and provides me with peace. It is a constant of comfort in an ever changing world.

I love decorating books for inspiration and new ideas for decorating our home. I really feel I’m just refining my style in the past couple of years and love seeing beautiful spaces to help with that process!

According to Leonardo Da Vinci, “The first of all single colors is white…. We shall set down white for the representative of light, without which no color can be seen; yellow for the earth; green for water; blue for air; red for fire; and black for total darkness.” Is it any wonder Country Living published a book on it? Would love to add it to my collection! Thank you for the post, Rhoda!

I like decorating books because I like to see if others value the things I do (when it comes to decorating). I have a white kitchen and am looking to change one wall color, would like to see what others have done with their kitchens.

‘m a bit obsessed with interior design and can look at a book on the subject over and over and see new things every time. They’re like old friends who never fail you when you call on them. In fact, if I had to choose between my books and actual home accessories, I’d take the books. I guess I’d just have to figure out how to accessorize my home with design books, literally. 🙂 Country Living is definitely a favorite design resource; they must have super talented editors & stylists as I’m always inspired by the spaces they feature. I’d especially love to have this book, in fact the timing couldn’t be better, because I’m finally taking the leap into white. I’ve always loved it for its freshness and spaciousness as well as its versatility as a neutral backdrop for other colors that can be easily changed out. So I’m going to be switching my sofas out for white ones as soon as I can find the right ones, and I’ve decided to paint the walls of my “new” (1927) bungalow white as well. I’ve already got my eye on white linen duvet covers, and I may paint my kitchen cabinets white. But like you said, decorating with white can be tricky and I don’t want my home to become too sterile (or too “romantic” either). I’m sure Country Living has a lot of tips on avoiding the various pitfalls, so I’d be thrilled to win this book. Even if I don’t win, I can’t wait to see it. Thanks for the chance!

Decorating books are great for getting ideas for my own home.

If I win the decorating book, I will display it on a tabletop and look at it to get decorating ideas. Thanks for the chance to win.

I like decorating books because I am energized by their many ideas–and now that I am recently retired, I have chance to act on that energy. From this book, I would take away ideas of how to integrate more and more white (which I love) into our home while still having it feel like “ours” (which I never want to lose).

This book looks wonderful Rhoda! I would love to win this book! I’ve just recently started a new career as an Interior Design Consultant and this book would be a great addition to my new interior decor and design library of books that I’m beginning to collect! Decorating with white transcends all design and decor styles, the popularity and beauty of it is how it creates such a calming mood and refuge for our homes and family!

I am new to decorating and just found you a few weeks ago, but I subscribed because the work you do is so beautiful and very thrifty too and not TOO hard, like maybe I could do it too! I am interested in the white book because my house has dark eaves which give nice shade, but it is too dark! So I have to use some white paint inside to make it brighter and lighter. Not sure how to do it; that’s why I was looking at all your beadboard posts! (loved the bathroom!) But it looks like the new book on white by Country Living would give me ideas for all around my home. Thanks for all you do! (And what a handy Dad you have too)

Looks like a book to devour! I collect milk glass and white McCoy pottery, thanks to seeing a lot of it in Country Living. Would love to see how they display collections.

Thank you for this chance to have my own copy of this very interesting book. White is and has long been my favorite decorating “color,” but I need help to get a better combination of textures and accents. This book should be a source of inspiration and example for me.
