Country Living: Decorating With White

{Giveaway is Closed}

The winner is Brenda with Simple Pleasures!  Congrats, Brenda, you’ve been emailed!

Country Living has been very generous with me, sharing their new books and letting me give ONE away to a reader as well.  We all love decorating books and this is another one that is beautiful and inspiring.  Especially if you happen to like the trend of decorating with white.  But, even if you don’t there’s still plenty of color to be found in this book, so don’t let the title fool you.  Stark white and nothing else would be a little bit difficult to live with. I love color, but I also love white backgrounds and this book has some great ideas for using white and mixing it all up with patterns and textures to create a lovely home.

Decorating with White

The description on the back says:

A room dressed in white may be romantic, rustic, traditional, or contemporary, but it will never be dated.  White is simply timeless.  Through a wealth of photographs, ideas, and tips, you’ll see how easy it is to bring a white palette into any room to create fresh, comfortable spaces filled with character and warmth.

page 1

And again, the book is definitely not all about white, but gives many ideas on layering it all with color and collections.

Page 2

You’ll get plenty of ideas and inspiration from the beautiful pics on every page.

Page 3

Blue and white, a fave for many decorators for years.

Page 4

Collections are another part of the book.  I don’t have room in my house for collections this big, but they sure are prettily displayed.

Page 5

If you enjoy farmhouse style and new country decorating, you’ll love this book and will be excited to have it in your collection.

If you’d like to win a copy of the book, all you have to do is leave a comment, again telling me why you like decorating books and what you’d like to take away from this one.

I’ll choose a winner in a few days!

Christmas in July!  Is it too early to think about Christmas?  Probably so, it’s really hard to think about it with heat and humidity going on, but here are a couple things to keep in mind WHEN you get ready to start thinking about Christmas this year:

Christmas in the window

I like to do small vignettes around the house, with bits and pieces of Christmas cheer, like in the window of my kitchen.

Adding Christmas dishes is a fun way to get in the festive mood for welcoming guests to your home.  I can’t quite think about it yet, but it will be fun once again when the season arrives.

One of my sponsors,  Payless Decor is having a Christmas in July sale this week and I wanted to tell you about it.  All of the beautiful blinds in my home came from Payless Decor and I have loved them, they make my windows!

Here’s the code if you want to check out the sale:  SH10XMAS713 for 10% off anything over $100. thru 7/25.

Be still my heart! I am totally in love with WHITE…stark white (I actually have someone coming to my house today to paint my kitchen cabinets stark white!). It’s so easy to add a little color with white, and you can change it at any time! Country Living has always been a favorite of mine. So this “country” girl would love to win this fabulous book. It’s one I will buy but of course, winning it from YOU would be even better. And by the way, your white kitchen cabinets are wonderful!. Wish I had an Ikea close by, but no.

What gorgeous photos! If only I could afford a housekeeper – I’d build those shelves in my kitchen and display my Longaberger pottery! Unfortunately, my cats would find the shelves too tempting… The book is beautiful. Just the photos you posted have my mind racing with ideas!

I love decorating books to spark my imagination. As I look around my house I don’t have much white other than the bathroom. I need to expand my decorating to include whitw. This book will ignite that much needed spark. A great giveaway and thank you.

I like decorating book because the are like going on a mini vacation. It can take you somewhere else in a short period of time. I prefer to read a book than watch tv.

Decorating books can lay the groundwork for most anyone on any budget. I go back and look at them many times, always seeing something new each time. Country Living only puts out quality products, this would be great to own. I had a ‘cream on cream’ bedroom years ago—it was my favorite room of all times. thank you for this offer!

I love green and white! I am a huge green fan and nothing goes with it better than crisp white. I love any and all decorating books and magazines …always have. I also have recently become a lover of the farmhouse style. I live in horse country here in NJ and this would be a book I’d certainly enjoy perusing through!

I love white with touches of blue. My home interior is painted whisper white. I’m a CL subscriber and enjoy their great books, too. I have several decorating books that I curl up with for inspiration rain or shine.. I’d love to win this one from CL to help with my master bedroom makeover. Thanks for the great giveaway!

I love looking through decor books and finding inspiration for my home. I love white/neutrals with a splash of color accents so this is a book I would really get in to!

I have white built-in bookcases in the great room and a white kitchen. I could use some inspiration in making the best use of the white features in my home. I also use blue and white throughout!

LOVE all white! Every home I’ve had was based in creamy whites. That way I could trade out color seasonally or when a new trendy color caught my eye. White is so peaceful! Would love this book to add to several other decorating favorites. Even with everything digitized, there’s nothing like a snowy day, hot chocolate and dreamy decore books!
