Delicious Peach Cobbler & Meal Planning Giveaway

This time of year, the peaches are still coming in strong and I have to say, peaches are at the top of my favorite summer fruit list.

Last week, our Whole Foods here in town had a special price of 69 cents a pound on fresh peaches from our peach-growing county, Chilton, so I stocked up on several pounds and decided that a peach cobbler was in order.  My hubby was a happy man.  I haven’t shared a recipe in awhile.  I’m still cooking, just haven’t tried a lot of new recipes lately.

This is my mom’s peach cobbler recipe, straight out of our old church cookbook.

Peach Cobbler

1 stick butter, melted

3 or 4 cups peaches (I used about 6 fresh peaches)

1 c. self-rising flour (I used all purpose & added 1 tsp. baking powder)

1 c. sugar

1 c. milk

Put melted butter in 2 1/2 quart casserole dish.  Pour peaches over margarine.  Combine flour, sugar and milk.  Add to dish and stir slightly.  Bake at 350* until brown and thick.  Mine took about 30-40 minutes to get brown.

It will look a little lumpy when you mix the flour and milk, but it all cooks up nicely.  And looks like this when it comes out of the oven, all golden brown, with syrupy peaches.  I sprinkled on a little raw sugar when it went in the oven too.  That calls for a little Blue Belle vanilla ice cream (or frozen yogurt) on top.

YUM!  It’s SO good.

And as a fun little treat today, we have a meal planning online giveaway going on for ONE of you!!

{GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED}

One of my friends here in town is working with an online meal planning company called E-Mealz.  She gave me a free download to try it out and we are giving away a free 3 month subscription ($15 value) for ONE of you to try too. The best thing is, this service is only $5 per month, so it is very affordable.  Click on over and take a look at it all!  Even Dave Ramsey endorses them.  🙂

You can look at the sample plans to see examples of the menus and one good thing is you can choose the point system, low carb, meals for 2, and several others that are specialized.

If you decide to try it out, enter the code “savemoney” to get an extra 10+% off.  This is a very cost effective meal planning system.

Meal planning is not the easiest thing for me to keep up with, so this is a great way to get yourself organized and plan those meals for the family.

The thing I love about E-Mealz is the fact that you can choose the store you usually shop at and it has recipes and items that are on sale for that week at whatever store you choose to use:  Kroger, Publix, Walmart, Aldi’s, there is a store for everyone.  You then print off the recipes and shopping list and head to your local store for that week’s meals.

Doesn’t that sound like an easy way to stay ahead of the meal planning game?

Just leave a comment telling me if you have a challenge with meal planning like I do?!

I’ll leave this open until Thursday evening and one winner will receive a 3 mos. subscription to E-Mealz for your choice of plans.

I’m adding this to Jen’s Tasty Tuesday.

The winner of the Growing Tomatoes book is lucky #79, Amy A, the VERY last commenter.  See, you never know which # Random.org will chose!  Congrats, Amy!

I love this idea! With a 16 yr old, a 4 yr old, and an 8 week old baby at home, I need all the help I can get lately. This would be a tremendous time saving tool for me.
