How are you sleeping lately?
Sleeping is a really good thing for the body and I am one who appreciates a great night’s sleep, aren’t you? There’s nothing worse than being uncomfortable and tossing and turning at night. I’ve had nights like that, but luckily they are fewer and fewer these days. I can honestly say now after sleeping on a memory foam bed for a few months, that I really do love the feel of memory foam. So when Essentia contacted me about using and reviewing one of their memory foam pillows, I said, sure let’s give it a shot.
I chose the Ergonomic pillow to try out, since I’m a side sleeper for the most part and this one is designed for back or side sleepers. These pillows give the ultimate neck support and that seems to be a good thing too. I was used to a down/feather pillow, which sort of squishes down and takes on your head shape. I have always like a feather pillow because they can move and form to the way you hold the pillow, but they can be big too and get in the way.
When I got in the Ergonomic, it is smallish compared to my big fat feather pillow, but I immediately liked the way it conformed to my neck and head, with my head resting in the groove that makes it a bit of a different shape. And I suppose that is what makes it comfortable. I do like the way that memory foam sort of sinks in and just helps you relax, the same way a memory foam bed does with your body. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about memory foam, but after sleeping on the mattress for a few months and now using the memory foam pillow, I’m pretty sold on the whole concept.
So, how does Essentia differ from other memory foam products?
- They make the only natural memory foam mattresses in the world (like Tempur-Pedic, but natural)
- Made in Canada, but you can find stores in the US too
- Natural foam = breathable
- Seen on Dr. Oz, Rachel Ray, and Anderson Cooper (www.myessentia.com/media)
- All other memory foams are made from petroleum based chemicals
You can check out all the pillows at Essentia.

I have no idea what kind of pillow I am using. I recently swapped it with the one on our guest bed after discovering my neck pain that had lasted for 3 months was caused by my pillow!!! Guess I am a slow learner on that one. But the old flat pillow I use now seems to be fine….just wonder what a memory foam pillow might do.

I sleep on a cheap, generic, mostly terrible pillow. I’m always telling myself that I’m going to invest in a good pillow, but it hasn’t happened yet.

I sleep on a really old down pillow stacked on top of another pillow, so I could use an upgrade.

I have tried so many pillows and am about to lose hope of finding one for comfort as a side sleeper. Maybe this one will work since you mention that you are a side sleeper too! Thanks for sharing about Essentia, Rhoda, as I have never heard of them.

I have an ergonomic pillow and I love it.

I am sleeping on a cheap feather pillow that contains small quills that work their way through the case and poke me from time to time. I need this pillow!
