Fall at the Botanical Gardens

So, did you notice my cool new blog design? I was lucky enough to win a giveaway over at The Shabbee Chick’s blog, I now have my very own blog makeover. Amber did a great job and was very patient with all my little changes and I just love the new look! Head on over for your own blog makeover, if you’re looking for a sassy new style.

We’ve got some beautiful fall color going on right now that I had to share with you. These 3 pics are all in my neighborhood showing our beautiful and colorful hills.

It doesn’t totally capture the majesty, but you get the idea. I know many of you have probably already lost your leaves, but we are still in full fall color mode around here and our hills look like a painted canvas.

Recently, a friend and I went to an event at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, called Antiques in the Garden. It turned out that the antiques part was fun to look at, but WAY too pricey for my blood, so we decided to take a stroll through the gardens to see how it looks for Fall. And might I say, it looks beautiful.

I should have taken a picture of one of the pair of Staffordshire dogs that I saw for sale (darn it!). There was one black and white pair that looked so much like the pair I scored at the estate sale for $6…and the pricetag was $3,900, yes you read that right. Now that’s unbelievable! Of course, I’m sure there is a reason for the price difference, but it sure doesn’t matter to me. I’m just going by the looks of them.

Pumpkins were plentiful at the gardens.

This lily pond was so tranquil.
And this dragonfly was posing so sweetly for me.

I was surprised the rose garden was still blooming prolifically. I didn’t think they keep blooming this far into Fall.

A lovely arbor.
Lush ferns and groundcovers in the shady areas. I can always get so much inspiration from coming here.

Even the bark of this tree is pretty.
A quiet and peaceful pond is tucked away.
Lantern hanging on a stone post.
Sweet little cherub.

Entrance to the Southern Living garden.
All the summer plants are still looking so pretty.
Impatiens and sweet potato vine.
A pretty fountain with water trickling down.
And another pretty fountain.

Hope you enjoyed strolling through the gardens with us!
Thank you all so much for the great comments on the guestroom redo. I get the feeling you really like it. 🙂 It was so much fun to do and I really enjoyed sharing it with all of you.
Please check out a new to me site called, Decor Medley! I was recently contacted by Giorgina to do an interview for her site, so please click over there and take a look. Be sure to browse around this very informative decorating blog and read the other interviews (I’m in fine company!), as well as the fun design topics she has featured. It was fun to do, thank you Giorgina!
Also, there’s a giveaway here at Blessed Mama’s, for all sorts of goodies in her Etsy shop! Check it out.

I was in B’ham Monday and Tuesday. It was beautiful! Even the drive up wa colorful. We drove out 280 going away from the Summit looking for another connector to 65…got a little lost, but found the most delightful little winding road full of such beauty. Got back on 280…finally, and went over to 65 on 119, I think. Anyway, that was also a beautiful drive. Gorgeous houses.

Love the new blog look…very classy!

The first thing I noticed was the new design, and I loved it. Of course, I always love what you do with your blog, but this has a cute, fresh look. AND I love all of your botanical shots. I particularly loved the dragon fly on the lily pad. A fun post for your new look.

    XO,

    Sheila

Everything is so beautiful there. It is all dead and brown here in Colorado now – we need snow to cover up the dirt. Have a great week. Sally

$3900 for those Staffordshire dogs still has me gasping and I’ll bet they’re not one bit prettier than those in your new guestroom. Your blog looks so pretty…great colors. You take wonderful photos…loved them all. 😉 Bo
