Fall Dining

We recently  had a small group from church over for a buffet dinner, so I set the table and took some evening pics by candlelight.  You’ll notice some pics are with the table set and some are without, since I took these at different times.

I used the pretty brown and white transferware, perfect for this time of  year and since we were eating buffet style, I didn’t set a completely formal table.  There were 8 of us, so 2 couples sat in the dining room and 2 in the kitchen.  My diningroom is just not quite big enough for 8. Six I can squeeze in, but not 8. creamware shelves

The white collection and my tureens.

I really enjoy my white dishes.sideboard with mirror

I decided to find some candles for the candleholders and create some evening ambience and it works like a charm everytime.IMG_7162

I used some pretty paper napkins that are very Fall-ish.IMG_7163

Got out my mercury glass votives I found last year on sale and some sweet-smelling candles and the table was ready.

Nothing like candlelight to make for a special evening.  I think I need to do this more often.

Thanks for stopping by! Just in case you think this room is spacious from these pics, let me assure you it is tiny, at barely 10 x 13′.  So, I hope this gives you some ideas if you have a small dining room too. :)

And, since I don’t set that many tables, I’m joining for the first time, Susan’s Tablescape Thursday.

If you missed how this diningroom change came about (from red to Antique White), go here for the first “after’ pics and there are links on that post to how it looked in red.  This room was red back in the spring and I tossed around lightening it up and am SO happy I did.   There were some major changes, including me adding the picture frame moldings.  Lots more pics and details on those links.  And if you’d like to see more on those monogrammed burlap lamp shades, click on over here for the complete DIY project.  Yep, this room has undergone some major changes in the last year.

    Hi Rhoda,
Wow….gorgeous tablescape! I LOVE your brown and white transferware…and it’s just perfect in your beautiful dining room! I know the couples must have felt very pampered and special with such a lovely table setting. I just love candlelight…find myself lighting candles even during the day. 🙂 You have such a wonderful “white dish” collection…I see several pieces that I am seriously coveting. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your beautiful tablescape and your elegant dining room…enjoyed both!

    Hi Rhoda,
I was so pleased to see that you were setting a table in a post this week. Then I read further (I subscribe via e-mail) and saw that you were participating in Tablescape Thursday. Welcome and congratulations on such an impressive “debut!”

Your dining room may not be huge, but it’s beautiful. I love your earthy colors, the vintage lighted china cabinet, and all those wonderful ironstone dishes.

Hope you have a Happy Halloween and a great weekend in general. Also hope you’ll be back with more tablescapes!

    Regards,
    Bill @ Affordable Accoutrements

    Good Morning Rhoda!

Your dining room is gorgeous – what a treat for your lucky guests to dine in – now if only I could be sitting there, visiting YOU and drinking it all in person! Some day… some day!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend …

Your home is so beautiful! I love the wall shelves.
Now that we live in a very small apartment I’ll be looking for the type you have your dishes on.
What store did you purchase them from?
