Fashion over 50: Black Tie Dress

I mentioned to y’all that Mark and I went to a fun Marietta Square Gala the weekend before my birthday.  It was Black Tie which meant I needed a long dress.  I have a few ankle length black dresses, but decided to shop online and see what I could find.  I ordered 2 dresses from Macy’s and one of them I fell in love with and kept.  I felt so good in it and it will be a dress that I can wear for many years to come for any Black Tie event that we may go to.

A little black dress is always good to have in the closet!

I love the feel and fabric of this dress.  The brand is Alex Evenings.  It was on sale for $120 when I ordered it at the end of November, but now I see it’s been marked down even further and you can get it for $84, using Macy’s coupon codes, just in case you need a little black dress.

I love the ruching in the bustline and waistline, very flattering.  It’s lined and has a slit above the knee which doesn’t open too high. Believe it or not, I wore stockings with this dress!  I don’t always, but with the closed toed shoes I had on, it really was nice to wear nude stockings.  I do not wear hose with open toed shoes, however, although I see older women doing that, it’s not a look I think is flattering.  In the summer, I opt for no hose.

These shoes I found a year ago at TJ Maxx, so can’t link those.

The dress hits me just a couple of inches from the ground so I don’t have to worry about it dragging.

I loved the silver bling neckline with jewels all around the top and back as well. I didn’t get a real good close up, but it’s large rhinestones set on the straps.

I added this faux fur leopard collar jacket I found at the Atlanta mart last year and it’s the perfect little black dress jacket.

Here’s a look at my makeup.  I used a sort of copper color on my eyes and the lipstick is that favorite Boots stick that I love, called Statement. Earrings I’ve had for a long time.

I took pics outside before it got dark and before we left, we took a couple of pics by the tree, Mark, my handsome guy and me. We had such a great time that night, such a fun birthday celebration.  It’s not often I get dressed up this much so it was very fun to do.

The little dog that lives at my house, Cody, loves Mark and wanted to get in on the picture too, so here’s a funny outtake picture.  Cody is my roommate, Rhonda’s dog and he adores Mark.

That’s a look at Fashion over 50 and the Black Tie event.  Thank you as always for stopping by this week!
