Fashion over 50: Fall Sweaters and Boots

Hey, friends, can it really be November 1st? Where did the year go?  I can’t believe the Holidays and Christmas are just around the corner, it sure gets here faster and faster every year.

I’m back with another Fashion over 50!  Atlanta has finally felt the clutches of Winter around the corner and we had some wintery cold weather over the weekend.  It just happened to fall on Sunday last weekend when we had another local Acworth home tour on the schedule.  We knew we’d be outside for a couple of hours and so layering was definitely in order to keep ourselves toasty warm. I didn’t mind getting out the sweater and boots, it’s kind of fun to do that for the first time each season.

I’ve got a fun trip that I’m leaving for tomorrow, to the beach at Panama City, FL for a brand event. I’ll be sharing lots of fun stuff when I return, so I think it will be things you’ll be interested in.

I got this sweater at Nordstrom a couple of seasons ago and it’s been a good one. A heathered shade of rusty red, it works so well for the Fall cooler season.

I paired it with these black damask leggings from Hue, also past season and sadly they are not available anymore, but I love these too. They are stretchy and work great with boots and I love the texture too, sort of velvety damask.  I linked a couple of other Hue leggings below that you might be interested in. I’ve found these leggings to be thick and really cover well.  They are more pant like than just thick stretchy tights and I really like that too.  Some have pockets sewn in and totally give the look of pants.

Again, I only wear these with tops that cover my bottom, I just do not like to see leggings without a long top covering up the posterior!  It’s one of my pet peeves on any age of women.

It was really cold the day I wore this out and I wore a long wool coat with gloves over this as well, so I was toasty warm.  My Ralph Lauren black leather boots have served me well for a few years now.  I’ve linked a couple of similar Ralph boots below.

This infinity scarf I think I picked up at TJ Maxx. It has great Fall colors for this time of year.

This sweater is one of my good colors and I wish I could link it, but I bought it a couple of seasons ago. The rusty red color is good with my skin tone.  Have you noticed that burgundy is all over this year? It’s a very hot color and if you can wear it, it pairs well with black and brown, so you might want to check out these finds below and see if anything catches your eye.

Sweaters and leggings go great with boots and I will be wearing mine this year, mixing them all up.  Affiliate links shared below!

As always you look pretty. I’m with you concerning wearing a long top to hide your bottom over leggings. However, I feel that way for any age. I don’t understand why it became okay to walk around with your butt showing, with what is basically thick-tights. I know others might disagree but it’s my opinion.

Nice outfit! I agree with you concerning a long top over leggings. We were recently in a restaurant where the hostess had on leggings and a short jacket. She was in her late 60’s and looked ridiculous! She was very small but looked like she didn’t finish getting dressed. I think long tops are in order with leggings no matter what the age. Love your scarf!

Rhoda, that is an adorable outfit on you! The scarf and the tunic go so well together. Oh yes, we need to cover the lady bits. We shop at an organic market next to LA Fitness…please, ladies, cover up. Happy November!

Love the colors! I love rich deep colors when one has lighter color of hair. I have silvery gray hair and I love the darker richer colors near my face. Enjoying the pics!

I absolutely love the color of your sweater! It’s a good color for me too. Your Fashion Over 50 looks so good by the front door of your new house.

Great looking ensemble, Rhoda! I love the HUE brand. I have several pairs of leggings and pants by them and they’re sturdy, fit quite nicely, stay where they’re supposed to and do not slide down or ride up.
