We are in countdown mode now with Christmas just around the corner! It seems that when December finally arrives, it flies by in the blink of an eye and the year is nearly over. It’s so hard to believe that 2017 went by so fast, but time just seems to keep ticking more quickly every year. Does it feel that way to you too?
We had one of the most exciting events last week in Atlanta. Something that only happens every few decades for sure and that was a BIG snowfall. The weathermen predicted snow all right. Only their idea for how much snow was coming was way, way off. I did see that one of our weather guys issued an explanation and apology for not seeing this one coming. It was so much more snow than anyone ever anticipated and took us all by surprise. We got at least 10 inches in our area and maybe even a little more than that. The drifts on our back deck were huge.
It was a beautiful surprise for sure and we all loved seeing it come down and enjoyed the snow in Atlanta in December, something that hardly EVER happens. I can’t remember this much snow ever since I was a little girl. It was beautiful to see! I was so happy to see Mark get home on Friday night and off the roads. Now he’s off until after Christmas, so we are going to enjoy the next few days.
I took lots of pics from inside with my phone, so I’ll share them with you. Neither of us felt like playing in the snow, so we just watched it from inside our cozy house.
The woods and trees in the back of our property were so gorgeous with that heavy snow blanketing every branch in the woods and anything that was flat.
It snowed more on Friday night and then the sun started coming out on Saturday and that blue sky was gorgeous against the snow. We have birch trees near our deck and they were all bowed down, but once the snow melted, they popped up again.
Our street was a beautiful blanket of white and it was so pretty to look at.
Even though we didn’t have a lot of ice this time, it made for some messy roads, so we stayed in most of the weekend and didn’t attempt getting out.
Inside a warm house is where I like to stay when it’s like this. We had several family members who lost power and we lost ours overnight on Friday night, but got it back early Saturday morning, so it wasn’t bad.
Mark’s daughter, Traci lost their power on Saturday night, so they came over to spend the night with us. We couldn’t have that baby staying in the cold and it was so fun to get to hold her. She’s growing so much, I’ll have to share more pics again soon.
So, on to Fashion over 50 today. We stayed in all weekend but decided to go get steaks on Sunday afternoon at Longhorn. I’ve been wearing lots of faux fur lately and this weather certainly called for it, so I got out my long white faux fur vest to wear.
I’ve shared this one before and have had it a couple of years. It goes great with cream sweaters and black pants and boots.
I bought this locally so can’t find a source that exactly like this one, but I found a few similar ones linked below.
I wore those Hue black damask leggings that I can’t source either and my Ralph Lauren boots. I love adding scarves to outfits like this as it dresses them up and adds some texture and color. This scarf is black and white on one side and has lots of colors on the other.
The vest is toasty warm and make a nice layering piece for a winter outfit. I love winter white this time of year.
That’s it for this week’s fashion over 50! Thank you as always for stopping by to visit me and I hope you all are enjoying this beautiful season of the year. We have a few festivities coming up and spending time with family and friends and I really look forward to that.
Here are a few things that are similar to what I’m wearing in case you might be interested (affiliate links):
This outfit is so pretty for winter!! I love winter white…it just seems to perk up our faces this time of year. 🙂
This is one of my favorite outfits you’ve shown. Love the vest – and I love all the snow you got! We are used to it in NJ but it was so fun to see the excitement all over social media this past weekend. Enjoy your day!

Your pictures are gorgeous of the snow. Whenever one of these rare snowfalls arrive, it makes everything so quiet and peaceful. And you have the perfect Snow Bunny outfit. Love the vest! I’m starting to make really good progress with my August broken arm and leg, took one look at the snow, and decided Nope, I will enjoy from indoors!!
Hey, Roxanne, I’m so glad you are getting better from your breaks. I know that had to be hard.
Love your furry, long vest & the snows pics! You look like you are feeling soooo much better ! Great outfit & you look amazing in your outfit! We got 4 inches in Mississippi. My daughter got some great snow pics that have been featured in Mississippi Magazine on Instagram & the local news channel. That is her hobby. 🙂
Hey, Bonnie, that is so neat! This weather thing was surely the big news in the South over the weekend. Amazing how far South it went!
Cute outfit! The snow is so pretty when you don’t have to get out in it.
Love the vest and the boots! Could you tell me where you found your outdoor mat please? I love it!
HI, Talia, bought it from Frontgate. They have some nice oversized front door mats.
Sorry, Rhoda……told you wrong…..It is Only in Mississippi Instagram page .
LOVE the vest! So great!
You got more snow than we did here in Pennsylvania! Beautiful against those blue skies!
Snow here in Mississippi too, 6 inches in our area! And the snowfall in central MS was predicted to fall south of my area by our local stations. So what a nice surprise to wake up and see God’s handiwork and watch the beautiful snow falling. This was one of the prettiest snows I can remember (not that we get it often in Mississippi).
Love the white vest with the black leggings and boots!
What pretty snow pictures! Best part of the snow is the scenery! – The long white furry vest looks so good on your tall frame! Perfect for you! (some of us would look like the abominable snowman came to visit! ha!).
You look warm and toasty in that great winter white outfit!!!! Love the pics of your backyard! We got some snow here in Houston on Thursday, but not nearly as much as you… and it was gone by the afternoon! The kids had a good time playing in it while it lasted!
Beautiful snowy pictures Rhoda. You’d better keep those pictures as your neighborhood may never look quite that wintry again….or at least for a long time. Love your white furry best too. So cute. Thanks for an always great blog!
Winter wonderland and you look smashing! Snow Queen!
Love your pretty vest Rhoda! The snowfall looks magical. I think you got way more than we did in NC. Enjoy!
So happy you got snowed in! I love to be snowed in! Everything is quiet, so peaceful and beautiful. This busy time of year it’s perfect to get snow and slow things down a bit. You look so pretty – smiling in that cute vest!
This is the best outfit yet! The scarf gives it just the right amount of color! I too am blonde and I look to pull in bright colors to my black and white/ivory outfits.
