Fashion over 50: Summer Dress

It’s Wednesday, so you know what that means, Fashion over 50.  I’ve shared this dress last year, so of course it’s not available online anymore, but summer dresses are cool this time of year and I do like to wear dresses when it gets really hot out like July is right now.  We had milder temps during June, but the heat is kicking up now and we are feeling the Summer heat of the South.

I do see that my pea gravel area is in dire need of weeding, but haven’t had time to get to it.  Just in case you noticed!  I have a few things on my plate right now, but yard work isn’t one of them.

So, this maxi dress is by Emma & Michelle, but again it’s last year’s dress and probably can’t be found online right now.  It’s been a nice casual summer dress for me.

Those sandals I’ve really enjoyed too, from Guess, but they aren’t available this year either.

That’s the thing about clothing and shoes, once they are out of stock, you usually can’t find them again.

Jewelry is my old standby turquoise pieces that you’ve seen before.  And that’s it for this week.  Again, I’m not doing much dressing up these days, but did go out to lunch one day with a friend and wore this one.

Our Haven Conference is this week and today I’ll be heading to Buckhead for a few days at the Grand Hyatt and we are so excited to have our conference beginning again. We’ve been planning for months and it’s so exciting to see everyone arriving on Thursday and kicking off the conference.  We know that it will be another wonderful year and of course, I’ll share pics of it again this year! Busy time for me, but so much fun stuff going on.  I’ll do an update on Dad tomorrow and his birthday celebration!

You really do have a lot going on & I know the Haven Show will be a great one for bloggers again this year. Once that is over, you will have more time to be a “Bride”, work on your new house & most importantly watch your Dad improve. Enjoyed your Fashion Over 50 again today! You do such a good job with your blog and I enjoy reading it every day.

Congratulations on your engagement!! For an easy way to get rid of weeds, just pour on a box of rock salt.

do you put the rock salt on straight from the pkg or is there some boiling hot water involved ??

      thank you

Oh I like that tip, will definitely try it. Straight from the box?

Yes, you can pour it straight from the box but sparingly; let time and rain do the work. Or mix up a solution in water and spray the weeds. Keep in mind that this is going to permanently affect the soil in the area you use it and render it unfit to grow anything for many years to come.

I love dresses that are casual in this heat too. I have skinny cropped cuffed jeans on today but have started to wear my dresses more. We are under an extreme heat wave threat until Friday. Love your dress & have fun at Haven! Glad your Dad is on the mend and responding so well now. 🙂

    Love your outfit!

I so wish that I could go to Haven this year but we are still unpacking boxes! Almost to the end of that though and the fun decorating has begun. Y’all have a wonderful time!

I agree with you, Rhoda. Loose dresses are so much cooler in the summer than shorts or pants. Dresses are definitely my preferred summer attire.

Hope your dad is getting stronger and can go home soon.
I think about him and his garden every day. 🙂 (while I’m pulling weeds in mine)ha

I found your site on pinterest. Thank you for writing about fashion over 50! I am 61 & slim but have not had the courage to wear sleeveless in years. I think I’ll do it now.
