Fashion over 50: Sweater Dresses

Hey friends!  Thank you all so much for stopping by and taking the time to comment on my 11 year blogiversary post.  It means so much to me that you all are still here, reading along and following my journey.  I really do love what I get to do and so enjoy sharing with you all!  I read every single comment and you all warmed my heart so much.

Today’s Fashion over 50 is a repeat.  I’ve had this sweater dress for a few years, but I think it’s worth repeating.  I love sweater dresses during the Winter months, they are so versatile and look great with boots and accessories, like scarves and jewlery.  Scarves are my favorite piece to accessorize with during these cold months. They not only keep your neck warm, they also really look good when you’re all bundled up and trying to stay warm.

We’ve definitely needed more layers this cold Winter as the temps have dropped so many days.  Boots and tights are my fave this time of year and are so comfy to wear to stay warm and keep legs toasty.

I think I probably got this sweater dress at TJ Maxx at one point, but I really don’t remember, it’s been over 5 years.  This scarf has been so versatile and goes well with grays and blacks, which I have a lot of in my wardrobe.  I have a scarf tying tutorial over there on my left sidebar if you’ve never seen it, showing my favorite way to tie a scarf.

Add simple jewelry and that’s about all I do to get ready to go.

I can take the cold when the sun is out, but those windy rainy cold days are the ones that make me want to stay in and hunker down.  But with a cozy sweater dress and boots on, it makes for a nice outfit to go out in, with a coat over the top for the cold weather.

That’s it for today, all of this is old stuff, so I can’t link any of it, but hopefully you get some ideas for yourself on these Fashion over 50’s.  These are the things I like to wear and hope you enjoy them. I got a couple of dresses/tunics that I’ll be sharing soon too so you’ll get more ideas.  I have started looking for shorter dresses which work so great with boots and tights this time of year.  I’ll have more to share later, have a great week!

I did find a few sweater dresses below that I thought would be darling with boots and leggings/tights, with a few scarves added in too, affliate links below.  The sales are good right now, so it’s a good time to find a few things.

Love it! You look fabulous in the sweater dress.

I bought one last year on a clearance rack for next to nothing and it’s so pretty. Problem is, I haven’t had a need for it on a cold day. It will happen though and the fact that you’ve had yours 5 years reminds me to hang on to it. 🙂

I haven’t bought many sweater dresses in the last couple of years but definitely love them. Stein Mart petites didn’t get any in I don’t think. I got one regular material there in petites , one in Boutique there that was xs that was Max Edition, and a very cute one at Ann Taylor petite department. I do love sweaters & sweater dressing when it is this cold out. You look great in your dress with boots! I love the addition of the scarf too. 🙂

While you look quite fashionable and pert – THIS body will never see another sweater dress in this life time. Just because something comes in a larger size doesn’t mean it needs to be worn on the larger body! LOL! 🙂 I need the mu-mu look for the mature frame. I’ve got more rolls than Sister Schubert.

Hey, Becky, you made me laugh out loud! I know, these type outfits have to be looked at with a discerning eye and that’s where we all have to know what works and what doesn’t on our body types. Thanks for the chuckle!

You look adorable in this outfit but at 63, I definitely do not wear anything above the knee whether it’s with tights or not! Lol Yikes! You’re the only one I know who can pull that off. 😁

Hey Rhoda, lovely as always! I was wondering if you ever tried Dress Barn? It has surprisingly good stuff there for teen girls right through ‘elderly’ women, and sizes 2-24. My two daughters (teen and young adult) and I shop there and we all find things we like. The prices are amazing, too, as they often have coupons or things go on sale. Just wondering your opinion as I was in yesterday and saw several cute sweater dresses. 🙂

Hi, Kate, I’ve been in there before, but can’t say they’ve been on my radar for really great fashion, but it’s been years since I have actually been in a Dress Barn, so maybe it’s changed some. Sounds like you are finding some good things!

You look beautiful as always Rhoda, this is my favorite type of outfit for the winter, I wear sweater dresses, leggings, scarves and boots all the time to work, so comfy. This is a cozy and great look, and I am 36!!

Hi,Rhoda, you look fabulous in that sweater dress. I like when you bring out “something old” and style with different accessories. Most of us have to do this out of necessity.

Thank you, Sue, you are so right. I don’t get new clothes all the time either, so I have lots in my closet that is 5 years old and more, still going strong!

I love sweater dresses. I have one on today with a scarf and tights. I just switched out the tall boots for a pair of short booties. Have a great day Rhoda😀

Thank you, Glenda, I didn’t take any of these comments as negative at all, I think they’ve all been postive ones.
