Before we get to Fashion over 50 today, I have some VERY exciting news! Â On Monday, at 9:30 in the a.m. we had a new arrival in our family. Â Baby Iris was born!! Â It was the fastest delivery I’ve ever heard of and they barely made it to the hospital in time. Â Less than 30 minutes after arrival, she was here! Â Needless to say, my sister didn’t make it down there in time, so they drove down and got there that evening. Â None of the family in town made it, it was so fast! Â We are glad that Lauren didn’t have to labor long at all to bring this little precious into the world! Â She was due at the end of this month, but we had a feeling she wouldn’t go that long.
Lauren and Iris are doing great! Â She’s named after our mama, her great grandmother, and she couldn’t have a better namesake as this woman.
We think she is a doll and were eagerly awaiting pictures. Â She has some similarities to her big sister, Parker, but not completely. Â She has a headful of black hair which you can’t see here.
The whole family of 4 enjoying the new baby girl in the family. They got a video of Parker meeting Iris for the first time and it was so sweet. Â Needless to say, we are all over the moon over this new baby girl in the family. Â Mom and I are going to go down in about 3 weeks to see her and can’t wait for that. Â Y’all will get to see another baby growing up in the family!
Back to my regular post…..
The weather has been magnificent here in Atlanta for the last week or so. Â We had plenty of rain for awhile, but now spring is bringing sunshine and flowers and we are all loving that. My dad has been working in his garden, getting his veggies planted, so I’ll share him later on. Â He lives for this time of year and gardening season.
For Fashion over 50 this week, I’m sharing different ways I wear white jeans. Â I love white jeans and really put them to use during the hot summer months. They are so versatile to mix up with so many things and you can dress them up or down.
Glamour Farms sent me a couple more things to style and I love, love this turquoise top, the Arabel Lattice Top (affiliate link) in Jade.  Use Code Rhoda3 for $10 off at Glamour Farms!
I’m wearing a Small in this. The ruffles give it a feminine look and the length is just right for jeans. Â It has a bit of cotton trim detail on it as well, which adds some interest. And of course, I love turquoise anything and this is one of my best colors, so I play up the blues.
Looks great with my skinny jeans from Target.  I bought these a few years ago, but here’s a similar pair from Target Mossimo (affiliate link).  I have 3 pair of white jeans (and one winter white cord) now and they are all a little different, but all versatile.
I added some of my turquoise jewelry along with a little bit of coral red for some punch. Â These shoes are Lucky Brand and are leopard skin. Â I always love a little bit of leopard in my wardrobe.
Similar Lucky Brand (affiliate link) Emmie flats from Shoe Buy. These are the stretchy flats and mine are not.  Mine are called the Letah, but seem to be sold out online. I got mine at Belk on clearance.
Here’s another similar leopard flat from Franco Sarto (affiliate link).
Another outfit I wore with white jeans is this top that I picked up in January at the mart. Â It was one of those sample sale bargains and I love the colors of coral and white. Â It’s longer in the back than the front and is a perfect top for a casual outing. Â Unfortunately I can’t find this online anywhere, but the brand is Felicite.
Jeans are Kut from the Kloth Diana skinnies (affiliate link)
Last year, I shared this online site with  you, when I picked up this pretty long lightweight coral sweater from Thredup (affiliate link). It’s an online consignment store and they have some pretty things for much less than retail. You can read the descriptions and see if it’s something you’d like and the condition of each item.  The sweater is by Eileen Fisher and I love the color.  It’s a great layering piece.
These shoes are by Franco Sarto and I got them a year ago at TJ Maxx. Â I’ve really enjoyed these neutral tan leather wedges to wear with lots of summer things.
Here is a cute pair of tan heeled sandals from Franco Sarto (affiliate link).
Another sweater that I picked up from Thredup (affiliate link) last year is this pretty green from Alberto Makali.  It’s a pretty high end brand, but nearly new on Thredup.
I wore it with my Kut from the Kloth skinny cords and a cream flowy top and loved how it came together. Â I can’t find the skinny cords online anymore, probably because they are out of season. Â I’ve enjoyed these this year too and they are a nice Winter White.
I added jewelry that I picked up from the Mart in January for just the right color. Â The sweater has a built in scarf like edging that gives it a really pretty touch. Â I decided to wear it with neutral creamy white to let it shine.
That’s it for Fashion over 50 today! Hope you are still enjoying and getting some ideas on your wardrobe too. I love to mix and match what I have in my closet to come up with fresh looks, adding a few pieces here and there.

Great inspiration, as always! You look so pretty in the coral color. I keep saying, “What did we ever do without white skinnies?”
Rebeca Savela says
I love white jeans and how you incorporated wonderful “pops” of colour using your beautiful accessories! Welcome Spring! 😉
Lorraine says
Congratulations on your beautful new niece. I love white jeans. I only wear them in the Spring and Summer. I didn’t get on the trend of year round. It makes them more special to only wear them now.
Brenda says
So so pretty. I love the light weight sweaters, I am “cold natured” and can wear sweaters or long sleeves most of the year and this type sweater is just the thing. Love the colors too!! All though I am shorter and have to be careful of the length of the tops I wear, but your inspiration is always great!! Thank you so much, I always look forward to your post everyday and especially on Wednesdays.

Congratulations on the arrival of beautiful baby Iris!!! What a blessing to your family. Love your fashion posts Rhoda but hearing the news about Iris and telling us that your daddy is starting his gardens has me really looking forward to your upcoming family posts!

We are getting to the point here in TN where it’s too warm for layers and long sleeves or sweaters. We’ve hit the 80’s this past week. I like the look of skinny white jeans but for warmer weather I have skinny white cotton pants – and a bit shorter (cropped) than your jeans.
Congrats on the new baby girl! She looks like her daddy. I bet Parker is over the moon!
Roxanne says
Congratulations on your newest family member! Lauren looks fantastic. I love my white jeans, they are practically my spring and summer uniform. I really enjoy pairing them with brightly colored tops. Rhoda, you look marvelous as always! ?
Here is a fashion dilemma for which I’d appreciate anyone’s opinion…my sister gave me a beautiful, flowy turquoise and bronze summer top. With would color pants would you pair it? Also, should I stick with a straight leg to balance the flowing top? I’m 5’8″.
Rhoda says
HI, Roxanne, I think you could wear your turquoise and bronze top with white jeans too. I think that would be a great summer look, with nude sandals and some golden toned jewelry. Since you’re tall like me, straight or skinny legs tend to look nice with flowy tops.
Roxanne says
Thanks, Rhoda!

Look forward to watching baby Iris grow up, as we have with Parker! Congrats to all! Thanks for the tips on white jeans. Dress code at work is business casual. I think I can pull that off with the white jeans and right top!

Congratulation! A beautiful baby and a beautiful family!

First Baby Iris is precious and so is her big sister
I went shopping yesterday for white jeans and didn’t find any so will look this weekend when I go into St Louis shooping, I think I’ll get 3 pair and wear them all summer with different tops and accessories

What a special time in life. Iris is so sweet. What does Parker think about her new baby sister? Oh, and I like Lauren’s new short hair style.
I must get to the city and buy some white jeans. Are the Kut jeans thick or the thin almost see through material?
Roxanne says
Hi Joanna! I just read your comment. I’ve had really good look with Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda white jeans. I get them at Kohls, and with all their coupons the jeans are quite inexpensive. They are great quality and are NOT see through! Available online and instore. I normally wear a 10 and that 10 fits perfectly. Hope this helps. Blessings, Roxanne
Deb says
Agree with Roxanne on GV Amada white jeans. I have several pairs that I got at Belks or Kohls (always on sale!) and they wear great and aren’t too heavy for Summer but not see through. True to size. I’ve lost 67 lbs in the last year and a half and went from a size 18 to a 10 with GVs the whole time since they have a nice stretch.
Rhoda, I always enjoy your fashion posts even though I’m short and still a little on the heavier side. White jeans, a tshirt and light weight cardigan are my uniform for Spring/Summer at work. I like the way you’ve paired the jeans with bright colors and a neutral shoe.
Rhoda says
Joanna, the Kut from the Kloth jeans are thick and not see through.
Joanna says
Thank you for your input Roxanne, Deb and Rhoda. Now
I have a starting point.
Cindy says
Are cords ok for year round wear? I have some cord jackets with jewel tones and one with pastels as well as a few knee length skirts.
Rhoda says
Cindy, cords are too hot for my climate in summer, but it depends where you live, I think.
Marie says
oh my Goodness this caught me completely by surprise as I did not know you had another little niece or nephew coming along. She is just so adorable I’m so happy for you all. That is one beautiful looking family. I love in Ireland and my babies are all grown up but they were born in America and when I opened this post and saw this beautiful baby all wrapped up in the that cute blue and white striped hospital blanket it just took me right back to when my first daughter was born as we have different coloured blankets here. Silly little note but it really caught me and sparked some lovely memories. Congratulations to you all. Beautiful Family. Now I must go back over the post and look at the fashions you’re sporting. They look fab on you as I flew down here to comment first on the exciting news. Best wishes. Marie
Marie says
Hi again Rhoda, I’ll keep it short this time I promise. Love the coral blouse and cardi set but seriously love the green cardigan with the built in scarf with the creamy whites. Love your hair straightened too it really suits you.

Becky says
I love the white. My question is about what undergarments should be worn under white jeans/pants. I’ve heard white, beige (skin color) or a neutral thong. I also notice that you wear tops that cover your behind, so maybe it’s not a huge concern. If you don’t mind sharing, what do you wear, Rhoda?
Rhoda says
Becky, if my top covers my backside, I don’t worry about it, but if not I do wear nude underwear or a long lined panty with no panty lines. Most of my tops cover the backside now. Also, all white jeans are different, so just look and see which ones are a little see through. Some of mine you can’t see through at all.
Cheryl Ann says
Congratulations on your new little family member Rhoda. Lauren looks amazing…cute family! I love white jeans too.,.much better than white pants that show every “little extra” thing. I even feel thinner in white jeans! Thanks for the ideas… Many blessings to all…

Congratulations on Baby Iris’ arrival! She is absolutely precious. I love the look of white jeans on you. I have tried on white jeans and they don’t seem to look very good on me…but I like the look on others.
