Fashion Over 50: Black and White

I think I’ve mentioned a few (hundred) times how much I love black and white combos.  In clothing and in my house, black and white is such a classic and I have plenty of it in my wardrobe.

Today, it’s more of the jeans….white and blue denim, can’t help it, that’s what I seem to wear a lot.  I’ve shared tops from Covered Perfectly (affiliate link) with you before and I have a new one to share today. These tops are made from micro modal fabric, drape well and feel very good on.  And they are a little longer in length too, making them great for older women (like me!).

By the way, I get a Small in these tops.

This Covered Perfectly cold shouldered top is fun and playful and I’ve enjoyed it in my closet.  Great with jeans, either white or denim blue.

With simple gold jewelry, it’s casual and easy.  Those shoes I’ve shared before too, black wedge fabric shoes from White Mountain (affiliate link).

Gold jewelry sets off black very nicely.

The newest Covered Perfectly top (affiliate link) I have in black and white is very comfortable and flattering for most women.  I love the white piping and it looks great with white jeans.

These jeans are the ones I shared recently from Kut from the Kloth (Diana) (affiliate link).

Again, I wore my gold jewelry and those shoes also have a little gold detail on them.

Can’t go wrong with black and white!

I’ve got a new watch to share with you too.  Have you ever seen a wooden watch?  I hadn’t either, but Jord, the wooden watch company contacted me and asked if I wanted to try one of their watches.  Well, twist my arm, of course I would!  Since I wear so much turquoise, I chose the Cora watch, with a beautiful zebra wood band and a colorful turquoise face.  These watches are definitely fashion pieces and really make a statement.  With all the turquoise colors I wear, this will be a fun one to have around.  You can check out their website for lots of different styles and wood colors offered by Jord. With different combos of natural woods and watch faces, it’s fun to look at the variety.  They are not costume jewelry priced, but start at $120 and up.  One of these would be a great special occasion gift. These watches also require winding, the old school way.

Watches Made From 100% Natural Wood by JORD

I’ll work on putting together some summer outfits to share soon.  I’ll be traveling again soon and will pull out some of my summer separates to wear.

Love that cold shouldered top which I have nicknamed the peek-a-boo sleeve in my closet. I have lime green trimmed up in white. That style is just so fun for us – my favorite sleeve! Love the other look too. You look great in both outfits and always love to see what you are wearing on your fashion posts! Off to look at the petite dress you posted the link to….thanks!

Gorgeous! Love both of those tops. So…when we get to Haven, since you won’t be busy or anything…;), will you come to my room and style me each morning?? 😉

I really like the cold shoulder top—really it’s quite perfect for any older ladies who feels uncomfortable showing the “jiggly” underarms, yet it is cooler, stylish & you can still wear your bra without it showing! Thanks for sharing! jodie

Forget “Fashion Over 50”! I’m 31 and I’d wear every bit of it! Rhoda, you’ve got great taste. I always look forward to your fashion posts.

I love the ‘jiggly arms’ comment from “Jodie”… mine aren’t all the way jiggly but they have that ‘puckered’ over 60 look which is not too enviable. Last summer my husband and I were leaving for a church picnic, and I was wearing a cap-sleeve top. My husband raised one eyebrow and said “so you’re wearing that shirt?” That was a broad hint.; no more sleeveless shirts for me. Great style, Rhoda.

What I like most about your fashions are that they are age appropriate and look good too.

I loved all the fashion in this post, but what really wowed me was the softer pinkish lipstick and new hair with the soft bang. I’ve always though a bang would look great on you and sometimes dark lipstick is just too harsh. You looked wonderful before, but now you look radiant.

Rhoda, you always look amazing…on pictures or in person! I just ordered 3 micromodal (Beechwood) tops from Covered Perfectly, thanks to your inspiration. FYI, they have free shipping both ways and offer Buy 2 Get 1 Free, or a 20% discount with code FNF20. Now I just need help in weeding out my less than fashionable clothes from my closet. :/
    Love you and your blog!
