Fashion over 50: Black Lace and Velvet Holiday Top

Are you all getting ready for Thanksgiving? We are excited to spend time with our families tomorrow and I hope you are doing the same. We all have so much to be thankful for, don’t we?! Lauren and her family are home and we are so happy to have them back.

Today on Fashion over 50, I’m excited to share a new top from one of my sweet fashion friends, Cyndi Spivey. If you’re not following her, you need to be. She’s in her early 50’s and has a great fashion style sense and she just got a couple of new tops designed with Gibson. I’m thrilled to share one of them with you today and happy for her collaboration!

This black velvet and lace blouse is perfect for the upcoming Holiday season. The velvet is super soft and the lace has a bit of shimmer to it, perfect for a party top paired with a fancy skirt or black jeans like I’m wearing. I tried the half tuck with this top and I think I finally got it right. I’ve done this fashion trend before but never felt like it looked that good but with a belt and slightly tucked in the front, it’s a cute look.

The back has a keyhole closure with a button. So cute and festive. I paired the outfit with my new leopard shoes and love them. I can’t say they are broken in and comfortable yet, but I’m hoping they will get better, because I sure do love them! I’m wearing a Small in both of these.

The jeans are past season White House Black Market flare leg jeans.

Here’s the blouse at home in front of my mirror out so you can see the shape of it. It can definitely be worn out too and is very cute, skims over the tummy.

I also got the chance to try one of Gibson’s brand new sweaters and got this soft cozy mock neck gray sweater. I’ve already worn it and it is super cozy.

It is slightly longer in the back, very casual and can be half tucked too but I like it out as well. The sleeves are slightly Dolman sleeves, not huge, but extra roomy. I’ve heard differing opinions on Gibson clothing and the quality, but I can say the pieces I have are very well made.

Earrings from Just Christi on Etsy. She sent me several pair of these pretty leather earrings and I love them, so check her out.

Here are both tops I’m wearing and the shoes, affiliate links included!

And Gibson has cardigans buy one get one free right now, so if you’re in the market check them out here.

When I first saw you in that black lace top, I was like “oh, so pretty! She should wear that with a leopard print skirt” Then I continued to read your post and BAM, you are wearing it with the leopard print shoes(😍😍😍), which is an even better choice than a skirt. That sweater looks adorable and soft! Beautiful as always!

Wowza! You look gorgeous in that black top and jeans. Darn, its sold out! Oh well, I guess I did not need it.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving back in GA. I know that you enjoy having all of that good food, and being with those precious little girls.

like the clothes you showed in this post. That velvet and lace top is very attractive.
thanks also for referring to the ‘half tuck’. I wasn’t aware that was a fashion statement. I had watched one blogger’s postings & wondered if she didn’t realize she only had the front of her shirt tucked in. I believe you got the ‘look’ better than others I have seen

Thank you, I’ve tried it before and didn’t like it, but it seemed to work with this top.

Love the top, just not with jeans. I do think it looks good with the animal print accents. That’s a really nice grey sweater too! I read that that half tuck is also called a French tuck. Don’t ask me why. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Time to get out the stretchy pants.

HI, Nancy, thank you, I’m wearing a strapless but a black bra would also work I think.
