Fashion over 50: Casual Pants & Tops

If you haven’t figured out how I share these fashion posts, it’s really whatever I’m putting on from week to week that I end up sharing here with y’all.  Many days I don’t get dressed up that much, so when I do, I take pics and here you go….Fashion over 50!  I usually am going out on the weekends, from dates, to getting together with girlfriends to family activities.  My summer clothes rotate between casual jeans and pants and all the different tops I have in my closet, so it’s fun to mix things up and use different tops and jackets together that I haven’t done before.

casual print jeans

This casual outfit was for an outdoor concert date I went to, so being comfortable is key with these events. We were sitting outside in beach chairs, enjoying the weather and music, so I was comfortable and casual in this outfit.  These are print jeans (DKNY from TJ Maxx)  that I’ve showed before, pared with my flat cowhide shoes.

Again, these are Dolce Vita (affiliate link). I’ve totally enjoyed these shoes! They are sneakers, but cute sneakers.

casual print jeans 2

The top is a flowy long sleeved longer top and the sleeves are rolled up with tabs. I added a camisole underneath that I have had forever. I got that top in Louisiana at a shop.

white top with camisole

The jewelry with this outfit is mother of pearl pieces that I’ve had awhile.

This top from H & M (affiliate link) has a similar feel. I do like H & M clothing.

mother of pearl jewelry

I’ll try to remember to show you my jewelry in a pic like this, so you can see the details. I love mother of pearl and it goes with so many things, so I tend to wear this set a lot.  They all came from different places. The necklace was from a yardsale, the earrings from a shop in Nashville, and the bracelet from Destin, FL.  So, that’s how to mix it all up!   Love my jewelry!

white jeans

On another weekend outing, I wore my Target skinny jeans, the jacket that I’ve showed before from C Wonder and that casual pink top is also from  C Wonder. I’m still pulling out pieces from that shopping trip now that summer is here.

white jeans blue jacket

The top is hot pink and short sleeves and I thought it mixed well with the blue and white polka dotted jacket.  Again, I rolled back the sleeves to let that pretty fabric show on the cuff detail.

I’m enjoying these tan leather shoes from TJ Maxx a lot. They will be worn a lot this summer with pants and jeans.

blue jacket pink top

This jacket has gold buttons, so I went all gold with my accessories.  You’ve seen these bracelets before from my friend, Lakeitha’s shop, but I’ll mention it again, Wrist Soiree.  She has some pretty and inexpensive things and I’ve enjoyed the heck out of this gold bling.   The necklaces are the set I linked to earlier too, an Etsy shop, Tied Up Memories here in Atlanta.

jewelry

All from Tied Up Memories.

gold jewelry

Bracelets from Wrist Soiree and earrings from Saks Off Fifth at the outlet.

Thank you all for continuing to like the fashion posts! They are turning out to be my most clicked on posts every single week, so thank you for that.  I’ll continue to do them as long as there is interest and I’ll try to mix it up with some of my friends too.  It’s sometimes hard to coordinate all of that, but I will sure try to get Vicki back too with more fashion ideas.

As you can see, I do love the jewelry and I feel that jewelry is the best accessory out there to finish off an outfit.  It’s just like accessorizing a room.  No wonder I like the more is better philosophy in rooms and jewelry…smile!

I especially like your fashion posts ( I am almost 70!). You have a natural talent for style and I am style challenged. I’ve also never been a great shopper and now, with a visual impairment, I mostly shop online. The accessories are another challenge for me. I’m usually running late and some jewelry is so difficult with the clasps, etc. that I don’t seem to have time to mess with it. Therefore, I like to stick to simple, easy pieces that can go with almost anything. That being said, what is your clever, convenient way to store your jewelry so that you don’t have to spend a lot of time searching for what you need when you’re getting dressed to go out?

HI, Pam I got a really neat jewelry case last year and it has really saved my collection of jewelry. I have a lot and this keeps it all organized and within easy reach when I’m getting dressed. It hangs on the wall in my closet and has a mirror on front. There’s a link to it in the post (from Wayfair).

Wow, Rhoda! You really do have a lot of jewelry! I certainly wouldn’t need a cabinet that large but I do like how organized everything is. I will have to look for a much smaller version. I appreciate your response and link. You are always an inspiration.

Love that jewelry, Rhoda and you look so pretty in each outfit! I love the hot pink and white jean with polka dotted blue jacket together on you! I love color and think we need it after 50 so I am always trying to remember that one. Petites come in alot of neutrals sometimes so you have to add color with jewelry or scarves (which I don’t like to do, ha! ) or jazz it up someway. Love your new shoes too, thanks for sharing!

You look great, as always! I’m very curious…what is that toile curtain in your bedroom doorway behind you on the stairs?? Do you curtain off your room so you don’t have to always close the door?

Kate, those are stenciled drapes in my bedroom that I did, an Ikat stencil. You are seeing the single window in my bedroom.

Love your sense of fashion! It’s my kind of style. I’m not much of a jewelry girl, though. I love it, but I just don’t buy it. But you are an inspiration!

Packed too many of my clothes, will not unpack until they are in the new house. Probably months getting to those boxes.

Wore a gray longsleeve exercise tshirt with lavendar blue skirt, form fitting to the knee. NEVER, would have done this unless crises of moving.

At jobsite had put on broad brim straw hat with leather tie under my chin for sun/wind. Met client’s husband. He looked at me and said, “You look dangerous.”

Of course I thanked him. He was right. And, they want me to install the garden I had just designed for them. Dangerous, indeed.

When I don’t see clients it’s normally speed walk at stone mtn, administrative errands, in the office, and nowadays packing too. Wear mismatched exercise clothes. Very mismatched.

    Love these looks you show….

I do stop in those places here and there, so I could definitely pick up a few things this year. I just can’t bring any more decor things in my house, so I’ve had to STOP that part!

Wow! You look so much better with color near your face most people do though. You have to be a true winter to pull off white near the face. You’re a beautiful woman so enhance your beauty.

Yes, I agree, all white is not nearly as flattering as color, but sometimes I like a white top. When I get a little color in the summer, white looks much better with a tan!

I am 60 years but since now 60 is the new 50…..I just love your Wednesday post, look forward to it. You can put together an outfit better than anyone I have ever see. As we get older it is easy to get in a lump but all I have to do is look over some of you post and automatically feel better. I went out and bought myself a pair of white pants a couple of weeks ago, something I have never worn before. Thank you so much for your help!

    Rhoda,
I too remember your post about the jewelry organizer. Does all your jewelry fit into the organizer? I was wondering about your bracelets. Love your styling!

Yes, it all fits. It’s crammed, but it fits. I added a few more little hooks in there in some of the empty spots to hold more bracelets and smaller things.
