Fashion Over 50: More Booties

So today, I’m back with more fashion and sharing the spring sweater I got from Chico’s recently.  I wore it 2 different ways, so see what you think.  I love having pieces that I can mix up and change them out for different looks.

fashion cropped pants sweater

This coral and cream Chico’s sweater looks good with my Banana Republic cropped pants and I wore them with gold metallic wedges with bows.  I got these a couple years ago from TJ Maxx.  In fact, many of my shoes have come from TJ Maxx, I have found so many great deals there.

I wore some of my coral and turquoise jewelry to add a contrasting color. Coral and turquoise looks great together!

Now, my next fashion idea might make you laugh, but I couldn’t resist these booties!  You’ll either love them or hate them, I imagine!  I saw them on someone and just fell in love with them. You know how much I love leopard print and these just called my name, so I hunted them down online and bought a pair.  And they were a splurge, probably the most I’ve paid for a pair of shoes ever…not counting boots.

matisse leopard booties

These are by Matisse and there are 2 versions, called Nugent and Teddy.  I couldn’t find the Nugent ones anywhere online, but found the Teddy at DWS online (affiliate link) and ordered them in my regular size, 8 1/2. They fit very well and are actually comfortable.  I will mostly wear these with jeans, but they really are fun and funky!  Sometimes a splurge is fun and these were it for me.  They are wedges and about 2 inches high, so not bad to walk in.

I mixed them with my Rock and Republic Jeans (affiliate link) and the Chico’s coral sweater.

So, if you are a little daring and want to show your personality, go with some leopard print.  I love a little leopard and animal print in my wardrobe and in my home decorating.  It’s just a fun way to let your personality shine.  Folks will definitely notice these booties!  I did get compliments on them.

Love that scarf, Miss Rhoda — really adds the perfect finishing touch! And don’t apologize for those booties — they are adorable! I even clicked through to see if they had them in my size, but alas, no. Just as well, since I really prefer a heel to a wedge.

    Keep the fashion posts coming!!

I love both outfits, but my fave would be with the white pants and necklace. Maybe because I’m so ready for spring.

I often buy shoes at TJ Maxx as well. I have my eye on a pair of boots similar to yours but they are Washouga by OTBT. They are a muted gray and I think they will go with lots of outfits. I am trying to use more scarves and jewelry to change up my spring outfits as well.

Spring has really sprung around here and our temps are already too warm for sweaters. I am warm natured anyway, so boots, sweaters, etc. have been put away. I have on a lightweight knit cardigan today. We are supposed to get a few cold days this weekend, then back to the warm, springy temps!!! I am ready for sandals and flipflops!! For spring, I prefer your first outfit.

Beautiful scarf Rhoda! I would not have thought to put it with that sweater, but it looks so good together. So vibrant. You do have a great sense of style. Kathy

I always check out the shoes when I’m in TJ Maxx, and have found a lot of great deals. The metallic ones are cute and look great with your outfit. I love the turquoise necklace with the coral sweater. You’re rocking those booties, but I would not like them for me. More great looks, Rhoda!!

    Rhoda,

Cute outfit as always and the booties look cute on you but they’re not me. I’m more of a conservative classic type dresser. But I admire the fact that you look so cute in trendy designs and it really works for you. I do have a question though. I noticed you wore white cropped pants and being from the south I hesitate to wear white before Memorial Day. I guess that rule doesn’t apply anymore? I so want to wear my white ankle pants but don’t want to be ostracized by people my age saying “doesn’t she know you don’t wear white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day”. How do you or any of your other readers feel about white before Memorial Day? It’s hard to let go of old southern rules sometimes!

Hey, Barbara, I totally think that “no white before Memorial Day” rule is out the door. There’s plenty of winter white out there during winter months and as warm as it gets here in Atlanta by April, bring on the white pants. I’ve got white jeans that I’ll be wearing soon, so throw the notion out the door and wear your white if you want to.

Barbara, I think that rule applied for both North AND South. It’s just that it never gets warm enough up North to even consider white before Memorial Day! I could do white jeans and love winter white, but am still uncertain about white shoes.

    Hi Barbara!
I love the coral color on you! Great shade. I also love the white pants. I have some looks for white jeans I hope to put together soon. Those booties are fabulous! It is finally getting a bit warmer here in Charlotte.
I would like to invite you to join in on my fashion link up, if you are interested. There are many women who share their fashion posts, and it is fun to see what others are putting together as well.

It is called Turning Heads Tuesday, people post on Tuesday, but can link up their post through the week

Coral is such a great colour on you. It brightens your face. Those boots are a real statement. I love leopard but not sure I would have the confidence to wear them.

Love those booties! I have had some leopard calf hair ones from Sam Edelman that I’ve had for 2 years and love them, wear them almost like a neutral. I get a lot of complements on them every time I wear them. Just ordered some leopard print sandals for summer wear as a matter of fact.
