I’m back today with a few of my friends along for the fashion ride. Â I have some very fashionable friends, so I enjoy showing them off as well. Â I’ve been blessed with some great friends, both married and single and I am so grateful for all of them. Â Luckily, they don’t mind posing for my camera.
Girlfriends help us along on our journey and it’s nice to have single friends who are in the same Single Boat with me. Â Makes life much more fun, that’s for sure! Â All of my girlfriends are successful, smart, and interesting women. Â On that note, I’m still dating and haven’t found the right one to settle down with, but I do stay busy and active and there are always fun things to do around Atlanta as well as out of town. Â My life is not boring, that is for sure.
Recently, I went with 3 of my girlfriends on a little 2 day get away to Abbeville, SC. Â Our friend, Buck, has a beautiful historic home up there that he’s about to sell and he offered to let us enjoy it for a couple of days. It was such a delightful trip and I’ll share all of that with you soon, as soon as I can catch up from Haven this week and breathe a little! Â This was on the front porch right after we arrived. Â You can see we traveled cool and casual as it is hot as a firecracker this month. Â Sweat is a constant companion these days.
If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, I always share real time things as they are happening and I shared a lot of snippets of Abbeville, a quaint Southern town in SC.
While in Abbeville, we attended a cute play in the Opera House, so this is what we wore. Â Jana dressed in all black, with cropped pants and a sparkly top. She is very petite at about 5’1″, usually wears heels and always looks cute. Â I’ve featured Jana before and she is 61 and a hot looking grandmother.
Another friend of mine, Karen, wore khaki cropped pants and a black and white top. Â She wants me to go shopping with her to find some new clothes since she is thinking about venturing into the dating scene again. Â She did pick up 2 golden bracelets and gold hoops in Abbeville, since she said my stacking jewelry was inspiring her. Â You can see those on her wrist to the right and one on the left. Â Karen is 55.
And my sweet friend, Judy, is back today with another cool and colorful summer dress. Â I usually sit with her and her hubby in church when I’m not in the choir and I loved this dress and wanted to share it. Â Judy is 66 and always looks put together and stylish. Â Notice her colorful jewelry too, which really adds to her outfit and the little black shrug she’s wearing for covering up arms when it’s chilly inside. Â Outside, we sure don’t need that at all.
I thought I’d show you another way I wore this new summer dress I bought from Marshalls that I showed last week. This was for church and the sweater came off as soon as I stepped outside after taking this pic. Â I opt to wear flats a lot of the time with dresses and like how cool it feels. Â I try to get a little tan during the summer so don’t mind my legs showing. Â This year I’ve been out in the sun just a little more enjoying the pool and lake and I like having a summer glow, but I do wear sunscreen.
These metallic sandals are from Target a couple of years ago. Â I have had this Eddie Bauer aqua sweater for a long time and found it at a yardsale. It’s great for adding just a little layer on shoulders during spring or fall and in air conditioning. Â This dress was a little bare for church on the shoulders, so the sweater took care of that. Â So, the dress took me to church, to a funeral in the afternoon and an outdoor concert later that evening. Â Very versatile!
So, that’s a few of my friends for today’s Fashion over 50. Hope you enjoyed them all!

I just ordered the turquoise wedge shoes, but they were out of my size at Nordstrom, but found them here at 6pm for a good price.Â
Your girls all look amazing. Love your inspiration!!
You all look great! Thanks for sharing the outfits and love the light blue/aqua sweater with the dress on you. That made a great dressier look for church!!!
Looking good, ladies!!
You all look wonderful and these are perfect outfits for a summer day! Definite inspiration.
I enjoyed the different outfits worn by women attending the same events. I always get new ideas about fashion from your blog. Your blog is always interesting, look forward to it each day. Hope you are enjoying the summer, we are tying to beat this hot Georgia weather. Looking forward to post on remodeling the home of your friend.
You always look so put together! I love that you know your colors & what looks good on you. Your slender frame is enviable! Could you share your eating and exercise routines?
Thank you, Anne! I did a post 2 years ago on my workout routine, so check that out. I’m very fortunate to have thin genes (see my dad!) and a lot of it is attributed to that, but I’ve also worked out for over 30 years and I’m convinced that has helped my metabolism to stay high. I try to eat good food and well balanced, but don’t always succeed. I do have a sweet tooth and will eat desserts on many occasions, but try not to keep a lot of sweet at home. My mom cooks those enough! Here’s the post on my workout:

Your friends look great and I love the sweater with the dress too!
Wow you ladies look fantastic! So important to have good friends, right? Btw, I find a lot of the summer dresses are 100% polyester which is very hot to wear in the summer. Do you have a favorite blend that works in the heat? Love the fashion posts Rhoda, keep ’em coming
Patti, some of mine are like a jersey knit and I don’t find them hot. They are flowy and cool. OF course, cotton is always nice, but blends aren’t bad either.
Love that sweater with your dress. A nice finishing touch!
“All of my girlfriends are successful, smart, and interesting women.”
Shouldn’t Christians befriend people that the world considers unsuccessful? I guess that is a rhetorical question.
The key to looking great as we age is knowing how much is enough. Piling on more and more looks tacky. Also certain colors and cut make it look like we’ve raided our granddaughters closets. Take for instance how much skin we show. Who wants to see sagging, dimpled, wrinkly skin? Even toned skin on someone over 50 looks well, over 50. Bony knees and shoulders can look worse than women with a few extra pounds. Balance is everything. Same goes for jewelry.
