Fashion Over 50: Spring Sweater

It’s finally March and I’m really getting ready for Spring, are you?

This week, I’m sharing a fun sweater outfit I put together, with a coral and white sweater I picked up at Chico’s (on sale) and gray pants I already had.

coral sweater

This is more of a late Winter look, with boots, but this sweater will also be great for true Spring weather, since it’s not too heavy and the color is definitely spring-like.

Mixing colors in fashion is a lot like decorating. Think about which colors look great together in your home and the same rules apply to fashion.  Opposite colors on the color wheel complement each other, whether it’s in a room design or putting clothes together.

I added the coral and white sweater with gray pants (from Loft) I already had and my new boots from Nordstrom.

I got the scarf from Marshalls and it has enough color to bring out the coral shade of the sweater and I can wear it with other things too. Scarves are so versatile for adding color and texture.

Thinking Spring, how about you?  I’ll be adding this sweater to white cropped pants and flats during Spring, so you’ll see this one again.

Thought I’d show you a peek at what I usually look like around the house.  I definitely don’t dress up everyday, but love my yoga pants and slippers from Target.  This is a typical day at my house.

I totally agree with you Jane. The coral color is really her color and she looks beautiful in that color.

That is a good idea to look at sweaters marked down that could transition into spring. I usually hate to look at winter things this time of year but I have a girls trip to the Outer Banks every zapril and that sweater would be great.. I like your around the house look. I hvae some comfy leopard slippers that look like flats. I gotthem from Belk and I love them.

I’m sooo ready for Spring! I have found myself pulling out those transitional pieces with a little spring color from my closet lately. I’m so over my winter clothes!!I love your Chico’s sweater, the color looks so pretty on you. I was immediately drawn to your turquoise ring, I love this color with coral! I could see a scarf with a little turquoise with this sweater, too.

Rhoda, you’re not alone on your typical day look. If I don’t have to be somewhere, I’m normally in my yoga pants and comfy slippers too!! Have a blessed day!

    Thanks very much.

HI, Elaine, those are gray jeans and they are from the Loft outlet. Got them a couple of years ago, so I don’t have a source.

I love the coral on you, but then again, you look good in all bright colours. Aren’t light weight infinity scarves the greatest accessory? I like that you posted a photo of yourself, just relaxing at home.

    Hello Rhoda,
I love the colors. I am a peach/coral fan, and love the look you put together with accenting print in the scarf. Mixing prints in this fashion is lovely . I also am a fan of your tan/taupish boots, a girl can’t have too many boots right! I am very ready for spring.
    Have a great day!

Love the sweater! And I’m so envious of your green thumb. I finally gave up (mostly) on house plants and bought a few fake ones from HomeGoods. I don’t know what I do wrong, but my plants always kick the bucket.
