Fashion over 50: Summer Basics

I don’t have a lot of exciting new things fashion for you today, but I did wear that cute green and white gingham shirt that I got from J Crew Factory. They are apparently going out of business, but still are selling some things online, so I’m glad I got these before they were all gone. As I mentioned, we went to Lake Martin over the weekend and it was a casual no-makeup zone. I loved it!

I love the gingham shirt and it will look great with a jacket and of course, white jeans. Everything looks good with white jeans.

These white jeans are the ones I’ve shared from Banana Republic and I like them a lot too. as well as the sneakers that I’m loving right now by Blowfish. These are fun to wear and I’m wearing those Sheec no-show socks too (affiliate link), which are very comfortable and stay put. I shared those before but if you missed them, they are the best no-show socks I have found. They do not slip down your heel. Mine are the Active X low-cut and they work great. I have them in tan and black.

I’ll share the white jeans below and the Blowfish shoes which are my summer faves now. It looks like the J Crew Factory gingham shirt is still available in green, navy and red/pink.That link is the green one and you’ll have to look for the other colors. This is not an affiliate link.

I snapped this pic at the lake recently. If you like Bermuda shorts, I wanted to share these from Banana Republic (affiliate link) I got recently. Good price and they are very soft with a little stretch. I like longer shorts these days and these are nice and comfortable, I’ll be wearing them all summer.

Here are a few things I found online, many things from Loft. Loving these dresses and jumpsuits and the sales are great. Loft has free shipping over $49, plus buy 1, get 2 free on shorts. I linked some other Bermuda shorts from Loft if you’re in the market. Affiliate links used! Check out their extra sales and specials for all the discounts.

J.Crew is not closing its doors and not liquidating, the company emphasized in its announcement. “Chapter 11 is a tool that provides companies the breathing room necessary to fix their business and address their liabilities while continuing day-to-day operations,” it said. – – I have a friend in management at a local store and hopefully they are NOT closing just restructuring. In other news …. i LOVE LOVE LOVE sheec socks. I’m so ready for fun summer clothes and going places (other than my house – ha) to wear them.

Hi, Sharon, I’m glad to hear that. I know Chapter 11 does allow for companies to restructure and rebuild, so hopefully they will do that. I’ve heard of a lot of companies closing permanently though so I’m glad ot hear this about J Crew.

I love the green and white shirt. What size did you order? Does J Crew run true to size? And those bermuda shorts are the perfect length!

HI, Lynne, I got Small in the shirt. I could have gone medium for a little extra room but it’s fine. I’ll also wear it open with a t-shirt underneath.

The link brings me to Banana but doesn’t go directly to the shorts you are wearing. Are they the 10” inseam and what color are those? There are a few different high rise denim shorts so it’s confusing? Also, same thing for the white pants, just brings me to Banana, not directly to the pants you are wearing, thanks for your help. Also, there are curvy high rise denim shorts.????

Hi, Carol, I don’t know why the specific pieces aren’t saving properly, I saved it from each piece. Here are the shorts, there are two washes, medium and darker:https://bananarepublicfactory.gapfactory.com/browse/product.do?pid=536086001&pcid=999&vid=1&searchText=high+rise+bermuda+shorts#pdp-page-content
