I had a wonderful Valentines weekend and hope you all enjoyed it and celebrated too, if that is something you look forward to. This has been the first year I’ve really celebrated Valentines in a fun and big way in years and yes, I enjoyed it very much. It does make a difference when you have someone special to celebrate with!
My sweetheart (his name is Mark, by the way, here’s a pic I posted on Facebook, along with Valentines flowers) and I are taking dance classes together, so we went to a Valentines dance on Friday night of Valentines weekend. He actually started taking lessons before we met and dancing is something I’ve been interested in as well at this stage of life. So, we are taking dance classes together and are learning the rumba, cha-cha, East Coast swing, Foxtrot, and American waltz, to name the top ones we are interested in. We are having so much fun and can’t wait to really get better at dancing together. We don’t have goals of competing or looking like Dancing with the Stars, but we just want to get comfortable with dancing and learn the steps, so we’ll look good out there on the dance floor!
Excuse these blurry pics, but I took a quick pic of my Valentines dance outfit before we left and I did it on my tripod, which doesn’t always do great for me. I wore this magenta flowy top with a long black skirt and black heels for a dancing outfit.
I bought this top a couple years ago at a shop in Tybee Island and the brand is Clara Sun Woo, made in the USA. I love these cold-shouldered tops and this one is fun to wear out on a date.
Clara Sun Woo cold shoulder top from Amazon (affiliate link). I got the XS size.
I thought it would be fun for Valentines and the perfect color in pink. I wore my silver jewelry with it. These shoes are A2 by Aerosoles and are pretty comfortable for dancing.
This jewelry all came from the Mart at different times. This necklace I’ve had for at least 5 years and it’s starting to show its age, but I wear it anyway. It came from Art by Amy, who is always at the Mart, and she’s out of Texas.
Another outfit I wore recently, I’ve shown you before, but thought I’d show it again. I bought this long tunic top last year at the Mart and it’s paired with damask leggings from Hue and my Ralph Lauren black boots.
It’s sort of a funky print top, but I have enjoyed it.
I sometimes wear this ruffle sweater that I also got at the Mart last year.
And I like it with this faux fur long sleeveless tunic for extra warmth. We’re getting some cold temps in Atlanta lately, so these layered pieces feel good right now.
Hope you enjoyed this Valentines edition of Fashion over 50!
Super cute, Rhoda. My husband actually got together as a couple through ballroom dancing. I was still a ballet dancer, but we were sent to our local chapter of social ballroom dance club to learn a samba for a piece we were doing. I knew my (now) husband previously, but he was there to dance with. My husband also took lessons (for several years) prior to my sashaying from ballet to ballroom. My transition was an easy one. It’s always harder for the guys (learning & leading). Our hardest thing to do is follow, lol, especially when we’re strong women leaders alone. 😉
He is handsome with a great smile, likes to dance, sends you flowers, and makes your ❤️ happy!!! And he gets the real deal…a beautiful, talented, strong woman with great faith and strong family values. Mark is a lucky guy!
Rhoda, you doll. I love the cold shoulder top and the jewelry.
So neat that you and Mark are dancing. We stumble around here sometimes…and stumble really is the word. It’s just so romantic though. 🙂
The cold shoulder tunic is my favorite. Where is the skirt from? No doubt you’ve posted before, but I don’t remember.
Patricia, I haven’t shared this skirt before. Brand is Free to Live and if I remember correctly, I ordered it online from a Today Show deal a couple years ago. It’s like a cotton jersey skirt, not super quality, with a banded waist that folds over. I bought it because I wear black a lot to choir and needed more skirts and I like that it’s long and flowy.
Very pretty! I just can’t get into the fur vest look for myself. I like it on others but I always end up laughing at myself and thinking of Sonny and Cher!
You look so pretty, Rhoda & you have a new glow!
Yes I enjoy your posts . You have a flair for fashion!
I checked out your Facebook page to get a glimpse of Mark. It’s a lovely picture of your smiling faces. I’m happy that you have a special person in your life.
I love, love the graphic tunic with the face on it. I would buy that in a heartbeat.
Cute tops for sure! I am curious to know how the dancing goes. My husband and I took private lessons for at least 6 months or more to get ready for our daughter’s wedding. We did it with another couple and it was a great middle of the week activity, dinner out and then dancing. We learned the dances you mentioned and had a blast, but when it came to the wedding…well, we just fell back into what we have ingrained in us. We talk about doing it again, maybe we will. I think it is wonderful to hold your partner and be held, to look in his eyes and he in yours and to move together to music you enjoy. Simply the Best!
Very happy for you both Rhoda…love the smiles! Happiness Blessings!
You look gorgeous…and so Happy!!!
You look great in everything!!!!!!!!!! So happy you found that special someone…<3 looks good on you! Happy dancing!
Blessings, Cindy
Love that outfit for dancing! So happy you celebrated big this year for Valentine’s and the dance lessons sound wonderful! I look forward to seeing your fashion posts on Wednesdays!
Very cute — both the outfits and Mark!
I am so happy for you, Rhoda!
The dance lessons are a great idea!
Oh, I like all the clothes you showed today. You look so great in all of them. How nice that you are learning to do all the dances and with a nice partner too! Looks like you had a great Valentines celebration and with beautiful flowers too. Lucky you!!!
Rhoda, it is nice that in addition to decorating, travel, fashion and family stories, you are now sharing your happiness. It is nice to hear about it. I married my second husband 33 years ago and still feel so happy and blessed that I got a second chance at happiness. You look nice in the black and red. I love all your jewelry pieces, too.
Thank you, Lorraine, I’m glad I get to share all of this with my readers too. I knew that you all would be happy for me.
Love the pictures of you and your guy and the flowers…he’s so cute! You are too!
Thanks so much, Lori! He’s a keeper for sure!
Love seeing you so happy!
Rhoda, so happy that you’re happy and having fun! Love the dancing outfit in particular, but, as always, the others as well. You are an inspiration. After seeing you in them, I just bought some black leggings to wear with boots and have gotten so many compliments, especially from my husband. Thank you for showing me I can still “rock the look” without looking inappropriate or worse, ridiculous. Next stop for me, a cold shoulder top or two. Just got my Chico’s catalog and guess what they’re showing? Cold shoulder tops.
HI, Patricia, that makes me so happy to hear that you are venturing out to some new clothing ideas. I love it!
