Fashion over 50: Winter Basics

It’s a slow going January for me, which is always the case it seems. I have a hard time getting motivated again with anything, but by the end of the month, I’m sure I’ll snap out of it and start to get some mojo back. I’m still not buying many clothes at the moment, although I did treat myself to some new workout pieces and I’ll share those with you soon. In the meantime, here are some fun winter basics I spotted. The sales on winter items right now are really good, so you can find some good deals. Anyone notice how women’s shoe trends in the boot department are what I call army boots or granny boots, those heavy lace-up chunkers? I’m sorry, but you won’t be seeing those from me, I don’t think they’re attractive and I won’t be buying any.

You can find all the above items below in the widget (affiliate links), so click through for all of them. Thanks for stopping by!

Rhoda, totally agree on those awful boots! I’ve seen a few middle aged “influencers” wearing them, and they look ridiculous!! Why wear ugly?
You’ve picked some cute things today, as always. Hope you an Mark are feeling better 💕

Thanks, Roxanne, I know right?! I don’t get it either. I won’t be wearing them. We are doing fine. I barely had any symptoms. Mark is doing OK too, just tired with some lingering cold symptoms.

Hmmm … I’m a bit put off by today’s comments on clunky boots. I like them. I wear them. I don’t feel ridiculous. They might not be for you, but please do not make hurtful comments about those who wear them.

Hi, Beth, I don’t think what we said should be construed as hurtful. Everyone can wear what they want. If you love them, wear them! Shouldn’t matter what others’ opinions are. I feel the same way about the ripped jeans too, I won’t wear them but plenty of ladies my age do wear them.

Thank you for your frankness re the clunky boots. That is one of the things about your blog that I am attracted to. Your frankness and just because something is what is out there you do not try to push it. Just as with an item that you do like and show, we can make up our own mature minds about something. Keep up the good work. Happy New Year and stay healthy.

Thank you, Brendalynne, that’s one thing about me, I’m pretty straightforward on how I feel about things. Good or bad!

I am not sure what is considered to be a “clunky” boot. If the refrence is to Chelsea boots with thick soles, they look fabulous on most women, warn with cropped pants and even skirts. I consider the laced and rubberized snow boots pictured above as the ugliest thing I’ve seen since movig here from Europe. Different strokes for different folks…

Love the style not the color necessarily. The wonderful thing about being a real adult is you know what you like and listen to who you respect and those you dont can go f*** themselves.

Couldn’t agree more. Who cares what others think about fashion? I don’t like the clunky boots for me, distressed jeans, cold sholders, Uggs, etc. Wear what you like. You don’t need approval — especially from internet strangers.
