Most of you probably remember back in the 70’s when the wrap dress was all the rage? Â Remember Dianne Von Furstenburg’s iconic wrap dress, introduced in 1974? That was the year I graduated from high school. Â I don’t think I owned an actual DVF dress, but I have had a few wrap dresses over the years and they are still popular. Â The DVF brand is still out there as well, with the wrap dress finding a surge of success once again with the younger generations. Â Forty years later, the wrap dress is still going strong.

The one in my closet is not by DVF, but from C Wonder from that shopping spree I got in on last Fall, before that company went out of business. Â I got so many great things and this dress was one of them. Â I paid $35 for it, a bargain for sure. Â I love the color and the style and it will be a fun dress for summer. Â Lightweight in jersey knit, these dresses pack and wear well.
This one is right at the knee, which is a good length on me. Â I don’t usually wear dresses much shorter than this these days.
Turquoise is the perfect complement to hot coral/orange.
I like it with my tan leather wedge sandals.
So, have you tried a wrap dress lately? Â I do think they can be very flattering on many women and they are especially feminine in their lines.
I had a few of you ask on Facebook what my lipstick color is here. It’s Clinique Glazed Berry.
As usual, I’m layering my jewelry. Turquoise necklace and several stacking bracelets in different colors that coordinate with the coral and white.  The Jord wood turquoise face watch I showed you last week.  I enjoy layering different pieces of jewelry.
Here are a few wrap (or faux wrap) dresses I spotted online that I thought you might like.

Rhoda~
I love dresses! I wear them all summer cause it really helps me to feel cooler. These hot southern days can be a blessing and a curse. I have a Chanel Wrap dress that I love to wear, it is also knee length and super cute. They say what was old is new again but, the wrap dress never got old. Stay cool~Dana
Rhoda I like the dresses you are showing…they are what I would call “grown up” dresses after all we are talking about 50plus ladies aren’t we? I am 74 and I personally like to look anything but the typical “old lady styles”…..more toward a :classic style…I think this hits it spot on. THANKS.
I’ll be 74 this year, and I feel the same way. Another problem with most dresses, they’re either short or long. Not proud of my knees and like a dress to just cover them. But I do like the maxis too.
Pretty dress and really like your hair!
You look lovely Rhoda in your wrap dress -love the colors of the dress & jewelry you chose. I too have wrap dresses. They are petite friendly so have faux wrap ones also. Love the nude shoes also. Fabulous outfit!
You look Great in those colors! You always look fab! Would you share where you got the sandals from? I love your blog x
HI, Lynne, those sandals are from TJ Maxx and the brand is Franco Sarto. I couldn’t find them online anywhere.
Love dresses, so cool, easy. Especially shifts. Like the length, best, you show, but most are shorter, too hard to find the length in your pics.
Bought DVF wrap dress, my first, last month. Way deep sale pricing. Bought a Ralph Lauren wrap too, incredible pricing too. Marshall’s.
Happy for you to the extreme with your home in the backdrop of your pics. Knowing what you’ve done to buy and what your parents have done helping build. Precious story of hard work, and mostly LOVE.
Getting into the home stretch of my move, 2 houses into 1, and doing it by myself so far. Men arrive 16-17. Can’t wait to see your house !!

That dress and the color looks great on you!
I forgot to add that I found a Maggie London wrap dress on the TJ Maxx website a few weeks ago at a great price.
I love this look. The pop of contrasting color from the necklace really makes this look very on trend! I second the comment about your home, parents and the love in your home. I enjoy your blog. Love the finished look in the den.
You look Fab. I think wrap dresses are sexy because they create a waistline and if you have a little extra up stairs , the V-neck softens that area too. You know I love bracelets and those are lovely.
You look so darling. You’ve taken good care of yourself and it slows. Do you have any suggestions for clothing for women who are 5’11’, medium build, 150 lbs., small waist and torso, small breasts, average hips, no shape to my ankles, big calves, and healthy sized quads? I need long clothes as my torso and trunk are long. I like wrap dresses, but they are generally too short for me. My legs are not something I want to expose. My waist and midsection are slim so I like to tuck in my shirts to accentuate them. I’m 53. Any suggestions you could give me would be appreciated. I need to know wear to shop to find longer skirts and dresses. Suggestions anyone?
Hi, Nancy, it sounds like you are very proportional in size with your tall height and weight, so I would think you could wear something like a wrap dress. They come in different lengths if you just take a look out there. I find lots of dresses at TJ Maxx that hit below the knee, so try browsing there. I don’t love showing a lot of leg these days either, so right below the knee or a maxi works for me at this point. Longer skirt and dresses are out there. Try Chicos too, they cater to mature women and I think the lengths are longer. I do not have a problem finding longer skirts.
I loved this dress so much that I had my wedding dress made in the DVF pattern in a soft white silk crepe, worn with my cousin’s borrowed pearls, even my Mom loved it, wish I could fit in it now!
Rhoda, Love the dresses but they wouldn’t work for me unless I lose at least 30 pounds. The coral dress looks fabulous on you and I love the jewelry you paired with it! I see a fashion modelling career for you in addition to blogging. You wear these fashions so well. Fashion over 50. Love it!
You look fabulous.
The dress is gorgeous, you really suit that coral colour Rhoda. Unfortunately it is winter here and we are wrapping up in just a few more layers than that :(. Roll on summer I say as I love that colour too and it might just be in our stores by Christmas 🙂
A great and classic look. What perfect gray and cream paint color did you use on the exterior of your house. And I love the turquoise bench! Perfect pop of color.
Thank you!
HI, Barbara, my house color gray is Dovetail and the white is Pure White by Sherwin Williams.
