Fashion over Fifty: More Sweaters and Dresses

I’m back again today with an other outfit to share in Fashion over 50.  I love wearing sweater dresses with boots during the winter months.  They are so cozy and comfy and just feel nice and feminine.

I picked up this sweater dress a few years ago at either Ross or TJ Maxx, can’t remember which.  The tights are more of a true gray and the dress and boots are more of a greige, but I think it works together, especially adding the scarf.

These boots are no longer available at Nordstrom, but I’ve enjoyed their color for something different.

Here’s one link that I found, but only one size left.

Adding a scarf with this outfit pulls it all together.  I’m wearing a cranberry color on my lips, from Boots,  a crayon in Berry.  I love the way this crayon goes on and wears.  It’s  not gloppy like a lipgloss and you can outline and add color all at once, with a subtle glossy look.  I’m definitely trying more colors in these crayons and this is a good winter color.

I’ve shared this scarf tying video several times, but this is my favorite way to tie a long scarf. It’s such a nice and neat look.

I added my vintage houndstooth coat that I found in Savannah a couple years ago.  It’s been a fun coat to wear.

My sis got me a new sweater for Christmas, this Cranberry color from J. Jill.  It’s soft and cozy and longer tunic length, which I love.

Miss Me bootcut jeans (affiliate link) – Thred Up has lots of Miss Me jeans for a great price. Just for reference, I wear a 29 in these jeans, similar to a size 6 in women.

I wore it with my cowboy boots and bootcut Miss Me jeans, adding a soft blue scarf for some additional color.

That leopard cuff is a fun accent for lots of colors and patterns.

I’m wearing the same Berry lip crayon with this outfit too.

That’s a couple more winter looks for Fashion over 50.  Hope you enjoyed and got some good ideas!

I’ve got to admit I love the longer tunic tops. I wish more companies make them. I don’t like them really loose – like a maternity top and not tight either. I really love your outfits — very classy and feminine.

I just purchased 8 colors of a hip length slim tunic style sweater from New York & Company! They have a V shaped opening in front and a hood. I don’t like tops with hoods but this one is very subtle and works well because of the lightweight fabric. The shape of the sweater is very complimentary as it is slim in all the right places and has a higher waist which hides things if you know what I mean. I wear a cami under it as the V opening in front is low cut. The cami can help with giving it a smooth silouette look and again can hide things! The lighter fabric is sweatery but doesn’t feel hot. They wash up nicely and don’t feel clingy. Hurry because they are going quick – on sale from $39.95 to $16!! Search on “hooded tunic sweater” at New York & Company website.

You always know how to put together an outfit. I love all the clothing you have shared with us on Wednesday post. This gives me many ideas on mix and matching clothes. I look at some of the outfits and think – Why didn’t I think of that? You are one talented lady – decorating, remodeling, and fashion. Thanks for sharing with us.

You look gorgeous in that cranberry sweater! Thanks for the tip about the Boots crayon. I’m always on the lookout for lip color that stays on. One of my favorite products is DuWop Reverse lip liner. It is a clear, crayon product you apply outside your lips. It truly keeps lipstick from bleeding into those little lines we all get as we mature. I’ve ordered it from Sephora and Amazon.

Hi Teresa, You won’t be disappointed! I put it on once in the morning, and that’s it. Plus once crayon lasts months and months.

Hi, Roxanne, I’ll have to try that one. I definitely hate bleeding lips and it’s happening to me these days.

Love the Fashion Over Fifty updates. Wish I had your figure, but I’m a little on the chunkier side. lol However, when you featured one of your plus size friends back in the fall, it inspired me to try leggings and jeggings with long tops for the first time. And I must say, I’m loving wearing them! I always thought I was a little too big and a little too old for them, but after you showed how to wear them tastefully, I gave it a shot. Now I’ve bought 4 pairs of jeggings for the winter and wear them with my long sweaters and boots. Feeling hip!!! ;-0

Rhoda, my favorite way to tie a scarf. On a trip to Italy years ago a friend and I were taught how to tie a scarf we purchased there just this way. Great demo! When we got home we wondered how many years till this would come to the states. This technique actually helps to keep you warm on a chilly day too. I just ordered your Boots 7 Berry Lip Crayon. Can’t wait to try it!

Love all of your outfits today & I like the gray tights being a little different color than your dress & boots. The outfit looks perfect that way. You look so pretty in the cranberry colored sweater too! That’s a good color for you. I think you are getting younger looking in each post.

This look is my winter uniform for work. I bought several dresses at Target last spring, but I wear them like tunics. This is a great trick for those of us who would not wear the short dress on its own! And it makes the tunic the right length (for most of us!).
