Hey, friends, I’m knee deep at the Haven Conference today, but I didn’t forget about Feature Friday, so as you’re reading this, I’m in Charleston, SC having a great time with the DIY and home blogging commuinity.
Today’s Feature Friday is a talented young mom, Alicia, with A Burst of Beautiful. She has an easy breezy, what I’d call Cottage style with some gorgeous photos of her home that she and her husband, Nick, have transformed. It’s a new build, but they’ve added a lot of personality with their DIY projects, so have a look around and see if you get inspired. I love Alicia’s beautiful photos and how she shares inspiration all over her blog.
She loves blue and white which is in abundance throughout the house, but it’s such a light and airy feeling and so liveable. Don’t most of us love blue and white too?
It feels so cozy in the living room with those shots of blues and greens.
And you’ll see plenty of this little furball on Alicia’s blog. He/She looks like a great model! I’m not sure what the dog’s name is, but he definitely gets in on the photo sessions, so cute!
This is a great little nook off the kitchen.
Love the mix of warm woods and white.
Peeking in the kitchen.
So light and bright.
There he is again!
What a pretty kitchen!
They’ve done a lot of millwork treatments to their home, like this board and batten in the dining room. Adds so much character to a newly built home.
The dining room is so inviting especially with the lemon tablescape on the table.
How pretty is this?
More board and batten in the master bedroom and a cozy feeling space with blue and white repeated. That warm wood chest at the foot of the bed balances out all the white.
What a pretty space this is!
They’ve added these neat blanket ladders in a couple of spots. Ahem, did you notice a certain furball again? He’s so cute (or she!).
They have an adorable daughter and her room is pretty in pink.
There she is, such a little doll.
Downstairs in their basement, they have a really nice family room for watching TV and a play/work area.
So nice and organized with all this space.
I love these built-ins and the ship lap with the desk. How cute and practical!
A teepee is set up for their little girl to play in.
Outside, they have created such beautiful areas for outdoor entertaining, like this firepit.
I love these spaces and how it feels here.
I’m all about outdoor spaces and looking at this patio cover makes me think about adding this to our deck. It’s so pretty! Alicia’s done a great job creating such an inviting home, don’t you think? Stop on by A Burst of Beautiful and check out Alicia’s blog for yourself! They are an adorable young family!
I love everything about this gorgeous home. So light and airy, yet so much personality. And, a sweet pup never hurts.
I like some aspects of the home. But, over all, I see little personality. It is very sterile and uninviting to me. The dog and the little girl are adorable but I would be afraid to touch anything in the house. Too perfect. I like the light and airy but, to me. it looks as if she found pictures of rooms and purchased things to go in her home. Rhoda, I prefer your style. Some new, some old and collected over time. I love that you used some of the things from your previous home(s).
I also wonder about the white furniture with a child and dog…I know they can be cleaned but how often? The patio is beautiful,we also purchased a tent gazebo similar to hers and it is wonderful ours has side curtains and netting which keeps the bugs and mosquitoes out. I love her chandelier and wonder where she purchased it?
Enjoyed seeing how a younger person uses their talents to decorate. The positioning of the pictures in the grouping over the sofa is quite different, and I love it! Not sure how it’s done exactly, but I’m going to give it a try. Thanks for sharing, Rhoda and hope Haven is a huge success once again.
Love her outdoor areas – very inviting! Wish I could re create them here!
If you haven’t visited The Lettered Cottage, take a look at Layla’s blog. She has done a similar wall and she explains how she did it. Layla may have done it differently but she has had success with her method.
Too much white for me personally, especially with a child and dog. It is beautiful though. I think Sylvia hit the nail on the head, so to speak. I would be afraid to touch anything too. I admire the look… Just not for me.
What colour is your livingroom painted and also what colour are your kitchen cabinets? I like them both very much.
Donna
Hi, Donna, she probably won’t see these questions, so please go over to her blog and you can ask her there.
