Feature Friday: At Home With the Barkers

Hey friends and Happy Friday! I’m sharing a blog friend with you today, Sonya with At Home With the Barkers. Sonya and her husband live in South Carolina and have a house they’ve been fixing up and improving for a few years documented on her blog. I think you’ll enjoy the down to earth approach they have taken with their home, making small and big improvements to make their home a happy place to be.

Starting at the front door with this cute Welcome mat.

Inside, Sonya has decorated in neutrals with a bit of color and you’ll see many projects sprinkled throughout her blog on all the projects they’ve completed.

It’s a homey feeling house and you can tell Sonya takes great pride in all they’ve accomplished, as well she should.

They’ve just completed a kitchen update, painting their cabinets and making some changes to function better for their family.

Dining room space with shiplap walls.

Dining room with board and batten. Sonya painted this table originally and then went back and stripped the top back to stain, which you’ll see below.

As it is now.

Laundry room update.

Master bedroom in shades of blue.

Main bathroom updated with paint and accessories.

A clever built in beverage station under the stairs, DIY project.

Her daughter’s teen room.

And a shed renovation which is really cute. Outside….

And inside, a fun place to hang out.

Sonya and her hubby are DIY warriors and aren’t afraid to try anything to improve and get what they want in their home. Stop over to At Home With the Barkers and visit Sonya if you haven’t already.

Have a great weekend!

I really liked the table after she stripped the top, the contrast with the lighter wood against the black wood was striking! I have never thought of this before, very clever. I was wondering if the heart in the kitchen nook on the wall..are those love notes from each other on index cards? Thank you for sharing this beautiful home today, it made me smile thru-out.

Thanks for your kind words! The heart art in the kitchen was a recent DIY I created for my kitchen makeover. It’s actually pages from an antique book about birds. I love bird watching so I thought it was fitting. I will be sharing the steps I took to create next week on my blog. I hope you will join me there. ~Sonya

Sonya and her husband have done a terrific job of updating their home! I really love what they did in both dining spaces with the shiplap and board & batten finishes. I also love the fireplace surround as well. Thanks for sharing this beautiful home with your readers.

So refreshing to see a home remodel that’s not so over-the-top with fancy expensive things. Looks comfortable and tasteful, and looks like they did things where they stayed within their budget. I love the clean look, and look forward to following their blog. Thanks for sharing.
