Feature Friday: Bee Cottage

When I read House Beautiful’s contributing editor, Frances Shultz’s story, it caught my eye. After the breaking of an engagement, her love story ended and she was starting over in this adorable 1920’s East Hampton Bee Cottage to begin her new journey.  I can definitely relate to starting over and love the transformation of her cozy house.  I think you will too.  Be sure to read Part I and Part II of the story at House Beautiful.  It’s very inspiring.

What a completely adorable cottage!  I could totally move into a place like this, could you?

I love seeing Before and After photos and these go from plain and boring….

To a room alive with color and texture.   Love this room too!

Beautiful blues and creams.

Check out the angle of the ceiling  here and how it comes alive with color in the After shot.

She even took advantage of that sweet little built in cubby to display shells.

Another angled wall goes from a forgotten and bland room to energizing.

The geometric fabric adds a lot of punch to the room, as does the rug.

Another built-in gets a nice facelift.

Now that is something pretty to reflect in the mirror.

A lovely dressing table.

Did you enjoy Bee Cottage as much as I did?  It’s cozy, inspiring and I could feel right at home there!

My friend, Kelee Katillac has been at it again and she has a wonderful Miracle Makeover Reveal at Design Gives Back!  Please go over and leave a comment which will equal $1 per comment that will be donated for those in need.  Kelee uses her talents to help others and I just want to get her as many votes as I can!  If you leave a comment, you will be eligible for some GREAT giftcard giveaways too!

I have been following Bee Cottage’s progress, also. The rooms are really cute, but they also have a l.o.t. of stuff in them.

    Rhoda,

Thank you for sharing Bee Cottage and Frances Shultz’s story. I did go to House Beautiful and love why she named it Bee Cottage. It’s worth pointing out that real estate in this down market starts in the high $800,000. in East Hampton.

    Your Friend,
    Deborah

Thank you so much for this post. What a lovely cottage. I read the story and, of course, it made me sad. I wish Frances Schultz the best. She seems to be a lovely person.

Rhoda — Yes, I saw that update in House Beautiful just yesterday. What a sweet house. Who among us has not had to pick herself up and start over, on some level? Frances has a delightful sense of style. Thanks for sharing before and afters. I liked the front yard makeover, too!

That cottage is to die for! I would love to get my hands on a house like that with so much character. All the houses in my area are so plain jane and look just like all the others. It’s fun to see other people make such beautiful houses into homes!

Rhoda, I was just looking at my HB yesterday while sitting on the patio. I love Bee Cottage and could move right in. I especially love the name and how she put a bee cut-out on her gates. the blue shutters and gate just make that sweet little cottage. I guess we were both enjoying it yesterday, xo Kathysue

Following the transformation of Bee Cottage has proven to be inspiring on both the decor and personal levels. Thank you for featuring it today! I fell in love with every aspect of the eye catching chalkboard in the breakfast nook of Bee Cottage. I was proud to use the photo in my post about chalkboards.

Peaceful and pretty works and Frances proves it with her darling Bee Cottage.

I love these little shingled cottages. They are all over the Hamptons. I had a shop in East Hampton on main street for years. The name was, “Great Finds.” It was antiques and vintage and a lot of re styled items I did. I lived in Sag Harbor, down the road. This house is charming and I love the touches of soft blue she has used. It is good to see color once in awahile. Thanks for sharing, Richard From My Old Historic House. PS. Have you stopped by my blog this week for my free give away? Still have time as it ends today!

I don’t subscribe to HB… I’m going to have to check into this! Great post!!

I feel like I’ve been MIA lately – back to school for our homeschool: I’m ready for Fall break!! 🙂

I’m looking forward to an afternoon where I can pour myself something cool to drink, then sit & catch up on all you’ve been doing! Hope all is well.
