Feature Friday: Carmel at Our Fifth House

Another new blogger that I have met this past year is Carmel, who blogs at Our Fifth House.  Appropriately named because she and her family are, in fact, in their 5th house.  Carmel has been busy making her house a home and has done a fantastic job of DIYing it and really stamping her personality on their space.

This brick Traditional home changed on the outside too and you can see Carmel’s home tour here.

foyer

“Be Nice or Leave” in the foyer coming in.  Love those dark floors. I can tell Carmel is sassy just from this saying she has on the wall. 🙂

family room2

The family room is comfy and cozy and check out those drapes hanging there with the Ikat design.

family room .

She stenciled those on the ever-famous drop cloths.   You can check out her tutorial on that too.  See what a fab DIYer she is!

office

Her office space is very stylish and I love the zebra rug.

dining room with stencil

This dining room is my very fave in her whole house.  I spotted this last summer when I did a post on stencils and never got over how pretty this room turned out with one stenciled wall.  Isn’t it gorgeous?

buffet

She really puts it all together so well.

dining room table

Just an overall pretty dining space.

kitchen backsplash

She added this oh so pretty marble backsplash to her kitchen and it is still a work in progress.

kitchen cabinets

And she also painted and glazed the cabinets.

painted stripes on chairs

Another DIY project, these painted stripes on the chairs with Words on top is a cute way to personalize a space.  This was probably done with drop cloth fabric as well, so if you are looking for ways to cut the budget, this is a fun one.

I hope you enjoyed yet another real-life home with a real-life decorator.  Aren’t we all on the same quest of making our homes cozy and happy for our families?  Carmel has certainly done a great job with her home-sweet-home.  Stop by Our Fifth House and say hello!

Love Carmel and all she has done in her house, particularly the stenciled walls in her dining room, loved featuring it in a past issue of House of Fifty!

    Enjoy your weekend, Janell

Carmen, it is so refreshing to see something different. Just beautiful! You have a unique style that is all you and that’s what we should each strive to do in our homes, make it a reflection of who we are. Thank you Rhoda for another great feature
